"What's the matter Manager? It's just a fake card," Galvin said with a slight stutter. The man had a bad feeling after seeing the serious look on his Manager's face.

"Who said this card was fake?" the Manager replied loudly, his hands still trembling as he held the rare card.

"Manager, don't scare me like that." Galvin slightly whispered in his Manager's ear, and the man swallowed quickly. "He gave him the card, and the manager could see that his clothes were very shabby, so how could he have a real black card? The Manager should be able to judge well!"

"You fool!" The Manager took the tray in Galvin's hand and quickly smashed it against Galvin's head.

"Manager, please do me a favour, that waiter of yours has been disturbing the peace of that little family. He even broke their card," another customer complained in a complaining tone because of the commotion. He had no appetite for his meal.

"Is that true, Galvin?" asked the Manager, looking at Galvin with a glare because he had told all his workers to be friendly to their customers from the start.

"I-I didn't mean that, I just," Galvin replied uneasily.

"Why is this restaurant's service so bad, sir? I can't just stand by and watch my card being treated like that," Damian interrupted Galvin.

"So this is your black card, sir?" asked the male Manager with a slight sweat.

"Manager, you can't be too polite with him. That card is a fake!" Galvin quickly distracted his superior.

"Seeing how the quality of service is here, I'm sure this place won't be out of business for long." The other customers were quick to comment as they were unhappy that Galvin had kept them from getting free food.

"Manager, don't listen to them, you'd better ask that poor guy to pay for all the food now. He's just trying to trick you into not paying for all the food he ordered," Galvin said, looking at Damian with a sly smile.

Damian, seeing how stupid Galvin was acting, just stared at Galvin without interest.

"Sir forgive me, but can you pay for all this food first? After that, I'll give you justice." The Manager looked at Damian carefully.

Alice couldn't bear to see her husband being cheated and immediately wanted to open her mouth, but her husband quickly stopped her while shaking his head.

"Yes you are right, I can just run away and quickly swipe the card. Remember not to break it again," Damian said with a cold smile, the corners of his eyes displaying a hidden cruelty.

The Manager eagerly took the other black card that Damian threw at him, and the man quickly swiped the expensive card into the debit payment device in his hand.

"You might as well pay for all the food the other customers have ordered," Damian said casually.

"Yes, sir!" The Manager vigorously nodded his head. "Please enter the password, sir," he said as he handed the payment instrument to Damian.

"Manager, you can't believe his nonsense. That card doesn't belong to him, and he won't be able to give you the correct password," interrupted Galvin, rudely taking the payment instrument before Damian grabbed it.

"What are you doing, Galvin? Where are your manners as a servant?" the Manager snapped with emotion; now, he was looking at Galvin with a dissatisfied gaze.

Galvin shook his head. "No, Manager. Don't misunderstand me, just imagine that the black card was stolen by him, do you think this restaurant won't be dragged down later? Think about it further, Manager!" urged Galvin, who still believed that Alice couldn't find a rich man in a short time.

Hearing his subordinate's slightly plausible explanation, the Manager looked at Damian with a doubtful look. "Pardon me sir, but is this card really yours? No, I don't mean to doubt you, but-"

"Don't beat around the bush Manager, we'll know if the card is mine or not once I press the password and what if the card is indeed mine?" cut in Damian in a cold tone. The man was so sick of such long-winded drama.

"My husband is right, you guys have made a bad dining experience for us and you keep accusing my husband of theft. So tell me what you will give my husband if he can prove that we can afford all this food?" said Alice in an angry tone, her patience now completely exhausted.

“They're right, Manager. You and your subordinates are so unreasonable. You have underestimated them all this time when they are your customers!” The other customers cheered in a dissatisfied tone.

Seeing all his customers protesting, Manager Demamin was stunned. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean that. I just want everything to be clear because we can't break the law."

"Manager you're scared like that, he's just trying to bully you!" Galvin remained stubborn. The man seemed unable to think normally.

"Why do you keep accusing my husband, Galvin? Can you take responsibility for everything you say?" interrupted Alice while hitting the table in front of her hard; fortunately, Damian quickly picked up his daughter so that Davina was not surprised by what her mother did.

"If you're right, then why are you angry?" Galvin continued to provoke Alice's temper.

"Instead of being unclear like this, why don't you make a bet?" said one of the visitors in an annoyed tone.

"Good idea, is your husband brave, Alice?" Galvin replied without thinking.

Damian, who heard that ridiculous thing, just laughed mockingly in his heart because Damian, from the beginning, never considered a man as weak and stupid as Galvin as his match.

"Of course, so what do you want to bet? I don't think you'll be able to bet money," Damian taunted with a sweet smile while looking at his daughter, who was starting to look sleepy in his arms.

"You?!" Galvin shouted emotionally. Damian had hurt a man's pride. "Let's make a bet, if what I say is true. Then you have to strip naked and say that you're a liar and a cheater, how about it?" Galvin continued with his crazy idea.

He wanted to argue, to shout that Damian was wrong, but deep down he knew the man was right. Ace no longer lived like a human being. He was just a consciousness forced to breathe by a machine. “If we help him now,” Damian continued slowly, "they'll hunt him down again. They would take him to another facility, connect him to a larger Leviathan core. And this time, he would have no more chances to cry."Silence. The auction voices around them continued, but everything felt distant—as if the world had stopped spinning just to wait for Megan's answer. Finally, Megan closed her eyes. Her tears fell silently. A small voice came from her lips, hoarse and broken. “Let him rest. He's been fighting alone for too long.”Damian bowed his head slightly, respecting her decision. He patted Megan's shoulder gently, then turned to Robert. His gaze turned cold but sharp, like a blade ready to strike.Robert nodded slightly. From behind his jacket, he took out a mini trigger with a blue light at

The old machinery beneath the stage hummed softly, then roared within seconds. From the ceiling, hundreds of red cables descended like roots. The threads snatched and grabbed at the bodies of those who tried to approach the stage. They screamed, kicked, tried to break free, but the threads pierced their skin, sucking something from inside their bodies, like energy, perhaps, or l

Megan was just about to close the communicator when she heard the sound of footsteps rushing quickly from the back hallway. Madam Flower appeared, her face pale, breathing heavily, her eyes filled with anger that she could barely control.“Damian.” Her voice trembled but was sharp as a knife. "You know about those kids, right? You know they're there and you didn't say anything to me?"The room instantly felt tense again. Robert, who was standing on the right, looked at the two of them, then stepped back a little, knowing that this was not a conversation anyone else should be involved in. Megan swallowed hard. She rarely saw Madam Flower so intense—not because of fear, but because of a wound that had turned into embers.Damian slowly turned his head. His expression remained calm, too calm for someone who had just been accused of hiding something so big.“What do you mean?”Madam Flower stepped closer, her hands trembling but her eyes staring straight ahead. “Don't play dumb. The child

“You’re just buying lies,” interrupted the cold-faced masked man. “All you’ve won is synthetic fossils, not the remains of prehistoric creatures. But I,” he stepped forward, “want to offer something more real.”Mr. R smiled faintly, hiding something behind his false calm. “And do you know, sir, that ‘reality’ in this place is the most expensive thing in the world?”“That's why I came with enough money to buy everyone's lies here,” said the man flatly. The room fell silent. Only the sound of the hologram machine hummed softly in the air.Mr. R stared at him for a long time, then clapped his hands once. The stage lights changed to a deep green. The hologram screen switched to a view of the deep sea, dark blue, pitch black, with strange silhouettes moving in the darkness.“All right,” said Mr. R, his voice trembling with theatricality. “Since our guest seems thirsty for reality, I will give you something more than just scientific lies.”The image on the screen changed again. Now it showe

Madam Flower looked down with a tense expression. “What if the President finds out?” asked Madam Flower innocently, because she knew nothing about the cold war between Damian and the President.Charlie looked back at her. “That's exactly the point, Madam Flower. He wants the President to find out.”Damian slowly stood up from his chair and walked towards the stage. His steps were calm, but the air around him vibrated with an almost invisible tension.Mr. R looked at him, bowing slightly, his soft voice coming through the microphone. “Congratulations, Mr. Lark. You are now the official owner of one of the most strategic territories in the world. I hope you know how to protect it.”Damian looked directly into the masked man's eyes. “Oh, I will protect it,” he said flatly. “With the blood of anyone who tries to set foot there.”Silence. Everyone who heard it knew that tone was no joke.On the screen behind the stage, the official transaction sign appeared. Mr. R looked satisfied, but beh

Charlie stared at one of the glass boxes. There was something inside, moving faintly, like someone trying to breathe. He looked at Madam Flower with wide eyes. “Are they auctioning humans right now?” he asked in surprise, because everything seemed so bold.Madam Flower covered her mouth with her hand, stifling a sudden wave of nausea. But before she could speak, the music changed again, the piano chimes from below now echoing louder, vibrating through the marble floor and into the air.The red curtain on the stage moved.Someone walked out.The man was dressed in a perfect black suit, his face partially covered by a silver mask that revealed only one eye, cold, clear, and full of power.“Ladies and gentlemen,” his voice was deep and resonant, “welcome to tonight's final auction.”Madam Flower stiffened. Charlie gripped her wrist gently.Mr. R looked at the guests, then slowly raised his hand toward the first box. “And for our opening item is something even shadow hunters would envy,”
