"This single introduction will alter the hierarchy of Jiangbei City." Zhao Feng poured a glass of vintage wine for the Matriarch.

"You secure our entire future Zhao Feng." Old Madam Lin accepted the crystal glass. Her wrinkled hands trembled with raw greed. "The Lin family spent ten grueling years begging for a meeting with the Su Corporation. You arranged it with one simple phone call."

"The harbor logistics contract is worth three billion." Zhao Feng smiled and leaned back in his velvet chair. "President Su controls the shipping lanes. Once I introduce you to her tonight she will grant the Lin family exclusive distribution rights."

Lin Ruoxue sat beside him in a stunning crimson gown. She wrapped her slender arm around his shoulder.

"My Zhao Feng commands respect everywhere he goes." Ruoxue pressed her cheek against his tailored jacket. "Look around this room. We are sitting in the platinum section. Only the top of the business world sit at these tables."

"It requires vision and leverage." Zhao Feng took a slow sip of his wine. "In this city connections dictate everything. You just needed a man who could show you the view from the summit."

Ruoxue sighed and stared into her glass. She swirled the dark red liquid.

"I wasted three years of my youth." Ruoxue spoke with disgust.

"Do not mention that trash at my table." Old Madam Lin struck the marble floor with her silver cane. "He stained our family pedigree long enough. I feel sick just hearing his name."

"He is feeding the stray dogs right now." Zhao Feng smirked and set his glass down. "My security left him in a flooded ditch last night. He had a broken arm and crushed ribs. He did not survive the rain."

"Good." Old Madam Lin nodded firmly. "Poverty is a disease that infects everything it touches. We are finally cured of his presence. We can focus on real power now."

"I told the maids to burn his belongings this morning." Ruoxue checked her diamond earrings in the reflection of her butter knife. "I want no traces of him left in our estate. He was a nightmare."

The doors of the Grand Horizon Banquet Hall swung open.

A sudden shift in the room energy made Ruoxue turn her head. She dropped her silver oyster fork onto her porcelain plate.

Cling.

A man stood at the entrance of the ballroom.

He wore a custom master crafted charcoal suit. The rare silk fabric draped over his broad shoulders with flawless precision. His black shoes shone under the bright crystal chandeliers.

He walked with the measured steady pace of a conquering king. His spine was a steel rod.

Ruoxue stopped breathing. She recognized the face instantly but the aura was entirely alien.

This man commanded the space around him. His eyes held the cold vastness of a frozen ocean.

"Ye Tian." The name slipped from her lips in a shocked whisper.

Zhao Feng snapped his head toward the entrance. He gripped the edge of the table. His knuckles turned white.

"That is impossible." Zhao Feng hissed through his teeth. "My men broke him in half. He was coughing up blood."

The initial shock inside Ruoxue morphed into burning indignation. She saw wealthy socialites at nearby tables whispering and pointing at her former husband. She felt her reputation fracturing.

She stood up abruptly. Her chair scraped loudly against the floor.

She marched across the ballroom floor. Her crimson heels clicked a rapid aggressive rhythm against the polished stone.

"Are you out of your mind?" Ruoxue blocked his path near the center of the room. "How did you get past the front gate?"

Ye Tian stopped walking. He looked down at the woman he once served.

He felt zero affection. He felt zero anger. The mortal vessel he occupied held no lingering attachment to this shallow creature.

"I walked through the doors." Ye Tian replied. His voice was a calm deep rumble.

"You rented a suit and followed me here." Ruoxue crossed her arms over her chest. "You survived a beating and decided to come beg for your place in the servant quarters. Did you think dressing up would change my mind?"

"You overestimate your value." Ye Tian kept his gaze level. "You are just an obstacle in my path. Move."

"Do not speak to me like that." Ruoxue raised her voice. The shrill sound drew more eyes from the platinum tables. "You are my discarded garbage. You do not belong in a room with billionaires."

"I belong wherever I choose to stand." Ye Tian said.

Old Madam Lin arrived behind Ruoxue. She leaned heavily on her silver cane. Her face twisted into a mask of pure loathing.

"You are embarrassing my family in public." The Matriarch pointed a shaking finger at him. "Leave this venue before I have you arrested for trespassing. You are a stray dog wandering into a palace."

"I owe your family nothing." Ye Tian looked the old woman in the eye. "Your threats are empty air to me."

Zhao Feng stepped forward and adjusted his cuffs. He pasted a calm arrogant smile onto his face. He wanted to play the noble defender in front of the watching elite.

"Listen to me vagrant." Zhao Feng stopped beside Ruoxue. "I do not know how you survived the ditch. I do not care. You made a fatal mistake coming here tonight."

"You talk too much." Ye Tian noted.

Zhao Feng reached into his tailored jacket. He pulled out a thick heavy metallic card. He tapped it loudly against his palm.

"Do you know what this is?" Zhao Feng asked.

Ye Tian remained silent. He merely watched the billionaire perform his foolish pantomime.

"This is a Platinum Tier VIP pass." Zhao Feng raised his voice to ensure the nearby tables heard his declaration. "It requires a verified bank balance of fifty million just to apply. It proves my status."

Zhao Feng stepped closer and pointed the card at Ye Tian's chest.

"This card proves I belong in this room." Zhao Feng sneered. "It proves I am the master and you are the peasant."

"A piece of metal proves you serve a bank." Ye Tian said evenly. "It proves nothing else."

Zhao Feng laughed loudly. He looked at Ruoxue and shook his head in mock pity.

"A man is measured by his wealth and his talent." Zhao Feng turned his attention back to Ye Tian. "What do you have besides the clothes you rented for the night? You have no assets. You have no influence."

"I have the strength to end your bloodline." Ye Tian stated a simple fact. He did not raise his voice.

Zhao Feng felt a sudden chill run down his spine.

He took a quick step backward to put distance between them.

"Security." Zhao Feng shouted across the room. He waved his platinum card in the air. "Get security over here immediately."

Four large men in dark security uniforms rushed across the ballroom floor. They shoved past a group of frightened waiters and surrounded Ye Tian.

"Is there a problem Mr. Zhao?" The lead security guard asked. He recognized the platinum card holder instantly.

"This vagrant sneaked into the event." Zhao Feng regained his courage with the guards present. "He is harassing my fiancé and threatening my life. Throw him out into the street."

"We will handle it." The lead guard cracked his knuckles.

"Break his legs if he resists." Zhao Feng ordered coldly. "I will cover any legal fees. Just get this trash out of my sight."

"Did you hear him?" Ruoxue smiled at Ye Tian. "This is the difference between you and him. He commands the room. You are just the dirt we walk on."

The lead guard reached out with a thick hand to grab Ye Tian by the collar.

Ye Tian did not retreat. He shifted his weight slightly to his back foot. He prepared to break the guard arm in three places.

The doors at the entrance flew open. They slammed against the marble walls with a deafening boom.

"Stop." A sharp authoritative voice echoed across the hall.

The ballroom went dead silent. The string quartet stopped playing their instruments mid note. The waiters froze in place holding silver trays.

President Su stepped into the room.

She wore a breathtaking black evening gown tailored to absolute perfection. A single flawless sapphire pendant rested against her collarbone. She radiated supreme untouchable power.

Two dozen personal bodyguards in matching suits formed a tight impenetrable wall behind her.

The security guards surrounding Ye Tian dropped their hands instantly. They took three rapid steps back and bowed their heads in deep respect.

"President Su." The lead guard stuttered in sudden fear.

Zhao Feng pushed past the security guards. He violently shoved Ye Tian to the side.

Zhao Feng adjusted his expensive silk tie. He pasted a welcoming smile onto his face. This was his golden moment. This was his chance to show the Lin family his supreme connections and seal the harbor contract.

He walked briskly toward the entrance to intercept the billionaire CEO. He extended his right hand for a formal greeting.

"President Su it is an absolute honor." Zhao Feng bowed slightly as he approached her. "I am Zhao Feng. Heir to the Zhao Corporation. We spoke on the phone regarding the logistics contract."

President Su did not slow her pace. She did not look at his face.

She walked right past Zhao Feng. She left his outstretched hand hanging awkwardly in the empty air.

Zhao Feng froze. His fake smile cracked and fell away. He turned around in deep confusion.

President Su walked directly toward Ye Tian. The wealthy crowd parted for her like a retreating ocean.

She stopped two feet away from the man everyone had just called a stray dog.

The most powerful woman in Jiangbei City lowered her head. She bowed slightly to Ye Tian in front of four hundred elite guests.

"Mr. Ye." President Su spoke clearly. Her voice carried across the silent room. "I apologize for keeping you waiting."

She raised her elegant arm and slipped it smoothly through the crook of his elbow. She linked her arm with his.
