Barra's calf muscles tensed sharply.

He accidentally maximized the twenty percent physical enhancement effect from the System fully across his entire neural network.

"Talk too much!" Barra cut in flatly with a dismissive look in his eyes.

He kicked the half-full paint bucket lying right near the tip of his left knee hard.

The thick white liquid flew, hitting the scarred man's face squarely.

"Argh! My eyes! Damn it!" the man screamed in pain.

The scarred man instantly let go of his machete in a panic. He staggered backward hitting his partner while rubbing his face covered in thick paint.

Barra did not waste that opportunity. There was an open gap to be exploited.

He rolled forward. His right hand picked up the steel machete that just fell near his shoe.

"Now it is my turn!" Barra said rising on one knee.

He swung the machete hard. He slashed the ankles of two other attackers in one full rotation.

"My leg! Bastard, my leg is cut off!" the stocky attacker screamed hysterically shattering the night.

The two men fell, lying on the floor almost simultaneously. Blood seeped quickly wetting their boots.

Barra stood up. He immediately took a solid fighting stance.

The fourth man standing in the back row tried to surge forward. "Die, you bastard!"

Barra did not block, he stepped sideways slightly avoiding the slash, then immediately slammed the base of his machete handle hard into the fourth man's jaw.

The sound of a rough jaw crack was heard again. The man fainted instantly and collapsed on top of his friends' pile on the floor.

The remaining fifth man stood stiffly with both knees trembling violently.

He stared in horror seeing his four fierce partners leveled to the ground in just seconds.

"Still want to take my head for your boss?" Barra asked staring sharply at the man and stepping forward one step.

The last man dropped his weapon to the cement floor with a loud clatter.

"S-sorry! Mercy, Boss!" the man stuttered with a pale face.

"Take this trash away from my boarding house!" Barra ordered pointing at the bodies groaning in pain on the floor. "Now!"

The remaining gang members hurried to pull their fallen friends with great difficulty.

They turned around, running in fear leaving the boarding house area while dragging their injured partners.

Barra dropped his confiscated weapon to the floor.

He took a long breath to neutralize his heartbeat. He walked unsteadily entering room number two they just painted.

His right hand kept pressing his left shoulder which continuously bled fresh blood wetting his undershirt.

"Barra! You are bleeding badly!" Valerie exclaimed greeting him quickly at the room's doorway.

The woman did not care at all about Barra's messy dirty shoes or clothes.

Valerie immediately pulled Barra's uninjured arm with a very worried look.

"Sit here right now!" Valerie ordered sitting the man on the edge of the kapok mattress without much ado.

"Do not nag, this is just a normal wound. It will heal by itself later," Barra replied holding back a soft wince when his back touched the cold room wall.

"Normal wound my ass! Your blood is dripping dirtying the floor!" Valerie snapped in a panic responding to the man's indifferent attitude.

Valerie's eyes swept every corner of the empty room quickly. She looked for a clean cloth or a water bottle, but the room was completely empty.

"This damn boarding house does not even have a first aid kit," Valerie grumbled biting her lower lip hard holding back frustration.

Without any hesitation, the woman pulled the edge of the expensive designer shirt she was wearing.

Valerie forcefully tore the bottom of her shirt circularly using all her strength.

That rough movement drastically shortened her shirt upward.

She blatantly exposed a bit of her clean white flat stomach area under the dim light bulb.

"You tore an expensive shirt just to treat a poor man's wound?" Barra mocked staring straight at the woman's panicked face.

"Shut up! Be quiet! Your life is much more valuable than this shirt!" Valerie retorted sharply without looking away from the open wound on Barra's shoulder.

Valerie shifted forward pressing her body until both her knees directly touched Barra's thighs.

"Hold on a second, this will sting," Valerie whispered with a softening tone.

The woman wrapped the cloth with a fast and strong movement. She pressed the torn wound on Barra's shoulder to stop the bleeding.

Valerie's breath blew very warmly and regularly from this close distance.

The air from her nose hit the skin surface of Barra's neck constantly without obstruction.

Their positions were very tight on the edge of the narrow mattress. Their faces were only a few centimeters apart.

Valerie leaned her upper body further forward to tie the cloth knot behind Barra's shoulder.

That hugging movement from the front made her cleavage press lightly against Barra's right bicep.

Every time the woman moved to pull the knot, that gentle friction happened again unavoidably for both of them.

"Is the knot too tight?" Valerie asked softly without realizing her very awkward-inviting position.

"It fits. Do not loosen it anymore," Barra answered briefly and calmly.

Barra let the intense touch continue.

He enjoyed the fragrant aroma of Valerie's expensive perfume mixed strongly with the smell of cement dust and wet paint in the room.

Valerie's hands trembled slightly when she managed to lock the last knot right above the wound covering cloth.

The woman did not immediately pull her body away after her task was done.

"You are truly crazy," Valerie whispered staring deep into Barra's sharp eyes. "You could have died chopped to pieces in the front hallway."

"Relax, no one can kill you in my own boarding house," Barra replied.

Valerie snorted softly hearing the man's answer.

However, the woman's ears slowly blushed bright red. She felt Barra's heartbeat beating steadily behind the broad chest close to her.

"So arrogant. Do you not know that arrogance can make you die faster?" Valerie muttered lowering her face to hide the blush on her cheeks.

Barra smiled faintly responding to the sarcastic mockery without giving an argument.

Suddenly, the System screen appeared breaking the absolute silence inside Barra's head.

A bright glowing gold emergency notification suddenly covered his visual sight.

The System's voice buzzed loudly giving a medical emergency warning.

[Critical Warning! Host is experiencing moderate bleeding. Cell regeneration delayed due to drastically decreasing body temperature.]

Barra narrowed his eyes reading the glowing text line blinking rapidly on his retina screen.

[Physical Healing Mission Active.]

[Assistance Target: Tenant Zero One (Valerie Sinclair).]

"What mission now?" Barra asked flatly in his mind.

[Instruction: Perform direct body temperature transfer with Tenant Zero One through intense physical touch.]

[Success Condition: The temperature transfer duration must last for the next ten minutes continuously.]

Barra took a long breath reading the absolute condition on the transparent screen.

"Bastard System. You are intentionally taking advantage of a tight situation!" Barra cursed inwardly.
