Barra wiped the sharp gravel shards from the wall hole's edge with the back of his hand.

He shifted his large body closer to the brick wall, blocking Valerie's view as she tried peeking from behind.

"Go back to painting the wall, Miss Sinclair," Barra scolded, turning his head briefly with a warning look.

"Do you think I am stupid? You are hiding something in that hole," Valerie retorted suspiciously.

The woman crossed her arms, refusing to step back.

Barra ignored her protests completely

"Step back and do not leave this kitchen area!" Barra ordered without turning his head back at all.Valerie stopped her movement."You want to go out front alone? What if that gang of men with machetes comes again bringing more troops?" Valerie prevented him with a thick tone of worry."Exactly because of that, you must stay here. Lock the door from the inside and turn off this light," Barra answered."Do not die foolishly out there, Barra," Valerie said softly, half-whispering, squeezing the edge of her shirt."Dying is not part of my plan tonight," the man replied flatly, stepping away. The well-built man stepped quickly down the pitch-black long hallway."System, calculate the number of enemies outside," Barra ordered.[Scanning obstructed by local storm interference. Target estimate outside the gate: One passive physical entity.]Even if it was only one person, Barra did not lower his alertness level in the slightest. When he opened the door, Barra was surprised because

Barra stared through the panic in the beautiful woman's eyes, confused about what to explain. He took a deep breath. "Do not overthink it. I called a friend earlier to buy this furniture. Those couriers are human, they just work specifically for my friend's store," Barra said, making up a casual excuse.Valerie frowned. "When did you call?""When you were busy grumbling," Barra answered.Valerie scrutinized his expression, looking for a lie. However, Barra's face was entirely unreadable. She looked back at the corner of room number two. The previously dusty, cracked space now looked much better. She stared at Barra with growing awe."You have weird logistics connections for a rundown boarding house owner," Valerie muttered, crossing her arms.Barra did not reply.Valerie approached the dressing table to check its varnish. Suddenly, a transparent blue screen blinked before Barra's eyes.[Emergency Renovation Mission Complete!][Room Number Two Status: Livable Level 1.][Can

His focus was entirely on the black steel safe inside the wall. The safe's rust-free surface indicated expensive high-grade steel. The digital keypad on the door blinked slowly with a dim red light."System, help me check this safe," Barra ordered inwardly.A bright blue light shot from his pupils, scanning the dusty metal buttons from close range. A transparent information screen appeared seconds later.Faded reddish fingerprint traces appeared clearly under the invisible light. The finge

Barra stared at the blinking System notification screen. Two choices appeared in his head. He could let his body weaken from blood loss, or obey the System's strange order.Barra made his decision. He pulled Valerie closer in one jerk."Hey! What are you doing?!" Valerie protested, eyes wide. She fell onto Barra's broad chest. The beautiful woman struggled softly, trying to break free. Pressing her elbows into the mattress, Valerie supported her weight to avoid crushing him."Take your hands off my waist right now, Barra!" Valerie raised her voice. "Do not make me scream!""Be quiet and stay still. I just need warmth to stabilize my heartbeat," Barra replied flatly, holding her with his right hand.Valerie's exposed stomach directly touched Barra's abdominal muscles. Warmth flowed constantly between their skin. A thin golden light radiated from their touch, creeping up Barra's ribs and slowly closing the torn flesh on his left shoulder.Valerie's face instantly turned red fro

Barra's calf muscles tensed sharply. He accidentally maximized the twenty percent physical enhancement effect from the System fully across his entire neural network."Talk too much!" Barra cut in flatly with a dismissive look in his eyes.He kicked the half-full paint bucket lying right near the tip of his left knee hard. The thick white liquid flew, hitting the scarred man's face squarely."Argh! My eyes! Damn it!" the man screamed in pain. The scarred man instantly let go of his machete in a panic. He staggered backward hitting his partner while rubbing his face covered in thick paint.Barra did not waste that opportunity. There was an open gap to be exploited. He rolled forward. His right hand picked up the steel machete that just fell near his shoe."Now it is my turn!" Barra said rising on one knee.He swung the machete hard. He slashed the ankles of two other attackers in one full rotation."My leg! Bastard, my leg is cut off!" the stocky attacker screamed hysterical

They entered the boarding house. Their footsteps stomped roughly at the same time along the corridor. They simultaneously raised their steel machetes straight ahead, aiming at Barra's chest without the slightest hesitation."System, can you find the weaknesses of these five bastards?" Barra asked in his head. The holographic blue screen buzzed softly and projected data right in front of his retinas.[Scanning five targets...][Target 1 (Scar): High agility, poor balance on the left leg. Weapon: Carbon Steel Machete.][Target 2: Short body posture, focused attacks from the enemy's blind spot. Swing strength below average.][Target 3: Tanker type. Dense muscle mass, slow movement. Vital point exposed on the right stomach.][Target 4 & 5: Support positions in the back row, low awareness level.]Barra smiled. Now he already pocketed the list of the enemies' weaknesses and strengths. So, there was no reason to be nervous. He stared sharply at them, then slid his right foot backw
