Chapter 1: The Abyss Calls Back

The void was not empty. It was a suffocating, gelatinous weight that pressed against Arkana’s shattered frame, dragging him into the absolute zero of non-existence. His bones were no longer his own; they were jagged shrapnel, slicing through muscle and gristle with every twitch of his involuntary spasms. He couldn’t breathe. The air in this abyssal pit was thick with the scent of ozone and rotting celestial corpses.

Pain wasn’t just a sensation anymore; it was his entire identity.

“Still clinging to the fraying thread of your pathetic life, little prince?”

The voice didn’t travel through the air. It vibrated directly into the marrow of his teeth, cold and sharp as a surgeon’s blade. Arkana tried to scream, but only a wet, gurgling rattle escaped his mangled throat. He felt his ribs—broken in a dozen places—begin to shift. They didn’t knit back together with the gentle warmth of healing magic. Instead, they ground together with the sound of snapping slate, a viscous, ink-black sludge oozing from the marrow to bind them into a new, unnatural structure.

“Who… who are you?” Arkana gasped, his voice a jagged whisper that tasted of metallic blood. He clutched at the darkness, his fingers clawing into the slick, shifting floor. “Get out of my head. Just… let me die.”

“Death is a luxury for those who haven’t lost everything, Arkana,” the voice replied, amused. “But look at you. Broken. Abandoned. Thrown into the dark by the very people you once called kin. Do you really want to end as a pile of carrion?”

“They threw me away,” Arkana choked out, his vision blurring. He felt a phantom touch—a cold, calloused hand sliding along his jawline, forcing him to look up into the nothingness. “I don't care. Let it end.”

“You’re lying. Your heart is beating like a trapped bird. You want vengeance. You want to see their eyes go wide when you walk through the palace gates again—not as the weakling son, but as something they’ll fear.”

“I can’t,” Arkana wheezed, his body arching as the Forbidden Demon System surged through his nervous system, rewriting his humanity with every pulsating wave of obsidian energy. “I have nothing left. Look at me. I’m just… broken parts.”

“I am the glue, little prince. But glue requires a sacrifice. A soul-binding contract. I offer you strength—the strength to rip the world apart—and in exchange, I take the chains of your morality. You won’t be the boy they despised anymore. You’ll be mine.”

Arkana’s lungs suddenly flared with a searing, freezing agony as they were forcibly reconstructed. He sucked in a breath of the abyssal air, a harsh, ragged sound that echoed in the silence. It wasn’t oxygen; it was pure power, potent and sickening.

“Is that all?” Arkana rasped, his eyes snapping open. The whites of his irises were tainted with a creeping, abyssal violet. “My soul? My humanity? You want to turn me into a monster?”

“I want to turn you into a predator,” the voice purred, closer now, trailing a sensation like icy silk down the length of his spine. “Does it hurt, Arkana? The way your skin is stretching to accommodate the shadows?”

“It burns,” Arkana hissed, his fingernails digging into the dirt until they bled. “Everything… it just burns. Why can’t you just kill me?”

“Because I have a taste for drama, and watching you fall is far less entertaining than watching you rise from the grave to butcher them. Say the words. Bind yourself to me, and I’ll make sure you never feel a moment of weakness ever again. You’ll be cold. You’ll be cruel. You’ll be everything they thought you weren’t.”

“If I say yes,” Arkana muttered, his resolve fracturing under the weight of his own resentment, “do I get to tear them down? All of them?”

“Every single one of them. You’ll have the power to make their blood run cold with a single glance. You’ll be the nightmare they dreamt of when they cast you into the void. Think of the look on their faces when you return—when you claim what was stolen from you.”

Arkana’s breath hitched. He felt the System’s presence coiled around his heart, a parasitic anchor that promised him everything while slowly hollowed him out. He thought of his brothers, the laughter in the throne room, the way they had laughed as he fell.

“Fine,” Arkana whispered, the word tasting like ash. “I accept. Take whatever you need. Just… give me the strength.”

“Good boy.”

The sensation was electric, a violent surge of dark magic that flooded his limbs. Arkana gasped, his back arching off the ground as his skin began to glow with shifting, ink-black runes. He felt his muscles solidify, his reflexes sharpen, and the dull, aching exhaustion of his near-death experience vanish, replaced by a cold, predatory hum.

“Where are you?” Arkana demanded, his voice dropping an octave, deeper and more resonant than it had ever been. “Show yourself. If you’re going to own me, I at least want to know what kind of master I’ve bought.”

“Patience, little prince. You haven’t even stood up yet.”

The darkness in front of him began to coalesce. It swirled like ink in water, hardening into a humanoid form that stood with an imposing, regal grace. The figure stepped out of the shadows—a man, tall and terrifyingly beautiful, with eyes like burning embers and a presence that made the very air feel thin.

Prince Ravindra.

He didn’t look like a savior; he looked like a god of ruin. He loomed over Arkana, his shadow casting a long, dark shroud across the shivering prince. Ravindra reached down, his fingers—sharp, cold, and inhumanly strong—lifting Arkana’s chin until their eyes locked.

“You look exhausted,” Ravindra remarked, his tone mocking, yet strangely intimate. He trailed a thumb over Arkana’s trembling lip, a ghost of a touch that sent shivers through the prince’s newly mended body. “Still so fragile. Does it ache? The transition?”

“I feel… hollow,” Arkana admitted, unable to look away from those burning eyes. His heart was hammering, not with fear, but with a strange, dark hunger. “Is this what it’s like? To be a monster?”

“This is what it’s like to be powerful,” Ravindra corrected, his gaze sweeping over Arkana’s exposed, trembling form. He leaned closer, his breath cool against Arkana’s skin. “You aren’t a monster yet, Arkana. You’re a blank canvas. And I intend to paint you in shades of red and violet until you forget you ever had a name.”

Arkana’s chest rose and fell rapidly, the thrill of the dark magic warring with the lingering remnants of his terror. “And what if I don’t want to forget?”

Ravindra smiled, a sharp, dangerous expression that didn’t reach his eyes. “You won’t have a choice. The System doesn’t take half-measures. You’re mine now, from your marrow to your morality. And honestly? I think you’re going to enjoy every second of the transformation.”

He leaned in closer, his lips brushing the shell of Arkana’s ear. “Shall we see how much of your humanity is left to burn away?”

Arkana shivered, the cool pressure of Ravindra’s presence acting like a tether in the overwhelming void. He was no longer a prince; he was a vessel, and for the first time in his life, he was exactly where he wanted to be.
