The forest lay shattered in silence. Fallen trees, torn earth, and the metallic stench of blood clung to the air. Jared stood frozen, chest heaving, the shadow’s words echoing in his skull.

His system flickered before his eyes, but for the first time since awakening, the glowing panels didn’t feel like salvation. They felt like shackles.
