The warm morning sunlight made its way to Jerouch's eyes as he opened them with struggle.

He eventually woke up from his long unconscious state, but he still squinted his eyes waiting for them to adjust to the new, bright environment.

The chirping of birds and insects along with short, rapid movements of rodents flooded his ears and he breathed in the sizzling scents of flora.

'' Come to think of it, flora…? '' He jumped from where he lay in an awkward position and looked around in confusion.

The memories of his last battle rushed into his mind and he got even more perplexed.

He knew he should be in the rumbles at best, but here he was enjoying the calming atmosphere of beautiful flowers and shrubs.

'' Tsk, you're awake at last, I thought I might just finish you off. ''

Jerouch abruptly turned when he heard an unfamiliar voice calling from behind.

Immediately after he saw who the voice belonged to, his heart tied a knot and his whole body tensed up.

His hair stood erect, and he cautiously moved backwards until he stepped on a twig, then with a thud, he smack his butt to the ground.

'' What is she doing here? '' Jerouch thought, racking his mind for any possible escape route, but it was without question that if she meant harm, then he would be in for it.

'' Is that what I get for a thank you? '' Karah squinted her eyes while taking note of every minute action of Jerouch.

'' Thank you?? What does she imply… '' Jerouch wondered until he looked down.

He could no longer see his old grey robes ruined with blood and patches, rather, he was in a dark robe that felt so smooth and soft to the touch.

Not just that, his body now looked cleaner, void of dried blood and stench. Even the deep wounds had healed with no traces of scars.

Jerouch's eyes travelled across the forest but found no one else there, and his cheek burned as he hoped that what he was thinking didn't happen.

Yes, he wasn't a virgin on Earth, but that didn't mean that he would allow a lady to see his stick, not when he was unconscious.

'' Hmph, pervert! '' Karah snorted.

'' Don't you even dare think that this lady of elegance would take advantage of a dying man. ''

She brought out a blindfold from thin air, which fascinated Jerouch as he had never seen something like that before.

'' See… I covered my eyes and I even cut off the mana fluctuation coming from you. '' She put forward the blindfold to allow Jerouch to see clearly.

If only he could curse aloud, he would gladly do that.

' Blindfold my foot, that doesn't stop you from touching me. ' He knew better not to say this aloud unless he was tired of living. He wouldn't be that dumb to reprimand someone who managed to escape a monster that could summon a dragon, or who knows, maybe even kill it.

He might not even get to know how he died.

'' But you're stupid, you know. ''

Jerouch's eyes twitched as he heard her use such language.

'' To think you actually swallowed a monster core. Even those at higher levels would wait for them to be refined before assimilation. '' Karah swayed her hair backwards and moved closer to Jerouch who had got back to his feet.

'' However, that's even more fascinating, you surviving, I mean. '' She locked eyes on Jerouch with interest. '' On a normal day, you would have imploded from the inside and then bang! '' She clapped, which startled Jerouch.

'' Damn, so I was this close to ruining myself. No wonder that Yon bastard was struck with fright. ''

'' You saw my presence some days earlier, and that warrants your demise. '' Karah uttered in a crisp tone with an abrupt change in her demeanour, and Jerouch felt like the temperature suddenly dropped.

' Is it happening? ' He thought as he tried to think of an excuse.

'' See, I'm just a runaway slave, and I didn't mean to peep, I don't even know your name, so please let me go this once. '' Jerouch muttered in the most sympathizing tone that he could summon.

'' You don't know how complicated this is, huh? '' Karah sight and eventually withdrew.

At first, she only entered the dungeon out of sheer curiosity. However, when she crossed the dungeon barrier, the mana fluctuations clearly reached her and that was when she realized that the presence she sensed a couple of days before was here.

When she eventually got to the dungeon boss floor, the last scene she saw was Jerouch swallowing what seemed to be a monster core and then punching someone with multiple spells before he also passed out.

She wanted to kill him at that spot to save any future trouble. However, she decided against it for reasons known only to her.

She then dragged him out and placed him on a pad of flowers. Using the blindfold as she displayed to Jerouch, she changed his messy robe, and didn't peep despite her high perception.

She had few clothes and high-quality potions in her storage rings, and it was without effort that she nursed him back to life.

In the end, she even succumbed to her curiosity considering his recovery speed and used her perception to check Jerouch's inside, but she found nothing of particular interest.

'' Am I really right? '' She thought with a frown as she looked at Jerouch's relaxed face who was still deep in sleep.

Back to the present, she stood up and gazed at Jerouch with a ' won't you stand up look, ' which confused him.

'' Um? '' He got up, his look blatantly demanding an answer about what the next course of action was.

He was still wary of her, so he maintained some distance away.

'' Tsk! '' She made a short grunt seeing Jerouch's conspicuous action.

'' Come with me, I want to train you. ''

The red salamander, from the little knowledge, that Jerouch had garnered in the library, was a creature of the fire element. They lived in hot regions, such as extremely scorching deserts or terrains near active volcanoes. Some red salamanders that ranked higher even lived inside volcanoes. From the mana fluctuation of the red salamander, he could tell that it was a D rank monster. '' Lightning bolt. ''Jerouch called out softly. The bright sky suddenly turned cloudy with flashes of lightning and then…A thick bolt of lightning zapped down and hit the red salamander in its head. '' Scrchh. '' The red salamander winced in pain as it lost the forward momentum. A large hole was created in its head and the smell of burnt flesh reached everyone's nose in a couple of seconds. Not waiting for the red salamander to recover, Jerouch activated one water bullet that shot at Bram. The water bullet hit him in the stomach, and he was sent flying amidst his agonized groan. The other guys who

Katcha! The sound of a pen breaking suddenly resounded in the well-lit study room. '' They came back unscathed? '' asked the man sitting on the stylish wooden chair, his hands banging the rectangular table. '' Y-yes, leader,'' answered an old butler, his voice stricken with fear, and his body wouldn't stop shaking. The old butler was in a poor quality grey robe that matched his short grey hair and a long beard that grew down to his chest. As for the leader, he was adorned in a blue robe that felt smooth to the touch. He had short raven hair with a clean-shaven face. His thin eyes further constricted in anger and his light-brown face twisted in displeasure. '' What's the meaning of this? Didn't we settle those crazy hounds? '' his gaze landed on the old butler, demanding an answer. '' I also don't have enough information leader,'' the old butler replied, '' however- ''The leader's eyebrows perked up as the old butler drew closer, unwrapping a letter. The leader received the

The city's library was Jerouch's first target. Even though he had spent approximately two decades in this world, he still knew little about it. He didn't even know where the slave house was, and the only he knew about his birthplace was that it was somewhere close to the royal capital. As for the information regarding warlocks, that too was superficial. After taking a few turns just as Azel described, he eventually got to the end of a street, where he saw the library. The library was two storeys building. It was made from grey mudstones and the roofing came from brown thorny plants. This part of the street was dry and scantly, and it took no genius to realize that people rarely tread this place. Jerouch glanced at the few houses around him before heading forward to the library entrance. Opening the wooden door, Jerouch entered, and the smell of tobacco was what rushed through his nose. The library was not dirty, but it wasn't clean either. one orb sparingly lit the inside. Ho

A tall wall stood erect before Jerouch. It was made of thick stones and a thick arch-like metal gate. There was a tower on top of the gate where the city guards in brown uniforms and rusty breastplates observed the to-and-fro movements of the peopleA muddy ditch, several meters wide, surrounded the bottom of the wall. Only by the small bridge that connected to the gate could someone enter. Unless for those that could fly of course, and as for that, there were cannons that pointed upwards from the top of the wall. Jerouch stood there for a while looking carried away with the structure. He walked with Azel's group as they proceeded forward along with others. The city gate was crowdy and noise came from all directions as people discussed the usuals and the tremor they felt earlier in the day. '' Did you see when the tremor uprooted a large tree? '''' And then bang! '' A man who seemed to be half drunk clapped his hands startling his listeners. '' Could it be a territorial battl
