Oliver’s scream was swallowed by the void. Stone shattered around him as the chains dragged him through the wall, not through it, into it. He was falling sideways. The world twisted.

Gravity broke. Time snapped like old thread. His body spiraled through smoke and static and bone. Fingers clawed at his skin, not real fingers, but memories in the shape of them.

“You let her die.”

“You were supposed to burn.”

“You chose wrong.”

The voices came from inside the wall. Inside him. Oliver gritted his teeth. The wound in his side oozed heat and blood.

His gauntlet, now barely more than scorched metal, pulsed with angry red light. It wasn’t dead yet. And neither was he.

CRACK.

A fracture split across the void. Light bled through it, gold, like the door. But it was closing. The golden door was nearly consumed by fog, and if it sealed before he broke free, he’d be buried in this living prison forever.

The chains squeezed tighter. Bones cracked. The Echo’s many arms reached through the rift and

Oliver stood in front of the glowing screen. His hand trembled above it. The screen hummed softly, waiting for his decision. A countdown ticked down in big red numbers.23 seconds...22...There were two choices on the screen:[HEART] Your memories, love, and grief[FIRE] Your power, strength, and rageHe stared at them. His chest tightened. "Damn it," he whispered, his voice breaking. He didn’t want to choose. He couldn’t choose.Memories of Lyra filled his mind. Her laugh on that hill in spring, the way her hair flew in the wind, how her eyes crinkled when she smiled. He remembered his mother, humming lullabies when he was a child. He remembered his father’s final moments, the snow turning red.But he also thought about his gauntlet, the fire that once burst from it. He had fought monsters, saved lives, and survived the darkness with that power. Without it, how could he protect anyone now?15 seconds. The silver-masked man stood across from him. He didn’t move. He didn’t blink. He d

Oliver hit the ground hard. The light was gone. Everything was quiet. He didn’t know where he was. The ground under him was cold and smooth, like glass. He stayed on his knees for a while, breathing fast. His chest moved up and down. His hand was shaking. The metal glove on his arm, the gauntlet, still gave off a little light. But it was dim now, like a candle about to go out.He listened. Nothing. Just silence. Thick and heavy. He slowly looked up.All around him was fog. White fog. It was so thick that he couldn’t see far. It swirled and moved like it was alive. He couldn’t see any walls. No sky. No real floor. Just the fog. And the cold air. Then he heard something. Not a sound exactly. More like... whispers. Very soft.He froze. The whispers were everywhere. All around him. They came from near. Then from far away. Some sounded like him. Like his own voice. Others sounded like strangers. Some were men. Some were women. Some were children. Old voices. Young voices. All speaking at

Pain was the first thing Oliver felt when he opened his eyes. It wasn’t a small pain. It was sharp, deep, and everywhere. His ribs hurt when he tried to breathe. His shoulder throbbed like something heavy had hit it again and again. His right arm felt strange, he couldn’t move it, and it felt cold, like it was asleep but worse. His ears were ringing loudly, a high-pitched sound that wouldn’t stop, making it hard to think. His face was covered in dust, and it clung to his skin and eyelashes. When he coughed, blood came out. He looked down and saw the red stain on the ground. His chest rose and fell slowly. It hurt, but he was alive. Somehow. He blinked a few times. The world was blurry, and everything smelled like smoke and something burning. The wall behind him was gone, just a pile of broken stones and rubble. Smoke rose from it like fog, curling into the air. The heat made the air shimmer like a mirage. And then he saw it.The Sentinel. It was still standing. Unharmed. Its white c

The wooden door swallowed him in an instant. There was no corridor this time. No glow. No whisper of power humming through his skin. There was only falling.Oliver dropped like a stone through the void. Wind tore at him, invisible but screaming loud in his ears. He tried to breathe, but there was no air, just pressure. Crushing, endless pressure. His heart thudded against his ribs like a drum, and then, snap. The world shifted again. He landed hard, on his feet, somehow, knees bending instinctively, pain flaring in his thighs. He looked around. This time, he stood in a coliseum. Massive. Circular. Walls rose dozens of meters high, layered in jagged stone and flickering runes. High above, spectators made of shadows watched silently from arched seats. They didn’t move. But he felt them, watching, judging. Before he could get his bearings, a System alert flared into view.SECOND TEST: TRIAL OF STRIKERSCondition: Survive.Time Limit: 180 SecondsOpponents: 3x Spectral Striker Units – Tie

  • Chapter 140

The golden-red door stood tall in front of Oliver. It looked strange, like it didn’t belong to this world. It didn’t make any sound, not in the way normal things do. But Oliver felt something. A soft humming. It wasn’t in the air, it was inside him. It felt like a quiet drumbeat in his chest. Like it was calling to him.He took a slow breath. His bare feet were cold on the smooth stone floor. The golden-red door gave off a soft glow. The light danced on his skin. He stepped closer and reached out his hand. His fingers stopped just a little above the handle. The handle was warm. Not hot. Just warm enough to feel alive. It was like the metal was breathing. Like it knew who he was. It reminded him of the chain around his chest, always warm, always pulsing like a heartbeat.Oliver touched the handle. He held it tight. He hesitated for just a second. Then he pulled.Light burst out from the door. A flash. It surrounded him. It swallowed him whole.Suddenly, everything changed. The light

Oliver stood in the armor. The black steel wrapped around his body like it had grown from his skin. It was heavy, but it felt like it belonged. The glowing chain crossed over his chest, warm against the cold metal, pulsing like a heartbeat. In his right hand, he held a silver mask. It gleamed under the shrine’s soft light. The shrine was silent. The walls were old, covered in cracks and faded symbols. Candles flickered in little bowls along the edges, casting golden glows.Dust hung in the air, making everything feel still and ancient.Wren stood near the stairs. Her eyes were wide. She didn’t say anything. She just stared at Oliver like he had turned into something else.Emery leaned against the stone wall. Her face was pale, and her breath came out in short, weak puffs. Her hand was over her heart. She stared up at the sky through the hole in the ceiling, the place where the boy had fallen."My brother..." she whispered. Her voice shook, like a thread about to break. "He should be

The wind blew harder now. Leaves flew like frightened birds. The trees groaned as if they wanted to run away. The sky had turned gray, the sun hidden behind dark clouds.Emery stood in the clearing, holding onto a stone statue to stay on her feet. Her legs were weak. Her skin was still hot from the fever. But her eyes were wide, watching the black tower rise far away.Oliver stood beside her, holding Wren gently. His arms were strong, but his face was tight with worry.“I’ve never seen anything like that,” Wren whispered. Her voice was dry, barely a breath.“That tower…” Emery said slowly, “I think I saw it once. In a dream. A dream where the world ended.”Oliver looked at the tower. It stood like a spear stuck in the earth. At the top, the huge black gate yawned open. Something was behind it. Something watching. And waiting. They didn’t speak for a long moment. Only the wind spoke, and it spoke in whispers too strange to understand. Then Wren sat up straighter.“We can’t stay here,”

The forest was cold. Trees stood tall and still, like quiet guards watching from the dark. Fog crawled between their roots.Oliver ran through it. Mud clung to his boots. Leaves scratched his arms and face. But he didn’t stop. He held Emery tightly, her breathing shallow, her skin burning with fever. His heart pounded hard. Not from fear, but from the memory of Wren.Wren, who had stayed behind. Wren, who had screamed. Wren, who had fought the monsters so they could escape. And now she was gone.“Just a little more,” Oliver whispered to Emery. “We’re almost safe.”But even he didn’t believe that.Behind them, the forest growled.Branches snapped.Something was coming. Then, the air changed.
