Oliver's eyes snapped open after hearing the words of the teacher, and the students spectating couldn't help but laugh at the distracing act from Oliver.

"Go back to your seat, trash, you have no talent to be recorded." Mrs Jane spoke, glaring at Oliver in disdain. Oliver nodded sluggishly as he began to walk back to his seat with a heavy heart, and his eyes glued to the floor to avoid the hateful glares from his classmates.

Oliver sat down on his seat and placed his head on the desk, unable to hold it in any longer, he let the tears flow, but tried his best to stay silent.

The whole world changed after a rift tore open in a certain part of Earth, and powerful beasts that could use strange abilities flooded earth and plunged Earth into immediate danger. During the whole chaos, few individuals discovered that it was possible for them to tap into their inner core and awaken Talents.

The few individuals who discovered it first were able to tap into their core and awaken different powerful abilities, which they used against the beasts and later succeeded in chasing them back to their world.

After the whole chaos was over, the first people who awakened talents began to pass down their knowledge among the people, helping them to awaken several talents that would be very important in case if another invasion happens.

As time passed by, the government made it a law that every child that gets to the age of 16 should go through the awakening ritual and awaken their talents. Parents began to get their children prepared for the day by buying them books related to awakening and giving them the necessary trainings so on that day it would be easy to awaken a talent and become someone in the new world.

Oliver, on the other hand, lost is parents in the first invasion, and didn't get any special trainings that would prepare him for the awakening. That was one of the reason why he failed to awaken any talent.

His parents didn't leave behind any talent books for him to study like other parents, the only thing they left behind was his medical pills for his heart condition. And with no Talent book to study, he had no idea how it really worked and ended up with nothing.

And his foster parents were poor and also couldn't afford one of those books. After Oliver failed to awaken any talent, his foster parents began to treat him like a trash and stranger, until they finally threw him out of the house.

"Why must my case be different from others?" Oliver cried, his head still on the locker to avoid anyone noticing.

Classes for the day was finally over, and Oliver wasted no time in exiting the school premisses. He already went through enough hell for one day and couldn't being himself to spend even one more minute there.

Oliver walked through the streets as usual as he made his way back home. In less than thirty minutes, he arrived back home and walked inside.

It was a one room apartment that barely had enough space to fit in a bed and a cupboard. Oliver threw himself on his bed with his head facing the ceiling that had a hole on it and he could actually see the evening sky through it.

"The entrance test of the Travelers is in a few months time. How am I supposed to contest in the test when I don't even have any talent!" Alex screamed internally with a saddened expression.

After losing his parents in the monsters invasion, Oliver has always had this dream of becoming a Traveler. Travelers is a group of powerful Awakeners that makes sure they keep the world safe and avoid any more invasions.

They also travel through planets, hunting down beasts and collecting their valuable body parts. Oliver has always wanted to become a Traveler to teach those monsters a lesson and also prevent any more invasions that could ruin more families.

However, with the way things were going so far, Oliver wasn't sure if that little dream of his would come to pass.

Before one could become a Traveler, one must first undergo a tough test that proves he is indeed ready to become a Traveler. And the test only happens ones in years, and in different locations.

The test would happen in a few months from now and also in Oliver's school.

"It seems I'll have to forget about it and live the rest of my life as a nobod-" Oliver began to cough suddenly and he stood up from his bed with his left hand on his chest, making his way towards his small wooden cupboard.

Oliver opened the cupboard and took out a small round container that a single blue pill could be seen inside.

"Damn it, just one pill left?" Oliver exclaimed, his eyes glued to the pill inside the transparent container and he was still coughing non-stop. Oliver was born with a heart problem, and the only way to stop the heart problem temporarily was if he keeps taking the pills whenever it happens.

Oliver had no idea what the source of the pills was from, his parents only handed it over to him before they died, and since then he has been swallowing them whenever the issue starts.

"If I take the last one, what would happen later when it starts again?" Oliver contemplated, his whole face now drenched in sweat and bright red due to coughing heavily. "Screw that! Let me worry about living past today first!"

Oliver then opened the container and threw the pill into his mouth, before swallowing it instantly. He picked up a glass of water and gulped it all and placed the glass back on the table.

Oliver wiped his mouth and turned to return back to his bed, but his visions became blurry and it felt like his head was spinning which allowed him to lose balance and fall to the floor.

"What's... happening?" Oliver mused as his eyes began to close and he could barely see anything.

[YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE TASK BY CONSUMING ALL ENERGY PILLS]

[CONGRATULATIONS, YOU HAVE AWAKENED YOUR DIVINE TALENT.....]

Unable to fight it any longer, Oliver finally passed out.

The academy felt colder after the Envoy’s attack. People walked the halls with quiet steps, as if afraid the walls themselves might crack from the weight of what they had witnessed. Oliver felt the change in the air the moment he stepped out of the infirmary. Everything seemed dimmer. Every light hummed with a soft static. Every shadow felt too still. The world had changed, and everyone felt it.The Traveler Guild began investigations at sunrise. Scholars filled the citadel, their robes brushing the marble floors as they hurried between labs and archives. They spoke in low voices, clutching rune tablets, arguing about energy signatures, gravitational distortions, and ancient theories once dismissed as myths.Oliver sat at a round table in the research wing, staring at the holo-screen in front of him. It displayed the Envoy’s last known energy pulse, a violent spiral of black and white flames woven together like a twisted sun.“This pattern,” one of the scholars whispered, “it match

Books fell in heavy thumps across the dorm halls.Oliver shot upright, breathing hard. Another tremor rolled through the room, stronger than the first. The air hummed with static. Down the hall, Iris burst from her room at the same moment. Her hair was tangled, her breath shaky, but her eyes were sharp. “The ground won’t stop shaking,” she said. “What’s happening?”“The System thi

Morning arrived weakly over the ruined plaza of Meridian. The once bright city that had stood proud against the Rift for decades now felt like it had been hollowed out. Cracked tiles covered the ground. Barrier pylons lay shattered, their crystals flickering with dying light. Smoke drifted into the sky like thin black strings being pulled by invisible hands.Oliver stood in the plaza with his unit. Their armor was patched with cloth. Morning crept over the Arcanum Desert like a trembling breath. The air was cold, too cold for a place once famous for its blazing heat. The Worldcore Rift still pulsed darkly at the horizon, a giant wound stitched with black fire. Its surface rippled like the skin of a sleeping beast.Oliver stood on a shattered dune of melted glass. Night fell over the Arcanum Desert like a curtain of ink. The dunes glimmered faintly under a silver moon, but the sky above them churned with something unnatural. Small Rifts flickered across the horizon. They twisted open and shut like blinking eyes, releasing bursts of pale fire that died before touching the sand.Travelers across the desert halted their transports and stared upward. Something in the air tasted wrong. Even the wind moved strangely, carrying a low hum that rattled bones.Oliver stood at the front of his strike unit, boots sinking slightly into the glassy sand. The heat still radiated from earlier Rift surges, making the ground shimmer. Iris stood beside him, staff in hand, sweat dripping down her forehead. Billy checked the charge on his gauntlets, trying to hide the tremor in his fingers.Behind them, dozens of Traveler squads formed a wide arc facing the largest Rift. The portal spun like a black sun surrounded by blue lightning. Every second, it grew wider. T
