System Awakening: Rise Of Thomas Walker

CHAPTER FIVE

Master Iverson frowned and asked. "Your age?"

"I'm eighteen, sir." Thomas replied.

Iverson turned to Allison. She looked troubled.

"This ... hasn't happened before." He said.

The silence was long. Student began whispering. Thomas's throat was dry, his face was already red.

"I...I don't understand..." Thomas muttered.

He turned and pushed through the crowd, students were mocking him and he passed. He ran down the stone corridor. Up the stairs, past the library and into the dormitory.

Thomas slammed the door behind and collapsed on the bed. And for the first time since arriving at the academy...he cried.

That was the beginning of his humiliation in the academy. Weeks passed, Thomas was getting bullied constantly for being weak and not having any powers. He already accepted his fate to die as a loser

"Get your lazy butt up already, Thomas! Go get the recipes for my delicious soup from the farm land!" An elderly man voiced hastily, and a teenage boy rushed out from his room all dressed in his blue jacket and black trousers. A black leather bag was held in his hand.

"Sorry for the delay, father." Thomas apologized as he laced his boots while getting ready to leave.

"Be back before noon cause I still need you for some other things around here, Thomas."  Master Iverson, instructed.

"Understood father." Thomas affirmed before dashing out from the house and heading towards the farm.

Master Iverson was smiling, stood there and was watching Thomas run through the street joyfully.

Despite the humiliation Thomas faced, he still tries to remain cheerful.

Thomas, recently found out he doesn't have any powers and since then he has been struggling.

Day in and day out Thomas and his friend Jerry get bullied by other people who have some kind of rare abilities just because he was weak.

Thomas and his friend, Jerry were almost chased out of the academy just because Jerry was weak and Thomas doesn't have any powers.

The city of Greystone is mostly under great danger which made master Iverson to select warriors to defend the city, people with rare and dangerous abilities to protect the city from harm. Mike and Allison have been doing it for a long time and it's almost time for recruiting.

So far in the academy, the best student that are learning fast are

Duke has what they call Void manipulation. A dark power, which is rare among the warriors. It is believed that when such powers fall into the wrong hands, it could cause chaos and destruction.

Kate has the Illusionist Ability, Kate possesses the power of illusion manipulation. She can create incredibly realistic illusions that can deceive all senses.

She also have Visual Illusions with which Kate can conjure up images that seem completely real, from fantastical landscapes to convincing duplicates of people.

While Brian can move objects with his mind, from small items like pens to large objects like cars, with varying degrees of concentration.

After all students are done with the learning phase, these people are classified as warriors of the land or city due to their bravery and courage to fight for the people of this city.

With great powers comes greediness and thirst to impose the powers on the weak.

The people of Greystone refer to them as God's because they possess abilities no one else possesses.

Jerry and Thomas were average humans and weren't strong enough to fight back, so they had no choice but to endure the humiliation they faced in the academy.

Thomas arrived in the farm land that was mostly covered with trees, grass, and vegetables. Thomas glanced around the place before picking up a cutlass to get to work.

"What good, lovely flowers and vegetables, am here to collect Greystone delicious soup recipes “Thomas said to himself with a smile on his face, you could tell that he was happy.

He cut some sets of fresh vegetables and placed them in the plastic bag, and after some hours of working, he finally filled up the bag.

"Oops, time to rest before I’ll head home." Thomas said to himself as he walked towards a huge fallen tree branch and sat on it.

Thomas took out a loaf of dry bread and a bottle of juice and began to eat hungrily. He only got to eat once a day, but if Duke and his friends were in a good mood he would eat at least twice.

Master Iverson, Mike and Allison does not know that Thomas has been suffering in the hands of bullies for a long time

While Thomas was busy eating down on the bread, two boys and a girl around his age appeared in his location and began to walk towards him.

Catching a glimpse of the group and realizing it was Duke and his guys, Thomas's expression became frightful and he rose up from where he sat.

"What do we have here? The weak boy all alone in a forest like this." Duke, the leader of the group, spoke as he stood directly in front of Thomas.

"T-this isn't a forest Duke. I-I-it's the academy’s farm land." Thomas informed in a shaky tone and his head facing the floor in fear.

"What did you just call me? “Duke said angrily.

"I called you your name, Duke, am I right?” Thomas replied.

"Am a god! I am not like you little weak humans” Duke roars.

"You're not a god, you're just a human with super rare abilities" Thomas said as his eyes were fixed on Duke’s own.

"Okay, I'll show you what my super rare abilities can do then... I'll burn this farm land to the ground" Duke said in a dark tone.

Thomas fell down on his knees and grabbed Duke's legs.

"Please! Don't set me up! If you set it ablaze, master Iverson will think I did it on purpose." Thomas pleaded with tears gathering up in his eyes.

Duke glanced at Thomas for a few seconds before bursting out in laughter.

"That's the plan all along."  Brian voiced while looking down on Thomas. “Now, get the fuck off me!" Duke then kicked Thomas to the side and walked forward.

"Guys, I'll burn down this place!" Duke said as he took a deep breath in and was about to bring out fire from his hands, but Thomas tackled him to the floor.
