The ballroom buzzed, a hive of hushed whispers and shocked gasps. On the large screen behind Damon, a complex web of shell corporations glowed, each one a carefully crafted piece of Morrel Duston’s elaborate tax fraud scheme.

“As you can see,” Damon said, his voice amplified by the microphone, “Mr. Duston’s philanthropy extends far beyond this school. He’s been quite generous… with the government’s money.”

A ripple of nervous laughter went through the crowd. Morrel Duston, his face a mask of disbelief, sputtered, “That’s preposterous! Those are legitimate business expenses!”
