The system forced Gabe to spit, and the half-chewed chicken piece and bones flew out of his mouth and fell on top of his friends.

Utterly shocked, Gabe thought everything was over. He thought they would gang up and beat him so badly he would take a few weeks to recover.

However, to his shock and relief, they didn’t even react.

They were already too drunk at that point to realize what had happened.

“Whew…” Gabe breathed a sigh of relief but then scolded the system. “Are you trying to ruin my relationship with them?”

[What sort of relationship is this? You should be alpha, not a freaking beta when you interact with others!] The system also sharply responded. [Don’t show me this type of behavior again, or you’ll lose my respect.]

Gabe felt threatened by the system’s words. “But, didn’t Jesus tell us to be meek and humble?”

[There’s a difference between being meek and miserable. Jesus is the alpha of alphas. He never begged people to believe in God. He commanded everyone to repent from their sinful life and believe in God, for their own good. That’s how you should be. Alphas never beg. Alphas have unshakable conviction, you understand.]

Gabe felt motivated by the system’s words. “Mm. That makes sense. Wait, don’t you have a name?”

[You can call me Systa.]

“Systa. That’s a lazy name.”

[Yes…. No, it’s not. I’m not lazy. I’ll make you so strong, you’ll even be able to stand on your dick if you want.]

Gabe blinked twice. “T-That’s not possible, right? Surely…” he couldn’t even imagine himself doing that. “You must be joking.”

[Like I said, anything is possible if you trust me.]

“How about you give me a million dollars first?”

[I make alphas not money. If you want a million dollars, you have to work for it. I’ll help you with that.]

“I have to work?” Gabe’s shoulders slumped. “I thought you’ll be able to print money or something.”

[I’m an alpha-making system, not a money-making system.]

Gabe’s eyes shone. “Wait, does that mean there are money-making systems?”

[Yes. I’ve met different kinds of systems a few times, but they all hate me because I’m superior to them. Still, don’t worry. Once you level up, I’ll be able to tame them and make you supremely powerful and rich. Until then, you will need to bear the hate.]

“Huh, so you are also hated, huh…” Gabe weakly exhaled through the mouth. He looked a bit deflated.

[You should just focus on defeating the alphas for now. Do that, and the rest will automatically follow. If you want me to put it in biblical terms. Seek first the kingdom of God, and everything you need will be added to you.]

“This makes sense, too. Anyway, I’ll trust you for now, but don’t control my body without warning.”

[I’ll keep that in mind.]

“How do you even control my body anyway?” Gabe asked in confusion. He really wanted to know. “How’s that even possible, for a mere ring?”

[Human body is made out of soil, but parts of the body interact through electrical signals. I’m just sending such signals to control your body.]

“Wow,” Gabe was impressed as well as shocked. “I had no idea such a thing was even possible.”

[Well, I can control every part of your body, whether it be your brain or your dick.]

Gabe’s shoulders jerked. “Stop. I don’t want to talk about it right now.” It felt quite weird when a female voice talked about his private part.

Once his friends finished their drinking and meals, they put a few dollars in Gabe’s hand and left without cleaning the mess they made on the floor.

When Gabe ate the leftovers and began sweeping the floor, Systa spoke furiously.

[Just for a few dollars, you lick your friends’ boots. Just thinking about it irks my nerves.]

“Maybe, but it’s one of the steady sources of my income,” Gabe shamelessly said. “My friends drink every other day. Over a period of one month, what they give will add up to a hundred dollars and sometimes more. Hundred dollars is not much for them, but it’s a lot for me. It’s very useful to pay the bills.”

[I get that, but you shouldn’t do this anymore. An alpha shouldn’t be subservient to anybody. Tell your friends to look for another spot.]

Gabe’s heart skipped a beat. “If I tell them without giving a damn good reason, they’ll beat me.”

[If you don’t man up, I’ll take over your body and beat their assess black and blue.]

“I-I’ll think of something, so give me some time.”

Just then, someone stopped by the main door. He turned his head and received a big shock. A voluptuous beauty with a wonderful smile on her face was standing at the door. She glowed like a star in a sparkling gold dress that barely exposed her knees. This woman was none other than Kiera, the same woman that had dumped him on his wedding day.

What was she doing here? Why did she come to his house?

Gabe looked baffled. In that second or two, millions of neurons fired in his brain as he wondered what reason brought her to him. Did she perhaps come to regret what she had done to him?

But why did she come right when he was sweeping the floor?

He threw the broom aside and tried to smile.

Kiera entered the house and glanced around before finally settling her eyes on her ex-fiance. “If I had married you, I would be sweeping the floor in your place right now, wouldn’t I?”

Gabe’s smile weakened. In his mind, he was thinking that she wasn’t wrong.

“I didn’t come to poke you, Gabe,” she took out an envelope from her purse. “I came here to personally invite you to my wedding.”

Gabe’s expression froze. She came to meet him after three years just to say this? Did she again bet with her friends that she would make Gabe attend her wedding? She was definitely capable of doing that, he thought.

“It took me three years to find the right one,” Kiera calmly said. “He’s a multi-millionaire who doesn’t let my bare feet touch the ground. He treats me like a treasure, even more than you did. Am I not lucky?”

Gabe forced out a smile and nodded.

“Don’t forget to come to the wedding,” she slightly rested her hand on his shoulder. “I will introduce you to my husband and tell him to give you a job, you know. You look like you need one.” Her words stung him deeply. And then she left.

Gabe walked up to the door and saw Kiera enter a Porsche 911. The man in the driving seat looked tall and handsome. He briefly cast a glance toward Gabe before driving away.

Gabe returned to his old sofa and plopped himself down. He lowered his head; his thumb and forefinger pressing the bridge of his nose.

[Are you controlling yourself from crying? You’re such a beta.]

“Shut up,” Gabe sniffled a little. “I’m not crying. I’m just…”

Even though he didn’t tell outright as to how he was feeling, Systa could tell from the readings of his heart that it was aching so much.

Gabe sat down in a long car with a dozen seats.“Are we really traveling all the way in this vehicle?” Gabe wondered. “Won’t the kidnappers see us coming?”Nobody answered him.Zack, who sat in the driver’s seat, pressed a button, and the car flew into the sky and released thick fog all around it.Without anyone telling Gabe, he understood it.From the outside, the car was hidden inside a cloud-like fog, so the people on the ground could mistake it for a stray cloud.Gabe couldn’t tell how fast the car was moving, or how the fog was able to stick to the car when it was travelling so fast.“Don’t keep your shoulders so stiff,” Pensor snickered at him. “You’re going to suffer from chest pain. Breathe freely.”If it was Gabe from a year back, he wouldn’t have given much credence to Pensor’s words. But now, Gabe nodded in acknowledgment and loosened his shoulders. This surprised Wendy a bit because Gabe was able to look past the mocking laughter of Pensor. The other squad captains were als

The eight squad captains gathered in Zack’s room once more.“He left a mark on Frida’s body? And he can sense it from afar? Sounds like a trap for me,” one captain opined. She was Wendy Cormen, a long-faced lady with an abnormally big nose ring.“I feel the same,” the fat-cheeked man voiced his mind. He was called Fatty Pensor.“We can’t trust some stranger. He might be luring us into a trap. We should interrogate him strictly, and then he’ll reveal his true face.”“Do you not trust my instincts, Pensor?” Zack uttered in a moderately cold voice.“U-Uh, I do, Commander,” Fatty Pensor nervously smiled. “But Young Lady Frida’s life is at stake here. We can’t afford to make even a tiny mistake.”“And we won’t,” Zack replied in an assured tone before unfolding a map. “From what that young man Gabe vaguely described… I think I already have an idea as to where Maccoy might be. It’s this place.”He put his finger on a group of mountains, and this got half the squad captains sweating.“T-The El

With the yellow rose in one hand and carrying Gabe on his shoulder, Maccoy was walking away.He jumped and covered many miles in just a few steps and crossed the crater that had formed before. It took Mia all her strength to just get up to her feet. After losing the luna system, she felt terribly weak. The system wasn’t responding to her anymore, either.Mia was certain that she had lost her system. What’s more, she felt like a patient suffering from high fever.Still, she moved in the direction Maccoy had left. After taking a few steps, she collapsed and lost consciousness.“I’ve wasted more time than I thought. I better vanish before…” Maccoy was saying, but he paused.A moment later, he let out a breath and looked to his left. The captain commander, Zack, was standing about a hundred feet away from him.“Tsk, I heard you were out on important business and wouldn’t return for at least three days,” Maccoy tossed Gabe aside and put the yellow rose in his pocket. “I guess the news trav

A minute earlier.Gabe fell down after taking Maccoy’s Earth Ender technique.“I only used thirty percent of my strength, but still, he managed to channel it through his body and send it to the earth,” Maccoy put the club on his shoulder and stared at Gabe whose eyes still had life in them. “Your body isn’t used to aura yet, so how come you were able to pull off such a crazy feat? Even my body wouldn’t have been able to reroute the energy in the manner that you did. This makes me want to know about your system all the more.”Maccoy released vivre in the shape of a hand and touched Gabe’s chest with it. “Soul Pull!”He tried to pull Gabe’s lifeforce out, expecting that it’d reveal his system as well. However, he was not able to pull Gabe’s life energy out.“Huh?” He tried again and again, but it didn’t work. “What’s going on? Why isn’t my vivre working?”This was the first time this ever happened to Maccoy so he was quite confused.“Just what kind of system does this brat have for it t

Gabe didn’t yet realize that he was beginning to manifest aura, though in an advanced manner and not how beginners usually released it.Nevertheless, he was still very much aware of how his senses were improving.Even though he was in the middle of flames, he could feel the weight of the flames, as if he were under a hundred feet deep in the ocean. He could feel the weight of the air as if it was liquid. He could also feel the difference between the flames and the air and distinguish them.He was in a deep understanding of all matters around him, whether they be solid, liquid, gas or even the plasmic energy he was leaking out of his body in the form of lightning fusing with the winds, forming a tempestuous, storm-like energy. He himself felt like he was nothing but a tiny fly in the vast expanse, so much so that even the molecules of air around him appeared significant to him.Normally, one wouldn’t even notice the air around them no matter how hard they squinted their eyes or focused

The leader raised his arm, and his spiked club came flying and landed in his hand. He infused it with a bluish flaming aura that released vapors so thick it looked like a mini cloud was forming high above that neighborhood. So much energy was being leaked from him.Seeing the potential danger Gabe’s lightning held, he wanted to end the fight as soon as possible and get away from here.He leaped forth and swung his spiked club with his whole body’s momentum and energy behind it. “Dragon Cracker!”It was an attack that once broke a dragon’s bones.Gabe sensed the incredible energy held in that attack, which he didn’t think he’d be able to block. His body released as much lightning as he could to his front while his feet pushed him backward and away from that old man. Thanks to this, he was able to make some distance and dodge a direct hit from the club, but the sheer shockwave from the swing of the club still released a tsunami of flames that traveled for miles and swallowed Gabe as wel
