Zack Newman.

That was the name of Kiera’s fiance. According to what most of the public knew, he owned a digital marketing agency, and his estimated net worth was over 99 million dollars.

As if that wasn’t enough to demoralize Gabe, he came to know that Zack was only 32 years old. How did Kiera whose family owned a grocery store was able to make such a rich, young man fall for her? Gabe had no idea.

“He’s not much older than me, but he’s got ninety-nine freaking million dollars in the bank,” Gabe cursed himself. “I totally understand why Kiera wants to share her life with him.”

[Stop sulking. I told you I will get you rich, so rich that Zack Newman will lick your boots for your attention. But right now, let’s go hunt some alphas. For starters, is there any popular bar in this neighborhood?]

“Yeah, there is one that is not far from my house, but why do you want me to go there?”

[Because we have some work to do. I’ll make you a much more distinguished person than Zack.]

“Are you going to make me a bartender or what?”

[If you go there, you will know.]

“Alright.”

After arranging the water bottle and snacks for his aunt, he kissed her goodbye and then set out on his little mission.

“I was actually thinking of participating in the marathon that’s going to be held in a couple of days. There’s 250,000 dollars of prize money for the 1st prize.”

[If you can keep doing what I ask of you until the marathon day, you’ll definitely win it.]

Gabe was quite surprised. “Really?” He was born with a weak physique, but he still participated in running races whenever possible, though he always ranked near the bottom. “Will I really be able to do it now?”

[You’ll be physically capable of doing it. But mentally, it will depend on you. Then again, if you give me the control, you don’t need to worry about anything.]

“I want to win the race with my own mental fortitude,” Gabe said. “So, how are we going to level up? By beating another alpha?”

[Yes, you don’t need to defeat them all physically. Defeating them in any area, especially ones they’re good at will also give you a boost, after all.]

“Then…” Gabe hesitantly said. “How can I defeat Zack ‘in any area?’ That guy is taller than me, richer than me, and of course, more handsome than me. His eyes are also just fine. He’s better than me in every freaking area.”

[Are you sure? I think both of your farts will smell just as bad.]

Gabe went silent for a second. “I eat eggs often, so I think mine will smell more bad.”

Systa went silent this time.

“Tell me… How can I defeat him?” Gabe ardently asked.

[Generally, a human would need to observe fellow capable humans and mimic certain aspects and improve themselves over time, but with me around, you don’t need to go through all that. You’re only a Novice Alpha now, but Zack is a Master Alpha, so you will stand no chance against him, be it physically or mentally, but fret not, we’ll surpass him one day.]

“M-Master Alpha?” Gabe’s heart skipped a beat. “That sounds so powerful. I had no idea he was such an experienced alpha!”

“Levels aren’t purely determined by one’s physical strength. My alpha-meter takes everything into consideration when ascertaining one’s level.]

“What about Kiera? Is she an alpha?”

[No. Only males can be an alpha. Females can be either luna, beta, or lower ranked candidates. As for Kiera, she’s a Luna candidate at Expert level.]

“Whoa, what about Mia?” Gabe couldn’t help but ask.

[She’s also a Luna candidate, but she’s leveled at Apprentice.]

“What?” Gabe was shocked. “Kiera is more powerful than Mia?” he couldn’t believe it.

[Yes. She’s more confident and controlling compared to Mia who’s more of a caring type.]

“I-I don’t believe it.”

[Whether you believe it or not, that’s the truth. Mia and Kiera are not the same. Mia makes for a much more caring mother, whereas Kiera will be much better in bed. Wait, you were her fiance, weren’t you? Didn’t you sleep with her?]

Gabe’s face turned into that of a chimpanzee’s. “I had no experience with sex. So, I was afraid she might leave me if she didn’t like me in bed, so I kept postponing it. Now, I’m still a virgin.”

[Geez… you are a beta among betas, but that’s also exactly why I chose you!]

Gabe touched his face in embarrassment and shame. Even if he had tried to sleep with Kiera, he doubted that she might not have complied and would have probably given all kinds of excuses, given her intention had always been to win the bet.

[Where’s the thanks?]

“I’ll thank you after you make me win the marathon!” Gabe hurriedly said and looked at the neighbor’s large house. “I won’t be able to buy this big house even with that prize money, but I want to be able to buy this type of a house one day.”

Just then, a heavy-duty vehicle stopped in front of the duplex house with a wide porch and a wonderful lawn and backyard. A benz GL class SUV stopped by, and many new faces got out of the car and began looking at the duplex house.

“Excuse me,” Gabe hesitantly asked the woman wearing sparkling clothes and was studded in jewelry. “Are you buying this house?” She was taller and much fatter than him. She was also quite pale.

She looked at Gabe from top to bottom and snorted but said nothing.

Gabe was annoyed by her unfriendly attitude.

However, the man beside him, her husband, who was a dark-skinned man, replied, “We already bought it. We’re moving in today.”

“Oh, that’s great,” Gabe said and forced out a smile. He didn’t feel like staying there anymore, so he was walking away, but then a familiar face got out of the Benz car, and his heart started skipping all of a sudden, for it was Mia Reyes.

Zevrik’s zagged sword came down like lightning, seeking to slice through Lusifel’s body.Miguel and Reveria were too far to do anything.Vulcan was grinning, thinking his side had succeeded. But something flew past him and stopped Zevrik’s sword. It wasn’t a person but a mere feather. It was bigger than a human. It wrapped around Lusifel like a shield.Zevrik was about to swing the sword again, but a shadow loomed over them, stopping him in his tracks. He looked up and saw a mountainous beast whose eyes were locked on him.Neroth frowned. “What is this beast?” He felt goosebumps because the sheer presence of this monster was unsettling even for the likes of him.“I’ve heard of a being that lives near Elderwood, one that could fight even dragons,” Kaelor said, his voice rough from a mix of emotions. “They call it the Sleeping Disaster. If I can kill that beast, its shadow will become mine. I will grow much stronger.”“Since it’s trying to protect King Lusifel, we have no choice but to

“Stop staring like owls and come over here and help me,” Vulcan shouted. All four of them flashed next to Vulcan in the blink of an eye. They slowly removed their hoods. This was the first time Vulcan or Lusifel was seeing them.“Introduce yourself,” Vulcan laughed.“I’m Neroth, the Fifth Shadow Guard of the great emperor,” he was thin and pale, with long black hair and a single hollow silver eye. He gave the unsettling impression that he could look beyond what others could see. His missing eye is covered by a cracked obsidian monocle that glowed faintly with shadowy energy.“This is the fourth shadow guard, Kelor the Dusk Reaper,” Neroth introduced others.Kaelor looked less like a human and more like a shadow given armor. His cloak was stitched from the hides of slain shadow beasts, and faint whispers followed him wherever he walked. His face was still partially hidden behind a bone mask, revealing only pale, exhausted eyes.“And this one is the sixth shadow guard, Drave the Little

The battle moved to the courtyard.Lusifel ordered Fynror to go and help the other knights deal with Vulcan’s supporters.Fynror, however, refused to leave Lusifel’s side.“Don’t make me repeat myself,” Lusifel growled. “What’s the point of ruling a city after all our people die? Aren’t we better than beasts?”Fynror gnashed his teeth. “Be careful, My Lord.” He said and then quickly left the castle.Vulcan, on the other hand, laughed as he recklessly spammed his flaming attacks. It seemed like he had an endless supply of power. The castle walls didn’t just crack but burned to powder just from the sheer heat given off by his attacks. The metals didn’t just melt but evaporated into the atmosphere, for his flames were not ordinary but had the divine power behind them.“You were born in Vulcan District…” Lusifel said. “During my journey, I found you and brought you here, fed you, trained you and raised you, and yet this is how you repay the kindness I showed to you.”“I’ve long repaid you

  • CHAPTER 604

Lusifel walked out of the prison and then stood on the balcony of his castle, facing eastward. The wind was blowing rougher than usual. The old guard standing behind him was completely blind. He had lost his eyes long back, which was something he had done to prove his loyalty to the king.“Fynror… what do you think I should do if they come up here with my son?” Lusifel said.“If that happens, that is His Highness’ destiny,” the old guard, Fynror, replied.Lusifel’s expression did not change. “Destiny…” he looked up. “Can it be changed? The stars I’ve been seeing since my childhood have been spinning the same way round the earth despite how our days and nights are. I used to think that they must surely mock us, seeing how much we struggle to live and survive.“Since I first saw a white hair in my beard, I’ve been wondering how pointless life really is. Nothing is permanent in this world, not our lives, not this kingdom, not this tree we live on… and perhaps not even the earth itself. Y

An hour earlier. On the 111th realm. The city was filled with nervous nobles who did not know which side they must take. They were so on the edge, they didn’t drink water or even breathe freely.Should they side with King Lusifel? His bloodline has been ruling Elderwood for ages, so choosing him seemed like the right option. But if the leaked news was correct, then Prince Miguel was already captured by Aqua Knight and Horgror, a criminal with a million gold bounty on his head.Would Lusifel be able to fight with his full strength when his son was being held hostage? The nobles and their knights were in a dilemma like they have never been before. There were cases where people rebelled, but the current rebellion was an unprecedented one because the Swanmere family was said to be bringing along all the ministers and nobles and knights from the bottom up.Anybody could guess that they would have a massive army by the time they reached the top.Instead of stopping them before they could ge

  • CHAPTER 602

From afar, it looked like a black star rising up the sky like a sun would every single day. But Gabe could see that they were high in the sky and were traveling straight. It wasn’t a vehicle but a person.A single person giving off the energy of a burning mountain while moving through the sky.“Whoever it is, they’re probably as strong as Aqua Knight. I have to stop them before they reach the top of this tree.” Gabe jumped off the 86th realm and flew through the sky, much faster than sound. He used Storm Step to propel himself in pulses and accelerated to a ridiculous level of speed.“Mm?” the person flying in the distance suddenly stopped and looked in Gabe’s direction. The next second, Gabe’s foot was in their face. She ducked immediately, and the clouds in the back got cut in half. She spun like a top and attacked Gabe, but he deflected her kick and grabbed her face. “Who the hell are you?” she growled, but then her expression froze when she saw his face.“That’s my question,” Gabe
