Magnus took a deep breath and brought the sole of the loafer to his mouth. The stench hit him instantly—foul, pungent, disgusting.
With his eyes shut tight, he licked the bottom of the shoe.
It tasted exactly like he expected: filth. His stomach turned. And it only got worse when Julius and the rest burst out laughing.
When he looked up, he saw Julius recording him with his phone camera.
“Keep going! A rat like you should be used to licking shit, right?!” Julius jeered.
The fury inside Magnus boiled over—but he held it in. For his mother, he forced himself to lick every inch of the filthy sole until it was clean. Then he threw the loafer back at Julius.
“Done,” Magnus said, standing up and turning to Vincent. “Now give me the money.”
Vincent nodded. He asked for Magnus’s bank account. Two minutes later, when Magnus checked his mobile banking app, the money was there—10 million dollars transferred.
“Remember, this is a loan. That means you owe us. Don’t forget that, you broke piece of shit,” Julius spat.
Magnus glared at him. One day, he’d pay him back. With interest.
He turned around and left the Barbosa mansion without another word, heading straight to the hospital. As soon as he arrived, he paid for the surgery.
The next morning, the operation was carried out. His mother’s life was saved—but the damage to her body had been so severe that she slipped into a coma.
Magnus explained everything to his younger siblings—Jasmine and Jonas. He told them the truth: the money came from the Barbosa family, and he had agreed to take Julius’s place in the military draft.
Jasmine was in shock. She asked him what would happen to them while he was gone. Jonas said nothing, but the rage and disappointment in his eyes were louder than words.
To ease their fears, Magnus promised that he would take full responsibility for the debt. He swore to send the majority of his military paycheck to Jasmine every month.
Days passed. Then came the moment to say goodbye.
“Jonas, since you’ll be the only man in this family for more than a year, I’m leaving Mom and Jasmine to you. I’ll transfer most of my paycheck to your account each month to Jasmine, so you guys don’t need to worry about the debt,” Magnus said, slinging a long, heavy duffel bag over his shoulder.
Jonas gave no reply. He didn’t even look at him. He just kept fixing the hospital bed their mother was lying in.
Magnus turned to Jasmine, patted her on the head, and looked her in the eye.
“Don’t worry. A year and a half will fly by.”
Jasmine’s expression said otherwise.
Magnus forced a smile. Then he turned and walked out of the room, taking a deep breath to stop the tears from falling.
His military service began. One month in, war broke out on the eastern border. Magnus was deployed to the front line. Then hell came.
He was shot multiple times and left bleeding out in the dirt. No medics. No reinforcements. Just blood, pain, and the slow approach of death.
But fate had other plans.
In that moment, a mysterious system activated inside him, offering him a way out: cheat death—but in exchange, he’d be sent to a anoter world where he’d have to forge himself anew.
‘I don’t wanna die. I cannot die here.’
That’s what he thought at that critical moment.
Then he accepted the mysterious system’s offer. And suddenly, a swirling, dark-blue portal appeared before his eyes.
In a second, he was strongly pulled into the portal. Then the portal vanished.
Three years later…
In the dead of night, the same portal appeared on the outskirts of Mersyvale—far from the city, near the edge of nowhere.
From the portal stepped a tall, muscular man with long hair flowing behind him. His body crackled faintly with electricity, and his glowing blue eyes burned through the dark.
It was Magnus. He finally returned.
Behind him, emerged a monster—three meters tall, part wolf, part bear. It stood upright, had a wolf’s snarling face, and a hulking body. From its back, two massive, bat-like wings were folded tightly.
As they crossed into this world, the nearby streetlights flickered violently. Stray dogs rummaging through garbage scattered, whimpering and howling in fear.
“My Lord,” the monster growled, glancing left and right, “are you sure this is the place? I sense no mana here at all.”
“This is it,” Magnus replied. “My hometown.”
He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply.
The scent of old memories washed over him. His heart stirred. He couldn’t wait to see his mother and siblings again.
Three years had passed since the system had taken over his life. In that world of monsters and magic, Magnus had become something else—something more. With the system’s help, he had learned thousands of spells, slain monsters, conquered ancient rulers, and earned power beyond reckoning.
Now, the system had told him: his mission was complete. There was nothing left to do.
So Magnus chose to return. Even though it meant sacrificing much of the strength he had gained.
“Where to now, My Lord?” the monster asked.
“That way,” Magnus pointed toward the far end of a wide road. “There’s an old house down there. That’s where my family lives.”
He had considered heading to the hospital, but it had been three years. He believed his mother had recovered by now.
FWOOOSH!
The dark-blue monster spread its massive wings, crouching low and planting its front legs on the roadside.
“Hop on, My Lord,” the monster said.
Magnus leapt onto its back.
Moments later, the monster soared into the sky, flapping its wings with a thunderous rhythm that echoed through the night.
...
Meanwhile, in a room at the back of Magnus’s family home…
“Please don’t do this… please…” Jasmine sobbed, kneeling in front of two men who looked down at her with disgust. Her clothes were disheveled, her boobs partially exposed.
SLAP!
The man with blue-dyed hair struck her across the face.
“Shut your mouth! You still owe the Barbosa family a mountain of debt, and this is the third month you’ve failed to pay. It’s only right you pay with your body.”
The other man, with red-dyed hair, crouched in front of her. He grabbed her by the hair and yanked her to her feet.
Jasmine cried out in pain, but he didn’t give a damn about it.
“Let me spell it out for you,” he said, pressing his lips close to her cheek. “Julius gave us the green light. To him, you’re worth nothing. You should be grateful we’re letting you pay off your debt by fucking us. Understand?”
Without an ounce of pity, the red-haired man threw her onto the bed, climbed on top of her, and pinned her down by the wrists.
“Please… I beg you… don’t do this…” Jasmine wept, voice trembling.
“You can cry all you want,” he sneered. “No one’s coming to save you.”
“He’s right,” said the blue-haired thug, climbing onto the bed and licking his lips. “Just give in and let us enjoy that fine body of yours.”
“Fight us and we’ll make it worse,” the red-haired one whispered, breathing down her neck and licking it.
Jasmine shut her eyes, tears pouring down her cheeks. In her heart, she cursed Magnus.
He was the idiot who agreed to replace Julius in the military draft. He died for nothing. And because of that, she had to bear the full burden of that ten-million-dollar debt.
Julius had told her everything himself—three years ago. He had smiled like a devil when he did it.
Magnus’s death had given Julius complete control over her.
SHRIP!
Jasmine’s eyes flew open as the blue-haired man pulled down her jeans. She tried to resist, but the red-haired man was straddling her boobs now, groping her.
She didn’t know what else to do. She shut her eyes again and sobbed harder.
She begged, again and again, for them to stop.
Of course, they didn’t.
In desperation, Jasmine screamed—
SLAP!
The red-haired bastard smacked her hard enough to split her lip.
“Shut up, bitch! Just take it and enjoy the ride!” he roared in her face.
Jasmine fell into despair. She closed her eyes one more time, screaming in her heart:
‘Somebody… please help me! Please…’
Then—
BOOM!!!
A violent crash shook the house.
Jasmine’s eyes snapped open.
“YOU BASTARDS!!! HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO MY SISTER!”

If You Want Pain, Then You'll Get It
To save time, Magnus hailed a cab.He didn’t realize that while he was standing on the sidewalk waiting, a middle-aged man stepped out of Apple & Poisson and quietly watched him.The moment Magnus climbed into the taxi, the man hurried to the bar’s parking lot, got into his car—a dark green military SUV—and tailed the cab.Inside the cab, Magnus rested a small black case across his lap. It made him uneasy—he wasn’t used to carrying something like that, especially knowing it held twenty million dollars in cash.He noticed the cab driver sneaking glances at the case through the rearview mirror. Magnus couldn’t tell if the man had bad intentions or not, but if he did, Magnus wouldn’t hesitate to break him. After about ten minutes on the road, the cab driver suddenly said, “Sir, I think we’re being followed.”Magnus fought the urge to glance back. “You sure?”The cab driver nodded. “What would you like me to do, sir? Should I speed up? Or maybe take a side road so we can shake them?”Magn
Give Me My Money!
The spectators immediately turned their eyes to Jeff. Clara, still covering her nose and mouth with Magnus’s T-shirt, glared sharply at the fat man and stormed toward him.“Jeff, is what Magnus said true? Did you deliberately poison the fighters in the arena?” Clara snapped.Jeff looked at Clara. “No. Why the hell would I do that? What he just said was fucking nonsense!” he denied.“Then explain what just happened! Where did that thick white smoke come from? Weren’t you the one who sprayed it?” Clara pressed. She had a strong reason to be this furious with Jeff. The gas sprayed into the arena seemed dangerous, and if it had harmed Magnus—especially killed him—Clara would be in serious trouble.Krystal Lim, whom she respected, had entrusted Magnus to her personally. It was Clara’s duty to make sure he was safe—at the very least, he could not be allowed to fall victim to such a dirty trick.“That was… a technical error. Yeah, what happened just now was a technical error,” Jeff said, sou
I’ll End This In A Minute
Twelve minutes later, the special fight Jeff had announced to the spectators was ready to begin.Magnus stepped into the arena first, met with boos and jeers from the spectators. They were still furious—after all, the Blue Hulk, the fighter whom they bet their money on, had been crushed so easily by Magnus.Just like in his first fight, Magnus didn’t care in the slightest. He focused only on the match ahead. Four opponents at once. His goal: finish this quickly and walk away with tens of millions of dollars. The spectators roared as Jeff called in Magnus’s opponents one by one—Luke the Blade, Kuma the Bear, the Terrifying Golan, the Almighty Xavier. Interestingly, each man carried a weapon.Magnus glanced toward Clara, silently demanding an explanation. She only shrugged and shook her head.Magnus returned his gaze to the four fighters. His suspicion was clear—Jeff had allowed them to carry weapons to make this “special fight” more entertaining. Or perhaps, Jeff simply wanted to ensur
Where Did You Learn To Fight Like That?
The spectators erupted, cheering for the Blue Hulk, thinking he’d finished Magnus with a single blow. But then they spotted Magnus—standing tall several meters behind the hulking fighter—and the noise died at once.Magnus looked perfectly fine. He regarded the Blue Hulk with lazy eyes, as if the fight was too dull to bother with.Realizing Magnus was behind him, the Blue Hulk slowly turned.“Fast move,” he muttered. “Not bad for a newbie.”Magnus gave no response. He’d fought thousands of battles, and by now, he could gauge an opponent’s strength from the very first strike. And he was certain: the Blue Hulk was weak. Nothing but raw muscle and brute force—totally useless against him.“I came here to win, but if this fight doesn’t even entertain me, I’ll be disappointed,” Magnus said loud enough for the whole arena to hear. “Show me your real power when you attack me again.”The spectators broke into a low buzz. Some mocked Magnus for his arrogance, others cursed him and prayed for the
Is This Your First Fight?
It wasn’t strange at all to see a high-ranking soldier at an illegal fighting pit. But the fact that this one showed up in full uniform—complete with his rank insignia—made Magnus frown. Was this man deliberately trying to be recognized? Magnus wondered.Magnus didn’t know Kauffman, but Clara did. The moment she saw the major glaring at Magnus with a wolfish face, she quickly stepped back, trying to defuse the tension.“Please kindly forgive my friend, Major,” Clara said carefully. “I think this is just a misunderstanding. He didn’t mean to offend you, let alone challenge you.”Kauffman’s eyes slid to Clara. He scanned her from head to toe like a merchant sizing up merchandise before making a purchase.Of course, since Clara had once been a prostitute in a brothel, she had the face and figure for it, and Kauffman swallowed hard the instant he got a good look at her.He finally let go of Magnus’s shoulder. “Next time, watch the fuck where you’re going,” he snapped, giving Magnus one la
I Want Him Fired
Brad couldn’t believe what he had just heard.“Wait, wait. You’re telling me that this bum was really sent here by Madam? Are you serious?”Clara’s eyes scanned Magnus up and down. To be honest, even she wasn’t fully convinced—Magnus looked way too ordinary for someone personally dispatched by Krystal Lim.But it was Krystal herself who had called half an hour ago, telling her that a long-haired man named Magnus would be coming to The Oathroom to meet her, and that Clara had to treat him as a special guest.Besides, the handwriting on that note really was Krystal Lim’s.“Just step aside, Brad. Think of him as coming in with me, which means he doesn’t need to show a membership card. He was sent here directly by Madam,” Clara said.Brad glared at Magnus for a moment as if he was about to tear him apart. “This is insane!” he roared. “I’m the operational manager of this elite bar, and I’m not letting some beggar like him walk in. Not even if you’re scheming with him!”Brad shot Clara a s
