The tension instantly swept through Casey and the other customers in the VIP section of the cafeteria. Magnus, meanwhile, remained calm. He shook off his wet left hand, droplets of dark red wine splattering onto the floor.

‘So, this is Mayor Kauffman, the most powerful man in this city?’ Magnus recalled Robbert’s rant when he tried to intimidate him earlier at Skyline Gadgets.

There was something different about Kauffman. The aura radiating from his body leaned dark, oppressive even. But still, to Magnus, it was nothing.

He had faced countless monsters over the past three years whose presence and aura were far darker, far more terrifying.

“You walk in here, throw wine at me, and now you threaten to cut my neck or face? Where do you think we are right now? Inside some solitary confinement cell where no one can see us?”

Magnus said it with a mocking glare. The tone of derision in his voice made the mayor snap, and he lunged at him.

Whoosh!

Smack!

Clang!

Kauffman tried to drive the jagge

  • Mysterious Black Box

Magnus finished restoring the house and collapsed onto the long sofa in the family room, turning on the TV.He flipped through channels until he found SpongeBob SquarePants. But he wasn't watching it; he was thinking about a few things.First, he considered the possibility of moving, of taking his family to a new, more secure house. He felt this was necessary—even urgent—considering there had been two large-scale attacks on this house just that night alone, and it wasn't the first time.By moving his family to a safer neighborhood, he could relax a bit more. But the problem was that a house in a safe area in Merseyvale would be astronomically expensive. Magnus had to figure out how to raise that money quickly.Second, he considered the possible response from the Barbosa family, as well as their accomplices.Magnus had intentionally only revived Frank without restoring his lost memories. This memory wipe was a form of punishment for Frank's two assassination attempts through his police

  • Do Something About This Amnesia!

Viona held Frank in a tight embrace, her body shaking with sobs. Bianca's eyes grew wet and glassy, the emotion catching her too. Marco, meanwhile, remained as cold and aloof as ever."Thank God you're finally awake. Thank God," Viona said, pulling back. She ran her soft hand along her husband's cheek, a relieved smile on her face. But Frank just stared at her with a dazed, confused look."Where am I?" he asked, his voice weak."You're home. You were... " Viona paused, hesitant to tell him that Magnus had been the one to bring him back. "You were brought here unconscious. We were so worried you wouldn't wake up."The lie was necessary. Viona couldn't stand the thought of giving Magnus any credit, not after she had thrown him out and told him she didn't need him anymore. In the end, Viona was no different than Marco. This was the true nature of the Barbosa family."Is he really okay?" Bianca asked, looking at Liu.Liu, who had been quietly taking in Frank's revival, began to examine hi

  • He's Awake!

“Who am I? Does it even matter?” Magnus asked with a mocking smile.“Yes, it does. Because you just openly doubted my ability in front of my client,” Liu shot back.Magnus chuckled. “Then prove it. Show us you can actually wake him up.”“You don’t have to listen to him, Healer Liu. Just ignore him. He knows nothing about your skills,” Viona cut in.“She’s right,” Marco piled on. “This bastard—this illegitimate piece of trash—he’s not a Healer, not anything. Claiming he’s the only one who can wake up my brother-in-law? Bullshit. Don’t waste your ears on him.”Liu frowned at both of them, then turned back to Magnus.“You stay right there. Watch how I bring this man back,” she said firmly.Magnus only smirked, raising an eyebrow. He leaned against the wall by the door, folding his arms across his chest.Liu got to work. She had Viona undo all the buttons on Frank’s uniform, tore open the undershirt beneath, then pulled out a case of acupuncture needles. A candle was lit, a small dish fil

  • You Tried To Trick Me!

Ever since Magnus returned to Merseyvale, this was the third time he’d come face-to-face with Marco, and the tension between them only kept escalating.Marco glared at him with burning rage, like he wanted to rip him apart. Magnus, in contrast, just stared back with that same cold, cutting gaze.“So you won’t give me your word—that you and your family will never mess with me and my family again?” Magnus asked. “Do you really understand the consequences?”His finger shifted toward Frank, but his eyes never left Marco.“He might never wake up,” Magnus said flatly. “Get used to seeing him like this—days, weeks, months, even years. Only I can bring him back.”Viona’s eyes went wide. She shot to her feet and confronted him. “Give me back my husband! Wake him up right now!”Magnus glanced at her and let out a low chuckle. “And why should I do that? You think you can order me around? No, you can’t. Listen carefully—I’ll wake him up only if Marco, the head of this precious Barbosa family, g

  • You Think Too Highly Of Yourself

At the Barbosa mansion...“Where the hell is that healer you called? Why isn’t he here yet?!” Marco barked. No one dared to answer. Viona, the one Marco had told to call her healer acquaintance, kept her head down. Quietly, she texted her again, asking where she was at the moment. They had called the healer to treat Melvin. Last night, they were shocked when Frank came into the house carrying Melvin—knocked out cold, his face swollen and barely recognizable. They had tried to reach Flynn, but to their surprise, Flynn refused to come. Apparently, Flynn was still bitter about what had happened at the hospital. He felt the Barbosa family had tossed him aside. So they had no choice but to call another doctor. The doctor did his job, and for a moment Melvin seemed better. But by the next morning, Melvin was groaning in pain again. His bruises and swelling were still there. That morning they called yet another doctor. Same result—temporary relief, then the pain returned by the evening.Mar

  • Get Out! Face Me Like A Man!

Without answering Frank’s question, Kauffman turned his back and walked away.Confused, Frank half-ran to catch up with him. “Mayor, what the hell is going on? Are you hiding something from me?”Kauffman stopped and turned. His eyes were burning with rage.“Our deal is off. And for the time being, don’t you dare try dragging me into your mess again,” he said.Frank froze. Stunned. Truly bewildered. In the end, he let Kauffman return to the armored vehicle, and the convoy drove away. The young police officer approached Frank. “Sir, should we inform this to the others?”Frank exhaled sharply, irritation written all over his face. Tonight was supposed to be his night of vengeance. Tonight, he was supposed to beat Magnus to a pulp before finishing him off.Magnus had broken Julius’s arm, openly defied the Barbosa family, and smashed Melvin’s face into a swollen mess.To Frank, all of it was unforgivable. And since he had already told Marco about his plan tonight, there was no way he could
