CHAPTER 1 - THE BOY WHO DREAMED OF GODS
last update2026-09-11 09:49:18

The first thing Kael remembered was dying.

The second thing he remembered was opening his eyes.

He was standing beneath a sky that did not belong to Earth.

Three moons hung above him.

One was silver.

One was black.

The third burned red like an enormous eye.

Around him stretched an ocean of darkness, yet he was standing upon its surface as though the water itself had become solid beneath his feet.

Something enormous moved beneath him.

Kael looked down.

A shadow larger than mountains passed underneath the black ocean.

Then it opened its eyes.

Kael should have been afraid.

Instead, he heard himself laugh.

Not the laugh of a frightened young man.

A deeper laugh.

Ancient.

Commanding.

Familiar.

“You took long enough.”

The creature beneath the water answered.

Not with words.

With thunder.

The heavens shook.

The three moons shattered.

Kael raised one hand.

Everything became silent.

The ocean froze.

The creature stopped moving.

The stars themselves seemed to wait for his permission to continue existing.

Then a voice spoke behind him.

“Supreme One.”

Kael turned.

An army stood across the horizon.

Millions of beings.

Angels.

Demons.

Dragons.

Creatures whose bodies belonged to nightmares.

Warriors covered in gold armor.

Serpentine kings.

Winged queens.

Giants.

Things without names.

Every one of them was kneeling.

Every one of them was looking at him.

And somehow, Kael knew them.

He knew their names.

Their histories.

Their kingdoms.

Their secrets.

He knew who loved him.

He knew who feared him.

He knew who wanted him dead.

Most terrifyingly—he knew that every single one of them had once called him something.

Father.

King.

Creator.

Destroyer.

Brother.

Enemy.

God.

Kael looked toward the horizon.

A woman stood alone among the kneeling army.

Long silver hair flowed behind her.

Her eyes were the color of violet fire.

She smiled.

The sight of her struck him harder than any weapon.

He knew her.

He had known her for longer than he could remember.

She walked toward him.

“My love.”

Kael’s chest tightened.

He reached for her.

And the world exploded.

---

Kael woke screaming.

He sat upright in his bed, breathing heavily.

For several seconds, he could not understand where he was.

There were no three moons.

No frozen ocean.

No armies.

No woman with violet eyes.

Only darkness.

His bedroom.

His ceiling fan.

The faint glow of a streetlight entering through the curtains.

Human life.

Normal life.

He pressed a trembling hand against his chest.

His heart was racing.

Again.

The dreams had returned.

For as long as Kael could remember, he had dreamed of impossible places.

Sometimes he was flying.

Sometimes he was drowning.

Sometimes he was standing before armies.

Sometimes he was sitting upon a throne while thousands of beings bowed before him.

But tonight had been different.

Tonight, he had remembered.

Not everything.

Just enough to frighten him.

A name.

Azael.

Kael whispered it.

“Azael.”

The moment the name left his lips, every light in the house went out.

His breathing stopped.

A low vibration passed through the room.

The darkness seemed to become heavier.

Then something inside his chest answered.

Once.

Thump.

Kael froze.

Twice.

Thump.

Three times.

THUMP.

The floor beneath his bed cracked.

Kael jumped backward.

A faint symbol appeared on the center of his chest beneath his shirt.

It looked like a circle surrounded by seven strange markings.

He stared at it.

He had never seen it before.

Yet something deep inside him recognized it.

A voice whispered inside his mind.

Not yet.

Kael’s eyes widened.

“Who are you?”

Silence.

Then:

You.

The symbol disappeared.

The lights came back on.

Kael stood completely still.

Outside, somewhere in the distance, a dog began barking.

A car passed along the road.

Life continued as though nothing had happened.

But Kael knew something had changed.

He walked toward the mirror.

His reflection stared back.

Twenty-two years old.

Black hair.

Brown eyes.

Lean body.

Nothing unusual.

Nothing divine.

Nothing monstrous.

Nothing extraordinary.

Just Kael Ardent.

The second son of the Ardent family.

A young man from an old family whose fortune had diminished over the years.

A university graduate with no remarkable career.

A man whose greatest recent achievement had been surviving a difficult final semester.

An ordinary human.

That was what everyone believed.

Kael touched the mirror.

His reflection did the same.

Then, for the briefest fraction of a second—the reflection smiled.

Kael did not.

He stepped backward.

The reflection changed.

Its eyes became golden.

Its skin developed faint scales.

Black wings appeared behind its shoulders.

Then horns.

Then the face became something impossibly ancient.

Kael blinked.

Everything returned to normal.

He stared at himself.

“What the hell is happening to me?”

His phone rang.

Kael nearly dropped it.

He looked at the screen.

Mother.

He answered.

“Hello?”

Her voice came through immediately.

“Kael, where are you?”

“In my room.”

“Don’t leave the house.”

Kael frowned.

“Why?”

There was silence.

Then his mother spoke quietly.

“Your grandfather called.”

Kael’s expression changed.

“My grandfather?”

“He wants to see you.”

“At this hour?”

“No.”

Her voice trembled.

“He wants to see you before sunrise.”

Kael looked toward the window.

It was 3:17 a.m.

“Why?”

Another silence.

Then his mother said something that made the blood drain from his face.

“He said something has awakened.”

Kael’s hand tightened around the phone.

“What awakened?”

His mother inhaled shakily.

“He wouldn’t tell me.”

A pause.

“All he said was…”

Her voice broke.

“…that the first seal has opened.”

The call ended.

Kael remained motionless.

The room suddenly felt cold.

First seal.

The words stirred something within him.

A memory.

Not from childhood.

Not from this life.

From somewhere impossibly distant.

He saw a massive black door.

Seven locks covered its surface.

Someone stood before it.

Someone who looked exactly like him.

The figure placed a hand against the door.

And smiled.

“I’ll see you again.”

Kael’s eyes widened.

The memory vanished.

Then came another voice.

Not inside his mind this time.

From outside his bedroom.

A woman’s voice.

Soft.

Beautiful.

And completely impossible.

“Kael.”

He turned toward the window.

A woman stood outside.

On the roof.

Twenty-two floors above the ground.

She was looking directly at him.

Long dark hair.

Pale skin.

Violet eyes.

Kael couldn’t breathe.

He knew those eyes.

He had seen them beneath three moons.

He had seen them across oceans of darkness.

He had seen them on battlefields.

He had seen them beside thrones.

He had loved them.

He had hated them.

He had died for them.

And she had died for him.

The woman placed one finger against the glass.

A smile appeared on her lips.

“Finally.”

Kael stumbled backward.

“Who are you?”

Her violet eyes seemed to brighten.

“My name is Seraphina.”

Something inside Kael’s soul screamed.

Not from fear.

Recognition.

A single sentence appeared in his mind.

She has found you.

Then the bedroom window shattered

Luna was between them, barefoot in the grass, her silver hair stirring in a wind that seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere. Kael looked down. He was wearing the same clothes he had worn in his mother's kitchen. A simple shirt. Dark trousers. Human hands. He flexed his fingers. Nothing happened. No ancient fire. No wings. No dragon scales. No crown. No pressure from the heavens. He took a breath. Air filled his lungs. It smelled of wet earth. Grass. Rain. Somewhere far away, someone was cooking. Kael almost smiled. "Is this it?" he asked. Seraphina glanced at him. "No." Her answer was immediate. Kae

  • CHAPTER 75 — THE CHOICE HE MADE BEFORE BIRTH

Welcome home, Azael. The voice traveled through the white emptiness. Kael did not move. Neither did Seraphina. The child stood between them, staring at the figure seated upon the throne. The brother had gone pale. The Architect had disappeared entirely. That frightened Kael more than the throne. He looked at the seated figure. Same face. Same eyes. Same scar beneath the left eyebrow. Even the same slight tilt of the head when he was studying something he did not understand. But there was one difference. The figure looked peaceful. Too peaceful. Kael's hand slowly tightened around Seraphina's. “Who are you?” The figure smiled. “You already know.” “No.” “You have known me longer than you have known yourself.” Kael stepped forward. The figure leaned against the throne. “That's impossible.” “Is it?” A small laugh. “You have spent your entire existence believing beginnings matter.” The throne beneath him seemed to breathe. “But you never asked what existed befo
