“Darling, I’m back early!” Arjun pushed open the oak doors and stepped into the Kyler family mansion. This time, he wanted to surprise his fiancée, so he hadn’t told her in advance.

“She’s not home?” When no one answered, Arjun frowned and walked toward their bedroom.

“Hey—don’t touch there! This is the bed I’ll be sleeping in after I marry your brother. Honestly, you’re so—”

The coquettish laughter and words coming from the bedroom hit Arjun like a thunderbolt. Unable to restrain his emotions, he shoved the bedroom door open in fury.

“You… what are you doing?!”

Arjun’s whole body trembled. Inside the room, his fiancée Giulia stood there with her clothes in disarray—and the man on the bed was none other than his stepbrother, Marco.

“Ah!” Giulia let out a sharp scream. But when she realized it was Arjun, she quickly calmed down, a trace of mockery curling at her lips.

“Arjun? Why are you back so early?” Giulia tidied her messy hair and fastened the buttons of her silk nightgown.

Marco casually grabbed the shirt he had just taken off and sneered. “Well, well, if it isn’t my useless big brother whose mother just died. I was planning to tell you after you got over your grief—but who told you to insist on making a ‘surprise’?”

Arjun’s voice trembled as he suppressed his rage and stared at Giulia coldly.

“So this is what you meant when you said you were frigid and would only be intimate with me on our wedding night?”

Marco burst out laughing. “Seriously, Giulia, that’s how you fooled my stupid brother?” He looked at Arjun with open contempt. “Sorry to break it to you, but Giulia is definitely not ‘frigid’…”

“You—!” Arjun’s eyes were bloodshot as he glared at the two of them, especially the woman he had once loved so deeply. “Why did you do this?!”

Giulia looked at him as if he were an idiot, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

“Please. You don’t seriously think I got engaged to you because I liked you, do you? I just wanted to marry into a wealthy family like the Kylers. As for which Kyler I marry—does that really matter?”

She crossed her arms indifferently and looked at Arjun with disdain.

“When your mother was still alive, you were quite favored. But now that she’s dead, Marco’s mother is the lady of this house, and Marco is the rightful future heir of the Kyler family. A stray dog like you still wants to marry me? Dream on.”

Arjun’s face turned deathly pale. He couldn’t believe that the woman he had loved for years had only been with him for the title of “Kyler family young master.”

Three months ago, Arjun’s mother had passed away. Soon after, his scumbag of a father had rushed to register a marriage with another woman and brought her son, Marco, back into the house. Only then did Arjun learn that his father had been betraying his marriage for more than twenty years.

Unable to accept everything at once, Arjun chose to leave temporarily to process it all. But he never imagined that in just a few weeks, his fiancée would end up sleeping with his stepbrother.

Arjun trembled all over. Seeing this, Marco laughed loudly.

“Look at you—the young master of the Kyler family reduced to a wild dog. You really think you can stay in this house?”

His tone suddenly turned vicious.

“If it weren’t for your shameless mother, my mom and I would have moved into the Kyler mansion long ago, fair and square—and I would’ve been the young master already!”

Enraged by Marco’s words, Arjun lunged forward and raised his fist, shouting, “I’ll tell Dad—!”

“Enough! What’s all this shouting about?” A stern voice rang out. Arjun froze and turned around. It was his father, Vittorio. Standing behind him was Marco’s mother—and his new wife—Isabella.

Seeing Vittorio arrive, Marco immediately put on an innocent expression.

“It seems my brother really doesn’t like me being in this house. Is there no place here for me and my mother?”

“Nonsense!” Vittorio said sternly, yet with obvious indulgence. “You are now the most important young master of the Kyler family! Who would dare have a problem with you?”

As he spoke, Vittorio turned to Arjun, his eyes filled with disdain and coldness.

“Father!” Arjun cried out in grief and anger. “Giulia and Marco… they betrayed—”

“That’s enough!” Vittorio frowned and impatiently cut him off.

“What betrayal are you talking about? You and Giulia aren’t even married. And Giulia said from the start that she wanted to marry the Kyler family’s young master. I think Marco is more suitable than you. Stop competing with Marco over everything!”

Arjun stared at him, eyes wide, unable to believe his father could say such words.

“Exactly! Father is the fairest of all,” Marco said with a grin.

Giulia curled her lips and said indifferently, “I told him long ago—I only want to marry the Kyler family’s young master. He kept talking about love and feelings. Can that stuff put food on the table?”

Isabella added with a mocking smile, “You’re right, Vittorio. Giulia is a good girl, and Marco likes her too—this engagement is perfect. As for Arjun… lacking charm and unable to keep Giulia’s heart, yet daring to blame her. Seems his mother never taught him properly.”

Arjun burned with rage. “How dare you mention my mother!”

Overcome with emotion, he nearly raised his hand to strike Isabella.

“Stop it, you lunatic!” Vittorio hurriedly restrained Arjun, his face livid. “You actually dare to attack your stepmother? Looks like she’s right—your mother really failed to teach you!”

Arjun was almost driven to collapse by their words. Vittorio looked at him coldly and said in an icy voice,

“Look at yourself. How are you worthy of being my son?”

“I hereby announce that your engagement to Giulia is officially canceled. You’re not worthy of such a good woman.”

“And you—an ill-mannered disgrace—get out of the Kyler family right now. From today onward, you are no longer my son!”

Arjun trembled violently with rage. He was on the verge of raising his fists, ready to use the martial techniques his mother had taught him to teach these shameless people a lesson.

But Vittorio’s next words instantly drained the color from his face.

“Leave obediently, and I’ll continue paying for the maintenance of your mother’s grave. Otherwise, I’ll have her ashes dug up—and you can wander the streets carrying her urn with you.”

Ethan stared at the thugs through the bulletproof glass, his jaw tightening with each passing second. Something had changed inside him over the past few days—something fundamental. The old Ethan would have cowered in the car, waited for rescue, played it safe like he'd always done. But that Ethan was dead. He'd died in that bedroom watching Vanessa betray him. He'd been buried alongside his mother's defiled grave. The man sitting in this car now was different. Sharper. Colder. Born from rage and inheritance and a legacy he'd only just begun to understand. He was the Kidman heir. And Kidman heirs didn't hide."Young master, no—" James began.Ethan's hand was already on the door handle."Wait! Miss Rebecca specifically ordered—"The door swung open."—that you stay in the vehicle," James finished weakly, his face pale with horror.Ethan stepped out onto the empty highway, the afternoon sun warm on his face. The Mercedes glided through the city streets, leaving Riverside Plaza and Charlotte's mocking words far behind. Ethan stared out the window, watching the urban landscape shift from commercial districts to upscale residential areas. He needed to focus on practical matters now. A place to live. A base of operations for whatever came next."James," he said finally, breaking the silence. "Take me to the best residential area in the city. I need to find a place to stay."James glanced at him through the rearview mirror. "The Oceanview district would be your best option, young master. Luxury properties along the coast. Very exclusive.""That sounds perfect.""It will require taking the coastal highway. Approximately forty minutes from here.""That's fine."James nodded and adjusted their route. The buildings gradually became more sparse as they left the city center behind, heading toward the waterfront properties that only the wealthiest could afford.Twenty minutes later, the landscape had

Ethan shook his head, leaning back against the leather seat with a weary sigh. There was no point trying to explain anything to Charlotte. She'd already made up her mind about who he was—a calculating fraud with rented cars and hired actors. Let her believe it. It didn't matter."James, let's go," he said quietly. The driver nodded and was about to close the door when Charlotte suddenly lunged forward, slipping into the back seat beside Ethan before anyone could stop her."What are you doing?" Ethan's voice was flat with disbelief.Charlotte settled into the seat, smoothing her navy dress with hands that trembled slightly. "Taking you up on your offer to leave.""I didn't offer—""You're leaving. I'm leaving. Same direction." Charlotte's tone was defensive, sharp. "What's the problem?""The problem is you have your own car.""Which is in the garage. On the other side of the estate. Where my entire family is currently gathered, waiting to see if I actually left with you or if I'm crawl

Ethan heard the whispers trailing after him as he walked through the foyer—Gerald's mocking theories, Manu's bitter agreement, the scattered murmurs of family members who'd gathered to witness the spectacle. Their voices blended into white noise, meaningless static he'd learned to tune out years ago."Young master?" James stood by the entrance, his expression professionally neutral despite the chaos."Let's go," Ethan said simply. He'd barely taken three steps when he heard the sharp click of heels behind him. Charlotte was following, her arm still loosely linked with his, her posture defiant despite the uncertainty in her eyes."Charlotte—" Anthony's voice called from behind them."Let her go," Vincent said quietly. "She's made her choice."Ethan glanced at Charlotte, noting the flush in her cheeks, the way her jaw was set with stubborn determination. She was still playing her part, still using him as a shield against Manu and her family's expectations. He shook his head helplessly.

The dining hall remained frozen in stunned silence as James's footsteps faded toward the entrance. Every face wore the same expression—shock mixed with confusion, disbelief warring with the evidence of their own eyes.Anthony Bianco was the first to speak, his voice trembling. "Did that man just call him 'young master'?""He did," Margaret whispered, her hand pressed against her chest. "And that suit—did you see that suit? That was custom tailored. Easily ten thousand dollars.""More than that," Vincent said quietly from the doorway. "Fifteen, minimum. James works for very exclusive clientele.""But how?" Anthony's face was pale. "The boy arrived in a taxi! He admitted he was unemployed! He said he came from an ordinary family!""Maybe we misjudged—" Margaret began."Oh, please."The new voice cut through the room like a knife. Everyone turned to see Gerald Bianco—Anthony's younger brother—leaning against the far wall with his arms crossed and a smirk on his face.Gerald had always be

The assumption that she needed him, that she should be grateful for his attention. Her eyes darted around the sitting room, desperate for an escape, for anything that would shut him up and prove him wrong. Then she saw movement through the doorway—someone in the dining hall across the foyer.Ethan.He was still there, sitting quietly at the far end of the long dining table, seemingly unbothered by the chaos erupting around him. A plate of food sat before him—he must have asked the staff for something while waiting for his ride. He ate slowly, methodically, as if he had all the time in the world.Charlotte didn't think. She just moved."Actually, Manu," she said, her voice suddenly bright with false cheer, "I can't go to the opera with you because I already have plans.
