In that instant, it felt as though Arjun’s spine had been ripped from his body. He could barely remain standing, unable to believe that the once upright and dignified father he had admired could utter such words.

“That’s enough. Hurry up and throw this ill-mannered trash out,” Isabella sneered as she watched Vittorio leave without a trace of emotion. No longer bothering to pretend to be a lady, she frowned at Arjun in open disgust. “He’s occupied the Kyler heir’s position for far too long and still dares to fantasize about being a Kyler young master?”

Lost and hollow, Arjun staggered out of the Kyler family mansion. The streetlights blurred together as exhaustion and shock finally caught up with him. He barely noticed when a sleek black Rolls-Royce pulled alongside him, its tinted windows reflecting his haggard appearance.

An elderly man emerged, moving with surprising speed for someone his age. His tailored suit probably cost more than Arjun had earned in six months. But it was his eyes—sharp, intelligent, and suddenly filled with tears—that made Arjun stop.

"It's you," the old man whispered, his voice breaking. "Dear God, it's really you."

Arjun stepped back. "I think you have the wrong person."

"No, no, I don't." The man reached out, his hands trembling. "You have her eyes. Exactly her eyes. Meera's eyes."

Arjun froze. "How do you know my mother's name?"

"Because she was my daughter." The old man's voice cracked with emotion. "My little girl. My Meera. I'm Vikram Harper. I'm your grandfather."

The world seemed to tilt again, but differently this time. "That's... that's impossible. My mother never mentioned—"

"Please." Vikram gestured toward the car. "Let me explain. Let me tell you everything. You deserve to know the truth about who you are."

Something in the old man's desperate sincerity made Arjun nod. He slid into the leather interior, feeling completely out of place in his rumpled clothes.

Vikram sat across from him, studying his face with an intensity that was almost painful. "Twenty years," he said softly. "Twenty years I've been searching for her. For you."

"Why? What happened?"

"Your mother and I... we had a terrible argument when she was young. She was headstrong, passionate. She wanted to marry for love, not advantage. I was a fool—I forbade it, threatened to disown her. So she ran." Vikram's hands clenched into fists. "She disappeared completely. Changed her name, cut all ties. By the time I realized what a mistake I'd made, she was gone."

"She never told me," Arjun said quietly. "About you. About any of this."

"I hired investigators across the globe. Spent fortunes tracking down every lead. Three months ago, I finally found her." Vikram's voice broke. "Only to learn that she had died. That I'd lost her forever without ever saying I was sorry."

Arjun felt tears burning his eyes. "She died in a car accident. It was sudden."

"I know. I know everything now." Vikram leaned forward. "Arjun, you're my only remaining family. My grandson. The sole heir to everything I've built."

"The Harper family..." Arjun's mind reeled. "You're THE Vikram Harper? The richest man in—"

"Yes." There was no pride in Vikram's voice, only regret. "All this wealth, all this power, and I couldn't save my daughter. Couldn't even find her in time. So I tried to do the next best thing—I located the Kyler family. Your father's family. I thought if I helped them, I'd be helping you indirectly."

Arjun's blood ran cold. "What do you mean, helped them?"

"I've been secretly channeling investments into Kyler Industries for the past three months. Facilitating contracts, opening doors. We just finalized a major partnership agreement last week." Vikram smiled sadly. "I thought I was securing your future."

"You were securing theirs," Arjun said bitterly. "My father just threw me out tonight. Told me never to come back."

The temperature in the car seemed to drop. "He what?"

"Cancelled my engagement. Said I was an embarrassment to the family. That I was ill-bred and would only ruin their new partnership with the Harper family." Arjun laughed without humor. "If only he knew."

"Tell me everything." Vikram's voice was dangerously quiet. "Every detail."

Arjun recounted it all—his mother's death, his plummeting status, Isabella and Marco's arrival, finding Giulia in bed with his half-brother, the cold dismissal. As he spoke, Vikram's expression hardened into something terrifying.

"They threw you out like garbage," Vikram said, his voice shaking with rage. "My grandson. My Meera's son. They dared—"

"It doesn't matter now."

"It matters." Vikram's eyes blazed. "They will pay for every insult, every slight, every moment of suffering they've caused you. I will destroy them piece by piece until they beg for mercy."

"Grandfather—"

"But first," Vikram interrupted, his voice suddenly gentle again, "first, I want to visit my daughter. Will you take me to Meera's grave?"

Arjun met his grandfather's eyes and saw genuine grief there—grief that matched his own. For the first time since his mother's death, he didn't feel completely alone.

"Yes," he said quietly. "I'll take you to her."

Celeste's initial shock had given way to something far more corrosive—a deep, simmering resentment that grew more intense with each moment she spent contemplating the implications of what Derek had revealed. She stood from her chair and began pacing the dining room with agitated movements, her mind clearly churning through scenarios and comparisons and the bitter recognition that something fundamentally unfair had occurred in the universe's distribution of opportunity and success."If anyone deserved such an opportunity," Celeste said, her voice sharp with resentment, "it should have been Derek."She gestured emphatically toward her son, as if his presence alone was sufficient justification for her assertion."Derek has spent his entire life preparing himself for positions of significance," Celeste continued, her words dripping with entitlement. "He has the education. He has the family backing. He has the connections and the business acu

  • CHAPTER 105

The Morrison family dining room was a space that had once represented prosperity and status—a carefully curated environment where the family gathered to discuss business, family matters, and the inevitable dramas that accompanied the operation of a moderately successful enterprise in a competitive market. This morning, like many mornings recently, the conversation had centered on problems.Richard Morrison sat at the head of the table, his expression carrying the weight of a man struggling to maintain control over a business that was slowly slipping through his fingers. The Morrison family stocks had been steadily declining. Partnerships were becoming more difficult to secure. Investors were losing confidence in the company's future direction."We need to renegotiate with the South Asian distributors," Richard was saying, his voice carrying the exhausted tone of someone repeating himself repeatedly. "Their terms have become unreasonable, and if we accept them, our profit margins will

The silence that followed Vincent's acknowledgment of the truth stretched across several minutes, heavy and suffocating as the patriarch sat motionless in his chair, processing the weight of what he'd just been forced to recognize.Rebecca stood perfectly still, her expression carefully neutral but her eyes bright with the recognition that her intervention had fundamentally altered the trajectory of this family confrontation.Marcus remained frozen in place, his entire body rigid with the shock of what was about to unfold. Finally, after what felt like an eternity of suspended time, Vincent opened his eyes. They were clearer now, sharper, focused with the intensity of someone who'd made a decision and committed absolutely to its execution."I'm dismissing both of you," Vincent said, his voice carrying absolute authority. • CHAPTER 103

Vincent listened to Marcus's continued pleas with an expression that had fundamentally shifted from the guilt-ridden acceptance of earlier moments. The patriarch remained silent, his ancient eyes studying his nephew with a quality of scrutiny that suggested something had changed in how he was processing the appeals being made.Marcus, sensing the difference in Vincent's demeanor—the lack of immediate agreement, the absence of the emotional surrender that had characterized their previous interactions—began to feel genuine panic rising in his chest."You have to understand," Marcus continued, his voice taking on a note of desperation disguised as emotional vulnerability. "After my mother died, everything became so difficult. I had no one. No support. No guidance. And you promised her you would take care of me."His voice broke with calculated emotion."You promised," Marcus repeated, his words dripping with wounded sincerity. "And I've tried to honor that memory by being loyal to this f

"You're LYING! You're lying about everything!"He thrashed against the security personnel who'd begun to restrain him, his body convulsing with desperation and denial."Vincent, listen to me!" Marcus pleaded, his eyes wild and unfocused as he twisted to face the patriarch. "Listen to what he's doing! He's lying to you! He's turning you against me!"His voice cracked with apparent emotion."I never did any of those things!" Marcus continued, his denials tumbling over each other in frantic succession. "I would never hurt you! I would never betray you! I'm FAMILY!"But as denial proved ineffective, as the security personnel continued their inexorable movement toward removing him from the room, Marcus's strategy shifted with the desperation of a drowning man reaching for any piece of f
