The rebuilt fortress rose from the ashes like a scar on the world.

Kaelen stood at its base, his body screaming with exhaustion. Five fragments pulsed in his palm. Six fragments total now—the binding complete. The Forgotten Gods were whole again.

But the Anti-God was already awakening.

Valeris gripped her knives. "The Council's energy is everywhere. They've been feeding the Anti-God for weeks. It's stronger than before."

The first Auctioneer's face was grim. "Stronger and more focused. They learned from their mistakes. This version won't scatter. It will destroy everything in one blow."

Kaelen couldn't speak. His voice was gone forever. But he could still feel the gods inside him—the Drowned Queen, the volcano god, the forgotten names, the eternal winter, the desert whispers, and now the binding fragment that united them all.

They were ready.

He walked toward the fortress gates.

The Silencers emerged from the shadows. Dozens of them. Their silver marks blazed with fury.

Silver Mask was at their head. His mark was cracked but still burning.

"You're too late," he said. "The Anti-God is already awake. It's been waiting for you."

Kaelen's jaw tightened. He raised his hand. The fragments pulsed.

*"Kaelen."*

The Drowned Queen's voice echoed in his mind.

*"We're ready."*

*"All of us."*

*"Together."*

He released them.

The gods erupted from his chest. Light and memory and power. They crashed into the Silencers like a tidal wave.

Silver Mask screamed. His silver mark shattered. His body convulsed.

The other Silencers scattered. They weren't prepared for this. They'd never faced the full power of the Forgotten Gods.

Kaelen walked through the chaos. Through the broken gates. Into the heart of the fortress.

---

The Anti-God waited in the central chamber.

It was smaller than the original. More contained. A sphere of pure darkness that pulsed with the rhythm of endings.

And at its center, a figure hung suspended. A woman. Her eyes were closed. Her body was covered in Syllables.

Seraphine.

Kaelen's blood ran cold. She was alive. They'd been using her as the Anti-God's anchor.

*"Kaelen."*

Her voice was faint. Distant.

*"They caught me. After I left you. They used me to—"*

*"I know,"* he thought. *"I'm here. I'm going to save you."*

*"You can't. The Anti-God is too strong. It's feeding on my memories. My identity. Everything I am."*

Kaelen's hands clenched. He'd already given everything. His voice. His identity. His memories.

But he still had one thing left.

His will.

He stepped toward the Anti-God. The darkness pulsed. It reached for him, hungry.

*"Kaelen Voss."*

The Anti-God's voice was a thousand voices layered together.

*"You've come to end me. But I am the concept of endings. You can't destroy what you're made of."*

Kaelen stopped. The Anti-God was right. He couldn't destroy it. He was part of it—the Silence, the Auctioneer, the one who understood that all things end.

But he could change it.

He raised his hands. The fragments pulsed. The gods surged.

*"You're right,"* he thought. *"I can't destroy you. But I can remember you. Every ending you've ever caused. Every civilization you've ever erased. Every life you've ever taken."*

He closed his eyes. The memories flooded in. Not just his own. The gods' memories. The fragments' memories. All of it.

The Anti-God screamed.

*"No—you can't—"*

*"I can."* Kaelen's will was iron. *"I can remember everything. And when I remember it, I can change it. Not by undoing it. By learning from it. By making sure it never happens again."*

The darkness pulsed. Flickered. Faded.

Seraphine dropped to the ground. The Syllables on her body dissolved.

Kaelen caught her. She was alive. Weakened. But alive.

"You... you saved me," she whispered.

He couldn't answer. Couldn't speak. But he didn't need to.

The Anti-God was gone. Not destroyed. Transformed. The concept of endings had become something else. Something gentler.

Acceptance.

Kaelen collapsed. His body was broken. His mind was scattered.

But he'd done it.

He'd saved the world.

---

Valeris found them in the ruins of the chamber. The first Auctioneer was close behind.

"Kaelen!" She dropped to her knees beside him. "Are you okay?"

He couldn't answer. Couldn't move.

But Seraphine could.

"He saved me," she said. "He saved all of us."

The first Auctioneer's ancient eyes filled with tears. "He did more than that. He changed the nature of endings. The Anti-God isn't a weapon anymore. It's a reminder."

Valeris looked at Kaelen's broken body. "What happens to him now?"

"I don't know." The first Auctioneer's voice was heavy. "He gave everything. His voice. His identity. His memories. There might not be anything left."

Kaelen heard them. His eyes were closed, but he was still aware. Still present.

And he could still feel the fragments. The Forgotten Gods. All of them.

*"Kaelen."*

The Drowned Queen.

*"We're still here. All of us. You didn't lose us. You found us."*

He smiled. Or tried to. His body wouldn't obey.

But the gods understood.

*"Rest now,"* she said. *"You've done enough. We'll watch over you."*

Kaelen let go. His mind faded. His body relaxed.

And he slept.

The Forgotten Gods kept watch.

And the world began to heal.

  • The First Auctioneer's Confession

The desert ghosts had vanished with the fragment's acceptance, leaving behind an eerie stillness. Kaelen's body thrummed with five fragments—five pieces of a puzzle he still didn't fully understand. The winter cold still clung to his bones. The desert heat still burned his skin. Opposites warring inside him.Valeris collapsed onto the sand, her face pale with exhaustion. "We need rest. You can't keep pushing like this."Kaelen shook his head. He couldn't afford to stop. "The sanctuaries are connected. Cross one threshold, and you enter the next. The founders built them that way. A gauntlet for anyone foolish enough to challenge them."Kaelen's mind was fuzzy.
