ALMOST CAUGHT 2

“Diane, what are you doing at this side of the mansion?” he asked raising an eyebrow.

I didn’t know, how I was supposed to respond to the question, why the hell did I just wandered around the house.

I gulped, “I was just exploring around the mansion,” I responded.

“Exploring?” he asked raising a questioning eyebrow.

“Yes, I was bored in my room and I thought I should just look around the mansion,” I answered, I hope he believes what I said.

“OK, I understand, but next time, make sure you don’t come around this side of the mansion, you could go and ask the other maids to show you around the mansion, but make sure you don’t come around this side of the mansion,” he stated. The three men standing around him were just keeping quiet, non of them said a word. But now I think this is the area he is hiding the ruby at.

“Alright sir, I am very sorry,” I replied as I did a half bow.

“No problem, you can head back now,” he said.

I turned around and walked down the hall and head over to my room. I arrived in front of my room, I opened the door and went in. I ambled over to the bed and sat down.

I am glad he was not suspicious, that was a close call. I now know that he is protecting that part of the mansion, which means the ruby must definitely be at that side of the mansion.

I am glad the mini camera captured the whole moment, I am sure Shadow and Bruce would have seen everything that happened by now.

I stood up from the bed and walked over to the closet. I opened the closet and took out the flip phone. I dialed the number on it. Shadow answered the call.

“Did you guys saw what happened a few moments ago?” I asked.

“Yes, Bruce and I have seen everything, that was a close call,” he answered.

“Yeah, but now we know where the ruby might be at,” I said.

“Yes, he was acting strange, I think he might be keeping the ruby in a room in that direction,” he replied.

“So what do you want me to do now, you heard what he said, he doesn’t want me to go near that area anymore,” I stated.

“I know, what you are going to do now is that you are going to try and make friends with some of the maids that work at the mansion. Once you are friendly with them, you can ask any of them a couple of things about the mansion and you also need to explore the mansion, we have to get a clear view of more areas of the house,” he explained.

“OK, that sounds like a plan, I will have to make friends with one of the maids,” I said.

“Yeah, alright, I have to go now. Just keep the camera with you any time you are going out, we could find out something interesting from it,” he replied.

“OK,” I muttered. He then ended the call.

I kept the flip phone back into the closet after that, I ambled over to the bed and sat down at the edge of the bed.

I am going to have to go over to where all the maids normally gather, once I am amongst them, then I can try to get close to at least one of them. But for now, I have to rest for a bit. I fell down flat on the bed.

The following evening,

I was sitting down on my bed in the middle of the room. I was eager to go out of my room and try mingling with the other maids, but after what happened earlier with Mr. Rashaad, I can’t just wander around the mansion again, I barely know my way around the house.

I placed my chin on my hands. I wish I could just get some sort of signal to leave this room and go outside, besides I am starting to feel hungry.

A loud beeping sound started coming from the wall close to the front door. I then stood up from the bed quickly, as I was about to approach the front door.

“Attention dinner is ready, everyone should make their way to the dining room,” A manly voice came from the area the beeping sound was coming from earlier.

I arrived at the front door, I looked at the wall to spot the machine the voice came from. A black square box was mounted at the upper side of the wall, it looked like an alarm system. I guess this is how they communicate with everyone in the house, but Mr. Benson never told me about this system.

I guess I should head out and join them in the dining room. I adjusted the mini camera on my collar and then went out of the room.

After a few minutes of finding my way to the dining room, I finally arrived inside the dining room. There were multiple people sitting around the dining table in the middle of the room, Mr. Benson was sitting down at the single chair at the end of the long dining table. A few women were wearing the same uniform as me, while a couple of men were wearing matching uniforms that were like the ones the maids are wearing. 

“Diane, come and have a seat!” Mr. Benson called out as he stared at me.

I ambled over to an empty seat that was next to a lady and sat down. I looked around the table and noticed that there were a few empty seats.

After that I gazed at the bowl of foods on the table, there were multiple varieties of food on the table, it was like we were having a feast of something. I couldn’t help but notice that everyone at the table were maids expect for Mr. Benson.

“I am going to assume that everyone is here,” Mr. Benson said in a rumbling tone, he had his hands clasped on the table in front of him.

“Tell me, is everyone here?” Mr. Benson asked as he shifted his gaze over to a man that was sitting at his right hand side.

“Yes sir, everyone is here,” The man answered boldly.
