I leaned on the wall, my hands placed on my torso where the injury as the pain course through my body. See what curiosity has landed me in.

"Are you ok, Kae?C asked Katseye, worry washed across her face.

'Do I look OK?' Is what I would have asked her, but instead, I slow head shake is what came instead.

She helped me to the nearest seat which confused Vira.

" What happened to you?" she asked as she studied me.

"What wouldn't?" I forced a smile to cover my pain and slight embarrassment.

"You'll be fine. Let me go get the item."

As Katseye reached her bag a thought ran through my head.

"What about your father?" I asked Katseye. The question had been gnawing at me since Jace arrived without him.

She shook her head. " Haven't heard anything yet."

"What do your think they'll do to him?"

"He's a prominent figure. A high-lord. They won't do anything to him because they can't afford to, not publicly anyway. Our priority right now is getting you out of here."
