Julian Miller, the devoted adopted son who saved Miller Group from bankruptcy, is publicly discarded and humiliated when Arthur Miller introduces his 'long-lost' biological son, Christian. Left with nothing but the clothes on his back, Julian’s life shifts irrevocably when he is revealed to be the secret, legitimate heir to the world’s most powerful conglomerate, the Vance Group. Armed with limitless resources and a cold, calculating mind, Julian returns to systematically dismantle the lives of those who betrayed him. As the facade of the Miller family crumbles, a darker truth emerges: Julian was not merely adopted; he was a pawn stolen in a calculated child-swapping scheme three decades ago. With every financial hit, exposed lie, and public downfall, Julian orchestrates the destruction of the Miller family's legacy. However, his enemies are cornered and increasingly desperate, forming dangerous, shadowy alliances that threaten to draw the conflict into a much larger, global-scale corporate war. As the power balance in San Francisco tilts toward total annihilation of the old elite, Julian must navigate a treacherous path where personal redemption and cold revenge collide. Unbeknownst to him, his true heritage holds burdens he hasn't yet conceived, and the forces aligned against him are already preparing to rewrite the history he has spent so much time uncovering.

Chapter 1

Bab 1 - The Discarded Son

Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling of the Grand Ballroom at the Palace Hotel, shining with arrogant brilliance and reflecting the luxury that was supposed to mark the pinnacle of Julian's success. For five years, Julian Miller had been the unseen architect behind every victory of the Miller Group. He was the one who had kept the company from collapsing during last year's real estate crisis, and he was the one who had quietly sealed the cracks left by Arthur's corrupt subordinates.

Tonight marked the company's thirtieth anniversary. While the city's elite mingled beneath the glittering lights, sipping champagne and exchanging polished smiles, Julian stood alone in the corner of the ballroom, watching every detail with careful eyes. To him, this was more than a celebration. It was validation for years of exhausting dedication.

Yet amid his quiet vigilance, something felt wrong.

The grand doors swung open, and the lively conversations throughout the ballroom faded into hushed whispers.

Arthur Miller entered the hall with an expression unlike his usual one. Beneath his composed face, there was barely concealed triumph. Beside him walked a sharp-featured young man whose arrogant swagger announced his confidence before he spoke a word.

Christian Miller.

Arthur stepped onto the stage and tapped the microphone with deliberate confidence.

"Good evening, everyone. Tonight isn't just about celebrating the numbers on our financial statements. Tonight is about restoring what has always belonged to the Miller family."

Julian's heartbeat remained steady.

He stood with his back straight, waiting for the words of praise from the father he had always believed truly appreciated everything he had done.

"For the past five years," Arthur continued, lowering his voice, "we've allowed someone to occupy a seat on the board and pretend to lead this company. But he was never more than a guest. A man whose foolish decisions on the Oakland Harbor project nearly cost us every asset we own."

Julian narrowed his eyes.

The Oakland Harbor project?

Hadn't that been Arthur's idea from the very beginning, one Julian had been forced to carry out to cover the hole left by Arthur's personal finances?

Julian looked at Arthur, but the older man refused to meet his gaze.

"And now," Arthur said as he rested a hand on Christian's shoulder, "I feel blessed that God has finally returned my long-lost flesh and blood to me. Christian Miller, my rightful son, has come home to restore the honor of the Miller Group."

Thunderous applause filled the ballroom.

Julian stood perfectly still.

His eyes locked onto Christian, who answered with a smug smile, the satisfied grin of a predator watching its prey trapped with nowhere to run.

"Julian," Arthur called from the stage.

Every guest turned to look at him.

"You've carried the Miller name long enough out of our charity. But starting tonight, because of the disgrace you've brought upon this company with your failure on the Oakland Harbor project, you are no longer a member of this family."

Sharp whispers rippled through the room.

"Loser."

"An adopted son who forgot his place."

"Nothing but a freeloader."

The insults echoed in Julian's ears like thunder across a dry summer sky.

He didn't move.

He didn't shout.

He didn't beg.

The calm on Julian's face unsettled the crowd far more than any outburst could have. They had expected tears or explosive anger. Instead, they found only a gaze as cold as ice.

Julian stepped toward the stage.

Each footstep rang clearly across the velvet carpet, creating a measured rhythm that silenced the remaining murmurs throughout the ballroom.

"I understand, Arthur," Julian said calmly.

His voice was clear, carrying effortlessly through the vast hall without the need to raise it.

Arthur seemed momentarily caught off guard by his composure.

"Leave. You don't even have the right to stand on this floor for another minute."

Julian unfastened the Rolex Oyster Perpetual from his left wrist with precise, unhurried movements. He placed it on the banquet table with a soft click.

Then he set down the keys to the luxury sports car the company had given him.

Finally, he slipped off his expensive suit jacket, leaving only a white cotton dress shirt with the sleeves loosely rolled up.

"All of this belongs to the Miller Group," Julian said, staring directly into Arthur's eyes. "It never belonged to me. I was only its caretaker. Now it's up to you to decide who will lead this company into the abyss."

"Watch your mouth, you bastard!" Christian snapped as he stepped forward, eager to assert his dominance.

Julian looked at him for a moment.

There was no hatred in his eyes.

Only pity.

It was the kind of look that made men like Christian feel painfully small.

Julian turned away.

He walked through the crowd as the guests instinctively parted before him like a divided sea.

The insults continued to follow him.

"Ungrateful bastard!"

"Look at him, leaving with nothing!"

Julian paid them no attention.

To him, this was freedom.

In the hotel lobby, the doorman looked down on him as he walked past.

The moment Julian stepped onto the front stairs, San Francisco greeted him with a relentless downpour.

The sky was pitch-black, as though the earth itself were furious.

He didn't quicken his pace.

He simply walked, calm and unhurried, along the sidewalk as rainwater pooled around his feet.

Through the lobby's glass walls, Arthur and Christian had already returned to their celebration, reveling in what they believed was their victory.

But Julian noticed something they did not.

Many of the guests no longer seemed comfortable laughing.

Most of them had realized that the man who had just been thrown out was the very engine that had kept the company alive.

Julian stopped at the edge of the street and tilted his face toward the rain.

The cold water washed over his skin, carrying away every trace of the past five years.

"You think you've thrown out the trash," he murmured, his voice swallowed by the pounding rain. "When in reality, you've just thrown away the last foundation holding up the building that's about to collapse on top of you."

He had no plan.

No car waiting to pick him up.

No umbrella.

Yet a faint smile curved across his lips.

It wasn't born of anger.

It came from newfound clarity.

In the distance, the streetlights flickered as if heralding the beginning of a different story.

Julian stepped into the darkness, leaving the false splendor behind him, unaware that beyond the dim corner ahead, a new chapter of his life, and the beginning of the end for the Miller family, was already waiting.

The real storm had only just begun.

And this time, Julian stood beneath no one's shelter.
