His body felt weak now. He even forgot the last time he'd enjoyed a meal. He just walked aimlessly until his steps carried him away from there.

Gideon walked listlessly. He had just bought some hard bread and sat down on the side of the road. He was about to enjoy some food to fill his stomach. But just as he remembered the bread, his gaze accidentally fell on the old man walking in front of him. Meanwhile, another car was speeding from the opposite direction.

The old man barely noticed the loud honking of the horn. This made Gideon panic. He knew this was going to be bad.

Samuel threw the bread from his hand and immediately ran to save him.

Gideon pulled the old man's body until they rolled across the road.

The old man was shocked. But he soon realized that the car had almost grazed him.

Gideon immediately stood up and looked at the man anxiously. "Are you okay, sir?"

Gideon deftly helped the old man to his feet. He felt his hands trembling.

The man's breath was labored, but he quickly looked up and met Gideon's gaze. Then, he nodded. "Yes, I'm fine. Thank you for saving me."

Gideon could see that the man was very pale. It worried him deeply. Letting the old man go alone wasn't a good idea. "I'll take you home."

The old man didn't refuse. He was aware of his frail body. He wouldn't even be able to make it back to his house.

Suddenly, Gideon crouched down and patted his shoulder. "Get on. I'll take you home."

The old man looked at him hesitantly. But his frail body prevented him from refusing.

Gideon carried the old man and walked through a small alley for a few minutes. Undeniably, his body felt weak. He hadn't even had a chance to enjoy his hard bread in peace, and now he had to carry the old man home.

Gideon's breath hitched. "Is it still far?"

The man shook his head. He pointed to a house. "Not far. That's my house."

He pointed to an old building not too far away. Without another word, Gideon immediately headed toward the old house.

He walked faster, and it didn't take long for him to arrive. It was a small house with faded paint. The tall grass in front of the house indicated that it wasn't well-maintained.

"Do you live here alone?" Gideon asked after lowering the man from his arms.

It was almost unbelievable that an old man lived in such a run-down place.

Even as they entered, thick dust seemed to greet them. The loud creaking of the door shattered the silence a little. And as he stepped inside, Gideon realized that the inside was even bleaker than he had imagined.

Occasionally, Gideon glanced at the old man. Perhaps his advanced age made it difficult for him to maintain the house.

"Sit down. I'm glad someone finally came to my house." The man smiled. "I'm very grateful for your help."

Gideon simply nodded and smiled slightly.

But just then, he saw a man in a black suit come out of the room.

Gideon had previously thought he was alone in the house, but seeing the man with a stern gaze staring at him made him wary.

The man wasn't alone; two men with intimidating bodies stood there, staring at Gideon.

Their eyes moved up and down, scanning Gideon's body thoughtfully. Until one of them spoke, "Are you Mr. Gideon?"

Gideon frowned. For the first time, someone had addressed him as "sir" with such respect. But realizing this was their first meeting, how did the two men know his name? He hadn't even told the old man his identity.

Worry made his heart pound. He glanced at the old man, almost wondering if they might have set him up on purpose.

Gideon had just realized that this house was quite secluded compared to the others. Perhaps no one would even know it was still occupied.

Anxiety kept Gideon from thinking clearly.

But the old man noticed Gideon's panic. He placed a hand on Gideon's shoulder and said, "You don't need to worry."

Gideon just stared at him with a stiff face. He didn't understand.

Until the old man spoke again, "We're from RR1."

"RR1?" Gideon repeated the old man's words with a frown.

The man nodded. "Yes, it's an organization based on something that doesn't make sense. But it's real."

Gideon was increasingly confused. He just listened in confusion.

The old man extended his hand to Gideon. "I'm Paul Webster." He smiled as he said it.

Paul looked at Gideon very seriously. He knew the man couldn't easily understand all this.

"You are the one who meets the criteria and matches what we're looking for. And you will be the heir to everything. You fit the bill perfectly."

Gideon was increasingly filled with confusion. He didn't understand anything. This seemed like a fairy tale. He couldn't take his eyes off Paul. "What does this all mean?"

Paul sighed. His eyes showed seriousness. "Yes, you will be the heir to the Webster family. And you will also be the heir to something unexpected."

Gideon stepped back. He stared at the three men in turn. He almost thought they were crazy. He thought it was impossible. He didn't even know them, and how could they say they wanted to make Gideon his heir?

Paul understood Gideon's hesitation. He knew this wouldn't be easy to accept. But he quickly spoke, "Do you remember what happened to you yesterday?"

The question made Gideon frown. What happened yesterday? Of course he wouldn't forget it. But he wondered if it was all just a nightmare. A dream that left him barely breathing as a large slab of concrete fell on him and he nearly died.

Gideon stared at them intently. This time, he wondered if Paul knew about his nightmare.

Before Gideon could say anything, Paul spoke. “You’re experiencing this now because of the concrete that fell on you.” Paul paused. “At that time, we came and gave you an injection based on research we’ve been doing for several years.”

This was a complete shock to Gideon. He hadn’t told them anything about his dream. So how did Paul know the details?

Then he remembered the silhouettes of two people standing beside him in pain. Were they them?

“Wasn’t that a nightmare? Was it real?” he wondered, confused.

“We injected you with a drug that caused you to have this reaction. The injection even made all the wounds on your body disappear along with the pain. And that’s why we decided you would be our heir and join our community,” Paul explained. He patted Gideon on the shoulder. “You meet all the criteria for an heir.”

“So all of this really happened? I almost died?” Gideon looked at him questioningly.

Paul nodded. “Yes, it’s real.”

Paul smiled at him. “You’ll experience a different reaction in your body. You’ll even become stronger, or even invincible.”

Gideon fell silent. Once again, he still doubted it. In the modern world, does such a thing still happen?

Aware of his doubt, Paul took out a black card and handed it to Gideon. “This is for you.”

Gideon frowned. “What is this?”

“This card will be yours,” Paul assured him. He placed the card in Gideon’s palm.

He knew about the black card. Only the wealthy could possess one. And after learning that fact, he realized that Paul was no ordinary man.

Gideon could barely say anything at this point. He stared at Paul with a blank stare. But suddenly, two men in black handed several stacks of documents into his lap.

Gideon looked up, looking at them in turn. “What is this?”

“This is a list of the companies that will be yours. This is only a small part of what you know. You will know everything once you accept it,” Paulus explained.

Gideon was filled with confusion. This seemed impossible to him. But his eyes were busy scanning the documents in his lap.

“Don’t you need money to survive? This way, you won’t have to look for work?” Paulus gave him his signature smile. He sighed and crossed his legs. “And I need an heir.”

Gideon was shocked. He didn’t know how they could know everything about him. Inside, he wondered if they might have been spying on him.

Paul placed a hand on Gideon’s shoulder. “Isn’t this the best solution? Just accept what I’m offering. You’ll be the heir. And you won’t have to worry about earning money to live on,” he emphasized.

It was impossible for parents like that to raise their son to such a great person; it sounded like a ridiculous and implausible fairy tale."No." He shook his head and smiled, trying to calm himself, taking Justin's words as a joke.Unlike Gideon, Justin was an important person he needed to deal with properly. She knew Justin as well as she did Gideon's background. Justin was a senior executive at White.Inc
