For a moment, Arthur held his breath, wondering if Karen had recognized him. The intensity of her gaze made it impossible to tell.

Then, before he could react, Karen strode forward with her black stiletto heels clicking against the polished marble floor.

To everyone's absolute shock, she wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a tight embrace.

The corridor fell into a stunned silence.

Arthur froze as she embraced him.

Not far away, Karen's other assistants, employees and security stood frozen as they all stared in stunned silence.

"Had Miss Darwin mistaken that cleaner for someone else?"

They stared in disbelief, wondering how Karen Darwin—the formidable CEO of Darwins Group and one of the most powerful businesswomen in the entire Hendille Region—could be seen hugging a mere cleaner.

It was unthinkable!

But Karen wasn’t letting go.

After what felt like an eternity, Karen finally released Arthur, taking a step back and studying him intently.

Karen froze for a moment upon hearing Chris's confident claims. She hadn't expected such accusations against Arthur, and though she was surprised, she quickly masked it with composure. However, Chris had already noticed that brief hesitation, and it emboldened him. A smug grin formed on his lips as he took a step closer to Arthur. “See? Even Miss Darwin is realizing what kind of scum you are,” he sneered before grabbing Arthur roughly by the collar. "A thief! A criminal!" Chris barked, his voice sharp with disgust. "It’s obvious you're here to steal or stir up more trouble, you bloody bastard! Miss Darwin, call the authorities immediately and have him dragged out before he does more damage. This man is a walking threat!" Murmurs rippled through the surrounding crowd, and the security team stood ready to act. Chris tightened his grip on Arthur’s collar. But before things could escalate further, a sudden force shoved Chris backward. It was Karen! The group fe

Karen’s other assistants murmured among themselves, exchanging uncertain glances. But Sarah stepped forward, her voice sharp and unwavering. “I agree with Mr Williams,” she declared. “This man should be checked to clear all doubts. If he’s truly innocent, then there’s nothing to worry about.” The others nodded in agreement but Karen hesitated. She didn’t believe Chris’s words, but the pressure from those around her was overwhelming. If she refused, it might seem like she was taking Arthur’s side for no reason. Sighing, she raised a hand for silence. “Fine,” she said. “But not only Arthur will be checked. Everyone who has been around me—everyone of my assistants—will be searched as well.” Without wasting time, Karen called over security and instructed them to conduct the search. The guards started with Sarah, patting her down thoroughly. As expected, nothing was found on her. Within a few minutes, Arthur was searched and there was nothing discovered in his f

Arthur laughed bitterly. “Grateful?” He turned to Karen. “Is this really what you think of me?” Karen’s expression was torn, but she said nothing. Arthur clenched his fists. He had saved Karen’s life once, but now, she was letting him go over a setup. “Fine,” he said, his voice quiet. “Believe what you want.” Then, without another word, he turned and walked away. Karen hesitated, feeling a weight pressing against her chest. She didn’t want to let go of Arthur so easily—after all, he had been her lifesaver—but after what had just happened, she wasn’t sure she could still feel safe with him. She wanted to leave, to clear her mind and focus on more pressing matters, but before she could step away, Sarah swiftly placed a folder in her hands. “Please, Miss Darwin, before you go, just take a look at this,” Sarah urged insistently. Karen sighed and opened the folder. Inside were neatly organized documents detailing Williams Empire’s achievements—successful projects compl

Almost immediately, he was stopped by two stern-faced security guards. Their expressions were unreadable, but their body language was clear—they weren't ready to allow him in. “What do you want here?” one of them demanded. Arthur held up the small pouch. “I have something important to deliver to Miss Karen Darwin. She left this at the conference.” The guards exchanged a quick glance. “Hand it over. We’ll make sure she gets it.” Arthur hesitated. This wasn’t just some ordinary package—it contained highly confidential documents belonging to the Darwins Group, along with Karen’s personal items. There was no way he was handing it over to anyone except Karen herself. “With all due respect,” he said firmly, “I need to give this to her directly. It’s urgent.” The second guard scoffed. “Look, young man, you’re not stepping into this estate. If it’s that urgent, give it to us and leave.” Just as Arthur was about to argue further, movement from inside the mansion caught his atte

As he reached the top of the stairs, he spotted Karen slipping into a room. Without thinking, he followed her. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of medicinal herbs and sterile antiseptics. A heavy silence hung over the space, broken only by the faint beeping of a heart monitor and the weak, labored breathing of Nathaniel Darwin—lying on an extravagant king-sized bed, pale and frail. Karen wiped her tear-streaked face as she approached her father’s bedside, but just as she settled beside him, she suddenly noticed movement at the door. Her head snapped toward it and she noticed Arthur. Her eyes widened in shock and confusion. "Arthur?" she blurted, unsure of what he was doing in her father’s room.
