Everyone turned to stare. They were petrified, whispers began to rise in the crowd. Maxwell’s lips twitched as he stared at Holloway at his feet, with a raised brow.

Master Holloway has never kneeled before anyone…

“What is this?” Some asked their counterparts.

“Has Master Holloway gone drunk? Why is he kneeling before a servant?”

Nathan walked towards them and tried to get Holloway to stand, thinking he was drunk. “Master Holloway, what are you doing?”

Holloway shrugged out of his hold and barked at him. “Don’t touch me!” He glanced back at Maxwell. “I was blind sir. I’ve been a fool. Please do not be angry at me!”

George Zade rose from his chair, staring at Holloway with shock. “Master Holloway, why are you kneeling in front of him? Are you drunk?! That’s a waiter. Stand up.”

Holloway’s face darkened with horror and he glared at George making him shut up. “You are the drunk one! I’m more ashamed of you that you couldn’t even see the treasure under your nose. You should be kneeling here with me begging this man.”

“Treasure?” Nathan’s face was filled with confusion. “Master, I think you need to sit down and rest. You were the one who said it was fake and now you are calling it a treasure?”

“SILENCE!” Master Holloway roared, making the hall go quiet and still. “You and your $15 million forgery are the only tricks in the room. This man has brought a relic that can rally the Vallis family ten times over!”

Maxwell looked down at the kneeling figure before him. His eyes were as cold as ice, he didn’t even offer a hand.

“You said it was junk. Why pick it up now?”

Holloway swallowed, his eyes not able to meet Maxwell’s gaze. “I was mistaken…”

“And you still are, Master Holloway and even if truly these beads are real, then Maxwell must have stolen it!” Fred announced, glaring at his brother. “There’s no way he could have afforded it, not even with his father in law’s help.”

Theodore’s face went red with embarrassment as he listened to his brother’s words.

Holloway shot a glance at Fred. “I tell no lies. I didn’t look at it carefully the first time which is why I made a mistake but now, I have seen it clearly and something so valuable like this can’t be stolen. Do you not speak of what you know nothing about.”

Fred was taken aback by Holloway’s statement and sucked in his lower lip when he got a reprimand stare from George.

Maxwell’s jaw tightened seeing the amount of stares he was getting. “Holloway, get up.”

“I won’t!” Holloway cried, desperation evident in his voice. He held the beads tightly in his palm. “I had mocked a great man and if I don’t ask for your forgiveness, I will never be able to show my face to the public again.”

The guests were confused. What was going on?

“Master Holloway, with all due respect, but I think it’s time for your retirement.” This time it was Fred’s son, Xander who spoke. “You can’t possibly think that anything good can come out of a man who was probably expelled from the army. Don’t let his tricks fool you.”

“He’s right,” Ashley responded. “Think about it. If these beads were actually real, they would be in a museum, not in the pocket of a man who can’t afford a good suit!”

Arabella pursed her lips for a while before responding. She wondered if he knew about what happened with Victoria. But that wasn’t important now. “I’m… leaving the gala,” She replied, already pulling out of the parking lot. “Mum texted me that Mike has been arrested.” A pause came from the other end. “Don’t go there.” Her grip tightened on the steering wheel as her brows furrowed. “What?” “Don’t go there,” he repeated. “Go home.” Arabella frowned. “Maxwell, my brother is in trouble. You don’t expect me to just go home and do absolutely nothing?” “Arabella, just trust me. Do not argue, go home and leave it to me to handle.” Arabella shook her head as she drove, overtaking a car. “No. Not anymore. You have been fixing my family’s mess all on your own without telling me, I can’t put this on you as well!” A deep

Arabella raised a brow, staring at Victoria. “What did you do?” “Security!” Victoria smirked, raising her hand and snapping her fingers in the air. “I believe Mrs. Zade here—who can’t use her husband’s name for reasons best known to her—is using unorthodox methods to—” “That’s enough, Victoria!” A voice sounded within the crowd. Sienna and Mike exchanged peculiar glances throughout the whole breakfast which didn’t go unnoticed by Maxwell. … Theodore sat quietly at the back seat of the taxi, the envelope on his lap. He had read the letter more times than he could count, yet it still didn’t feel real. Forest Hills. A place people talked about with respect. A company which controlled industries. The owner wasn’t well known—yet. Elena Hatfield was in charge of the company, although Arabella had swore that she had nothing to do with the letter, he had second thoughts and right now, he was nervous. His fingers tightened around the envelope. “This must be a mistake,” he muttered underneath his breath. The taxi slowed down and came to complete stop. “We’re here, sir,” the driver said.
