Xiao Chen rejoined his golden spear into a single shaft. He spun the precious weapon so fast that it produced a high, ear-splitting whine—an almost metallic hum that cut through the charged air.

But that roaring vibration did nothing to slow the dozens of demons closing in to encircle him. If anything they pressed forward more eagerly, surging like a tide and launching attacks in tight, coordinated waves.
