The theater had become deathly quiet except for Matt Donovan's labored breathing and Nancy Winter's muffled sobs. Gordon's lifeless body lay sprawled on the floor like a grotesque warning, his neck twisted at an unnatural angle that made even Phillip Fisher look away in horror.

Jack calmly retrieved Matt's phone from where it had fallen during the struggle and reactivated the video call. Martin Donovan's face filled the screen, his weathered features contorted with a mixture of rage and barely controlled panic.
