Chapter 3

When a man shouted behind them. Alejandro was released immediately by the security. He immediately sprang up and faced the guy who had told them to free him. Mr. Chan's presence with Helena shocked him. Mr. Chan even sweetly wrapped his arms around Helena, while looking at each other lovingly.

"Helena! Is this the man you have chosen to replace me!?"Alejandro shouted in anger.

"What are you saying!? Don't act like you don't about this Alejandro. Did I think we already talked about this? Can you please stop!?"

"No! What the fuck are you talking about! You are my girlfriend and you are cheating on me!" Alejandro answered back and he was teary-eyed.

Alejandro noticed Mr. Chan still had his phone. He was filming and appearing in the Tok Tok live program. But he doesn't care.

"I didn't cheat on you! Will you stop? We are already over!"

Alejandro was shocked to hear that. He clenched his hands. He stepped forward but was taken aback when he noticed Helena wearing an expensive outfit. He remembered buying the garment with the rest of his two-month income. He bought it for her as a gift because she wanted it so much.

"I bought that dress for you and you're just gonna use it just to date that bastard!? You're unbelievable Helena!" Alejandro said while pointing at the dress.

"Who the hell are you? And don't dare call me a bastard! You don't know me!" Mr. Chan interrupted him.

Alejandro paid no attention to Mr. Chan and instead fixed his furious gaze on Helena.

"How could you possibly treat me like this, Helena!?" Alejandro confronted Helena.

"What!? Don't act like you're a victim here Alejandro! Can't you understand what I am saying? We are already finished!" Helena answered.

She then grabbed Diego to get back inside the building but Alejandro was fast to stop them by grabbing Helena through her left arm.

"No! You can't do this to me, Helena! How could you lie to me and Mr. Chan about our relationship? Stop acting like you don't know anything about what I am talking about! After everything that I've put you through, do you still have the guts to cheat on me? After all the love and effort I've given for you!? Tell me, are you only doing this because you want to make money?"

Those words came out of Alejandro's mouth without him being able to stop himself from venting his frustration. Helena suddenly slapped him hard.

"Stop accusing me, Alejandro! Stop pretending that you don't know what I am talking about! I am so done with you! You filthy bastard!" Helena yelled at Alejandro.

"Helena, do you know this guy? If you don't, I can kick him out right away! I won't allow him to treat you like this," Mr. Chan interrupted again.

"Diego, he's the one I've been telling you over the phone last night. I already broke up with him and he's threatening me not to leave him. He's been stalking me and he always took advantage of my kindness. He wasn't even content with using me to join your company and now he's abusing my every right to be happy," Helena acted in a dramatic statement while crying fake tears.

Alejandro's jaw dropped from what he just heard.

"You are lying, Helena! That's not true!"

"It's the truth, Alejandro! Stop making it hard for both of us! We're already done!"Helena said without batting her eyelashes. Those words stabbed Alejandro many times and it hurt him big time.

"You're unbelievable Helena! I didn't do bad things to you!"

"Alejandro, stop spreading false information! Enough with this already!" Helena responded and then began crying so convincingly in front of Diego.

After that, Diego turned the screen of his phone toward him, and he can now see his face, which is still filled with shock and disgust. Even Alejandro was able to see the comments that kept popping up, and the people writing them were giving him a lot of negative feedback. Someone even commented to threaten him, which was very disturbing. The vast majority of them did not believe his accusations at any point. Some people even suggested that he was acting dramatically to manipulate Helena.

"Helena, you are telling a blatant lie here! What in the name of god did you say to them about I've been very kind to you, haven't I? I had the impression that you loved me!"

"Let me correct it, Alejandro! Absolutely, I adore you, but that was in the past. After all that you've done to hurt me, I can't forgive you! It's finished! I don't love you anymore! Can you just let me go and give me the chance to be with the one who loves me for who I am?" Helena remarked as she supported her weight against Diego's chest.

Alejandro stared angrily and with an overwhelming feeling of disgust at the two of them. After that, Diego turned his attention to Helena.

"Don't worry, sweetie, I won't ever give in to his demands and let him act however he pleases. You will never have to worry about anyone else hurting you again. I promise you."

After saying that, Diego planted a passionate kiss on Helena's lips. Alejandro could no longer bear to see them in such a state, and he was unable to contain his emotions any longer. He punched Diego in his face and he immediately dropped to the floor. Helena then let out a startled scream, the security guards jumped on Alejandro and pinned him to the ground before he could punch Diego again. Even though he made an effort to move, he was unable to do so because he was already captive by the guards.

Alejandro was immediately dragged outside El Paraiso and the guard threw him in the bushes.

"I will never, ever forgive you, Helena, for what you did to me! I will never forget this Helena! Never!" Alejandro said, giving Helena a revengeful look in his eyes. He will never forget this thing! Never!

Chapter 24The first time Alejandro saw the new prisoner up close, it was in the yard. His name is Vargas, and he didn’t look like a man trying to keep his head down. He stood with a group of guards, laughing like he owned the place. His presence was loud, magnetic even, pulling the curious and the dangerous alike into his orbit. Tattoos coiled up his neck, faded and old gang markings mixed with military symbols Alejandro recognized from a past life.Rocco muttered from his side. “That’s not the walk of a man who’s done time. That’s the walk of a hunter.”Alejandro didn’t answer. He watched as Vargas lit a cigarette offered by a guard, too friendly, too familiar and scanned the yard with the eyes of a predator. Those eyes locked onto Alejandro like crosshairs. Then Vargas smiled. It wasn’t the grin of an ally. It was a promise.THAT night, Alejandro stayed awake. Every creak of the cell block felt louder. The scrape of boots against concrete. The low hum of whispers. He’d survived one

Chapter 23The days inside the prison grew darker, not because the lights dimmed, but because the eyes around Alejandro sharpened. Trust was a rare currency in jail, and Alejandro had run out of it the moment news about his betrayal to Diego reached the wrong ears.Alejandro had always been a man of instinct. He knew how to read people—the twitch of an eye, the sudden silence of a room, the way someone gripped their utensils during lunch. Lately, he noticed the change. The shift. People didn’t just avoid him now. They studied him.Conversations stopped when he entered the mess hall. Inmates who once nodded in greeting now turned their backs. It wasn’t fear he saw in their eyes. It was a calculation. Like they were measuring him. Weighing him. Waiting. He sat at lunch beside Rocco, the only person who still gave him the time of day. Rocco had been inside for years. He knew how the system worked. How things moved under the surface.“You feel it too?” Alejandro asked without looking at h

Chapter 22 The prison yard was sweltering under the afternoon sun, but Alejandro didn’t feel the heat. His mind was racing. Every breath, every step, was calculated now. He wasn’t just surviving, he was plotting. Three days had passed since the letter was smuggled out. Three days of waiting for a sign, any sign, that Mateo’s sister had received the message. That the ledgers, the proof, were real and intact. Rocco joined him by the fence, casually handing him a packet of stale crackers as cover. “She got it,” he muttered under his breath. “The package is safe.” Alejandro’s fingers tightened around the plastic. “And she’s willing to talk?” “Scared, but yes. She wants immunity before handing over anything.” Alejandro nodded. “We can work with that. All we need is someone on the outside with a spine.” “Easier said than done,” Rocco said grimly. “Diego’s reach is long. Even the damn guards here act like they owe him favors.” “I don’t need a whole army,” Alejandro said, his

Chapter 21 DAYS passed, maybe weeks. The concrete walls didn’t bother counting. Alejandro had stopped marking time. The calendar on the wall remained untouched. Meals came and went. Guards rotated. The lights never really turned off. But he was no longer sitting still. He had begun to listen. The inmates around him weren’t saints, they were thieves, smugglers, con artists, but they talked. And when Alejandro listened, he started to hear patterns. Names. Events. Whispers about politicians, bribes, and shady deals—including some too familiar to ignore. “Diego Chan?” one inmate said one evening while playing cards. “That guy’s everywhere. His company’s got half the justice system in their pocket.” Alejandro stiffened from where he sat nearby. “You know him?” he asked casually. The guy—lean, tattooed, mid-forties—looked over at him. “Why? You got beef with Diego?” Alejandro smirked bitterly. “Something like that.” The man, whose name was Rocco, leaned in. “You’re Alejandr

  • Chapter 20

Chapter 20 The metal clanked behind him, the cell door closing once again with that familiar, punishing finality. Alejandro sat on the edge of the cold steel bench, staring at the cracks in the concrete floor. His fingers trembled as he gripped the edge of his seat, blood pounding in his ears. The walls around him felt smaller by the hour. His thoughts spiraled, desperate for a lifeline. He had one hope left. “Please,” he said to the officer. “Just one phone call.” The officer stared at him for a beat too long, then handed him the receiver. Alejandro’s hands were shaking as he dialed. One number after another, lawyers he had worked with, friends in legal circles, even old clients. Straight to voicemail. Another number. Then another. Some didn’t answer. Others hung up the second they heard his voice. The last one, a respected attorney he’d known since his first year in the industry, didn’t even let him speak. “Don’t ever call me again, Alejandro,” the man said coldly.

  • Chapter 19

Chapter 19 INSIDE the car, silence settled between him and Jero. Jero’s voice was low but urgent. “We need to find out how they did this. Who planted the fake files? Helena’s always been ruthless, but this... this is something else.” “Could it be Lorenzo!? Or Marina!?” Jero added. “I think it's Marina. Lorenzo will not betray us.” “Fuck that bitch!” Jero cursed. Alejandro closed his eyes. He felt hollowed out, betrayed not just by Helena and Diego, but by the system that had swallowed him whole without a second thought. How did he not see this coming? AT THE station, Alejandro was booked, fingerprinted, and thrown into a holding cell. The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, harsh and unforgiving. He sat on the hard bench, the cold metal of the handcuffs biting into his wrists. Time stretched, slow and cruel. News of his arrest exploded across social media and news channels. Reporters hailed it as the final chapter in a long saga of corporate greed and criminal dece
