Chapter 3

When a man shouted behind them. Alejandro was released immediately by the security. He immediately sprang up and faced the guy who had told them to free him. Mr. Chan's presence with Helena shocked him. Mr. Chan even sweetly wrapped his arms around Helena, while looking at each other lovingly.

"Helena! Is this the man you have chosen to replace me!?"Alejandro shouted in anger.

"What are you saying!? Don't act like you don't about this Alejandro. Did I think we already talked about this? Can you please stop!?"

"No! What the fuck are you talking about! You are my girlfriend and you are cheating on me!" Alejandro answered back and he was teary-eyed.

Alejandro noticed Mr. Chan still had his phone. He was filming and appearing in the Tok Tok live program. But he doesn't care.

"I didn't cheat on you! Will you stop? We are already over!"

Alejandro was shocked to hear that. He clenched his hands. He stepped forward but was taken aback when he noticed Helena wearing an expensive outfit. He remembered buying the garment with the rest of his two-month income. He bought it for her as a gift because she wanted it so much.

"I bought that dress for you and you're just gonna use it just to date that bastard!? You're unbelievable Helena!" Alejandro said while pointing at the dress.

"Who the hell are you? And don't dare call me a bastard! You don't know me!" Mr. Chan interrupted him.

Alejandro paid no attention to Mr. Chan and instead fixed his furious gaze on Helena.

"How could you possibly treat me like this, Helena!?" Alejandro confronted Helena.

"What!? Don't act like you're a victim here Alejandro! Can't you understand what I am saying? We are already finished!" Helena answered.

She then grabbed Diego to get back inside the building but Alejandro was fast to stop them by grabbing Helena through her left arm.

"No! You can't do this to me, Helena! How could you lie to me and Mr. Chan about our relationship? Stop acting like you don't know anything about what I am talking about! After everything that I've put you through, do you still have the guts to cheat on me? After all the love and effort I've given for you!? Tell me, are you only doing this because you want to make money?"

Those words came out of Alejandro's mouth without him being able to stop himself from venting his frustration. Helena suddenly slapped him hard.

"Stop accusing me, Alejandro! Stop pretending that you don't know what I am talking about! I am so done with you! You filthy bastard!" Helena yelled at Alejandro.

"Helena, do you know this guy? If you don't, I can kick him out right away! I won't allow him to treat you like this," Mr. Chan interrupted again.

"Diego, he's the one I've been telling you over the phone last night. I already broke up with him and he's threatening me not to leave him. He's been stalking me and he always took advantage of my kindness. He wasn't even content with using me to join your company and now he's abusing my every right to be happy," Helena acted in a dramatic statement while crying fake tears.

Alejandro's jaw dropped from what he just heard.

"You are lying, Helena! That's not true!"

"It's the truth, Alejandro! Stop making it hard for both of us! We're already done!"Helena said without batting her eyelashes. Those words stabbed Alejandro many times and it hurt him big time.

"You're unbelievable Helena! I didn't do bad things to you!"

"Alejandro, stop spreading false information! Enough with this already!" Helena responded and then began crying so convincingly in front of Diego.

After that, Diego turned the screen of his phone toward him, and he can now see his face, which is still filled with shock and disgust. Even Alejandro was able to see the comments that kept popping up, and the people writing them were giving him a lot of negative feedback. Someone even commented to threaten him, which was very disturbing. The vast majority of them did not believe his accusations at any point. Some people even suggested that he was acting dramatically to manipulate Helena.

"Helena, you are telling a blatant lie here! What in the name of god did you say to them about I've been very kind to you, haven't I? I had the impression that you loved me!"

"Let me correct it, Alejandro! Absolutely, I adore you, but that was in the past. After all that you've done to hurt me, I can't forgive you! It's finished! I don't love you anymore! Can you just let me go and give me the chance to be with the one who loves me for who I am?" Helena remarked as she supported her weight against Diego's chest.

Alejandro stared angrily and with an overwhelming feeling of disgust at the two of them. After that, Diego turned his attention to Helena.

"Don't worry, sweetie, I won't ever give in to his demands and let him act however he pleases. You will never have to worry about anyone else hurting you again. I promise you."

After saying that, Diego planted a passionate kiss on Helena's lips. Alejandro could no longer bear to see them in such a state, and he was unable to contain his emotions any longer. He punched Diego in his face and he immediately dropped to the floor. Helena then let out a startled scream, the security guards jumped on Alejandro and pinned him to the ground before he could punch Diego again. Even though he made an effort to move, he was unable to do so because he was already captive by the guards.

Alejandro was immediately dragged outside El Paraiso and the guard threw him in the bushes.

"I will never, ever forgive you, Helena, for what you did to me! I will never forget this Helena! Never!" Alejandro said, giving Helena a revengeful look in his eyes. He will never forget this thing! Never!

Chapter 18At 1:47 AM, a car pulled up outside the safehouse. Alejandro and Jero locked eyes.“No one followed me,” Jero whispered. “I swear—”Three rapid knocks hit the door. Alejandro drew his pistol, moving silently to the window. Through the blinds, he saw her. Helena. Alone. No guards. No weapons visible. Alejandro opened the door slowly, gun behind his back. “You’re a long way from your kingdom.”Helena raised both hands. “I came to talk.”He let her in, but his stance stayed rigid. She walked in like she owned the place, eyes flicking over the monitors. “So it’s true. You really are alive.”“Of course I am alive! Disappointed?” he asked flatly.“I’m impressed,” she said. “Diego was convinced you were too broken to come back. I told him we underestimated you.”Alejandro didn’t blink. “You didn’t come here to compliment me.”“No,” she said, turning to face him fully. “I came to make a deal.”Jero scoffed. “Typical.”Helena ignored him. “You want justice. I can give you Diego. Yo

Chapter 17The first snow of the season dusted the rooftops and blanketed the sleepy streets of the town in white. Alejandro stood by the window of his apartment, the same one above the hardware store, watching the flurries fall like ash. His breath fogged up the glass, and he drew a small “A” with his fingertip before wiping it away.In his lap lay the notebook he’d been filling for weeks—evidence, timelines, scribbled theories. But today, something felt different. The pieces were beginning to fit. The audio files from the USB drive had confirmed Helena and Diego’s scheme, but Jero had gone further. That morning, Jero had called with urgency.“I’ve found a name,” he said. “Someone who helped set up the offshore accounts. A fixer. Real ghost-type. Name's Lorenzo Fenix.”Alejandro’s pulse quickened. “Does he work for them?”“He did. But word is, Diego burned him recently. Cut him out of a deal, left him hanging. Fenix isn’t loyal to anyone now.”Alejandro gripped the phone tighter. “Ca

Chapter 16The next day. The first real crack in Helena and Diego’s armor came on a rainy Tuesday. Jero’s voice was low and tense when Alejandro answered the burner. “They’re panicking.”Alejandro sat up straighter. “Why?”“That audio file we got? I didn’t keep it to myself.”Alejandro’s gut tightened. “Jero…”“I was careful,” Jero interrupted. “I sent a snippet—just a few seconds—to a freelance journalist. Someone who owes me big. She’s not mainstream. Not corporate. But she has a following. She posted it anonymously.”Alejandro's breath caught. “And?”“It’s spreading. Slowly. A few threads on Reddit. One investigative blog picked it up. People are asking questions.”Alejandro stared out the window. The sky was a gray sheet, rain tapping against the glass. “And Helena? Diego?”“They’ve both gone quiet. No more public appearances. I heard Helena canceled a board meeting. Diego shut down his social media.”Alejandro allowed a flicker of satisfaction to bloom in his chest. It wasn’t vi

  • Chapter 15

Chapter 15Alejandro spent his first few nights on the run in a series of anonymous, low-budget motels scattered across the outskirts of the city. The rooms were small and dimly lit, reeking of stale cigarettes and moldy carpets. Sleep eluded him, as anxiety and fear consumed his thoughts. Every time a car pulled into the parking lot or a door slammed nearby, he tensed, expecting the authorities to burst in.He kept the television volume low, scanning every news report and headline, hoping for a glimmer of truth to emerge. But the media had painted a damning picture of him. "Trusted Executive Turns Criminal Mastermind," one headline read. "Millions Missing: Alejandro Garcia at the Center of Scandal," blared another. Reporters rehashed the same narrative: he had orchestrated a sophisticated embezzlement scheme, betrayed the company, and vanished without a trace. His photo was everywhere—on television, online, plastered across newspapers. The man who had once commanded respect was now a
