Chapter 5
ALEJANDRO cursed as he glared at them. He's disgusted by what Helena told him, which enraged him even more.
"Damn, you Helena! I will make sure you will pay for what you've done to me!" he said as he stood up.
He rode his motorcycle outside of his company's premises. He entered the bar in search of his best friend Alfred. He's the bartender, and he was looking for someone to talk to.
WHEN Alejandro reached the bar, he ordered a blue margarita and sat at the corner.
"Hey? Such a pleasant surprise to see you here! Did you miss me?" Alfred approaches him as he places the meal tray at the bar island's corner.
"I just wanted to relax my mind," he simply stated and sipped on his drink.
"Hmm, I think you've got a huge problem. Your lower lip is swollen. Did you get into a fight? Tell me, who was it?" Alfred stated as he stared him in the eyes.
"That has something to do with Helena—"
"Of course, it's always about Helena. What did she do to you this time? Did she want expensive shoes, dresses, and jewelry again?" Alfred said while slightly laughing at him.
Alejandro was not offended; in fact, he was used to Alfred's reaction whenever he mentioned Helena. He constantly insulted him and encouraged him to leave Helena since she was unsuitable for him.
"We've already broken up," he added, emptying his glass. As Alfred heard that, he looked surprised.
"What? What happened? Did you end your relationship with her?"
"No, I didn't. You know I love her and she did dump me. She preferred that wealthy jerk over me!" Alejandro was so mad and he couldn't stop raising his voice.
"Did she do that!? Did she cheat on you? I knew it! That girl is a good digger. I already told you that from the start but you didn't listen to me. I'm right that she's no good for you," Alfred said and his disappointment was written all over his face.
"So what are you gonna do now? Do you intend to pursue her?" Alfred seriously asked him.
"No. But I will make certain that I retaliate for what she did to me." He replied sternly and rose up. He left Alfred money and a tip.
"Are you not going to wait for me to finish my work?" Alfred called him as he was about to walk out.
"I'm gonna do something, Alfred. See you some other time," he answered without looking back at Alfred.
Alejandro then went outside the bar. He rode on his motorbike and went home.
WHEN he reached home, he sat in front of his desktop and fished his phone out of his pocket. He transferred all the pictures he had with Helena. He compiled some of it in the other folder. After that, he created a dummy account on social media. He was plotting an idea on how to get even with Helena and he doesn't care what may be the outcome of this. He wants to make sure that Helena will have regrets about leaving him over that bastard, Diego.
EARLY morning then, when Alejandro's suspension is already lifted. He got back to his work like nothing happened to him, but the truth is, he was going to do something important today.
He went straight to the CEO's office instead of going to his working desk. And when he got there, he saw Diego talking to his father. Alejandro immediately interrupts them and Diego is surprised to see him.
"Yes, Mr. Garcia? What are you doing here in my office? I didn't recall that I had called you," Mr. Chan, the CEO, asked him.
Alejandro was ready to say something, when Diego cut him off.
"Daddy, I called him. I'm sorry, I didn't tell you but I am discussing something with Alejandro about my project. Excuse us," Diego said as he grabbed Alejandro out of the office.
"What the fuck are you doing!? Why the hell are you here!?" Diego asked him as they entered the other room. He even held his uniform collar.
Alejandro shoved Diego.
"It's also none of your fucking business," Alejandro remarked as he walked away from Diego.
"Is this because of Helena? You intended to humiliate my girlfriend in front of my father!? I cant believe you are still not over her with Helena! After the bad things you did to her!" Diego said, accusing him in such a manner.
Alejandro faces Diego with so much rage in his eyes.
"You're so naive for loving Helena. She's merely taking advantage of you! But the hell do I care right now? What I want is to get even because that woman you're crazy in love with, humiliates me! She betrayed me!" Alejandro answered as he raised his voice at Diego.
"And quit acting like you're the ideal partner for her. You have no idea who the real she is! She will soon betray you, just as she did me!" Alejandro continued, and Diego was unable to respond to his remarks.
Alejandro's fists tighten as he gets back to his working desk.
"Hi! You're running late? Or I guess you're early?" Jero said, who had just only arrived. He didn't answer Jero. His mind is out of space.
"Where have you been?" Jero asked him as he sat on his working desk beside his table.
"I went to see the CEO—Mr. Chan but I didn't get a chance to tell him what I wanted to say. Diego suddenly interrupted and dragged me outside his office," Alejandro explained while he pressed the power of his desktop to on.
"What!? You really did that? What are you really planning to do?" Jero asked while looking at him astonished.
"I did that because I wanted to expose Helena but I wasn't given a chance to do it! That Diego is head over heels for Helena. He doesn't want to believe me that Helena is a user!"
"Woah! Relax Alejandro. We're in the office. I think you should not bring your personal problem here at work. Although, I do understand your pain and rage but you should understand that this thing could affect your performance here at work," Jero warned him.
He let out a heavy sigh and said nothing. He stood up and left his desk. He went to the cafeteria to buy some cigarettes. After that, he went to the rooftop to get some fresh air and to smoke. Actually, he doesn't really smoke, but right now, he thinks he needs it to calm himself for a bit. He's thinking about when should be the right time to expose Helena and he can't wait for the results!

Chapter 18At 1:47 AM, a car pulled up outside the safehouse. Alejandro and Jero locked eyes.“No one followed me,” Jero whispered. “I swear—”Three rapid knocks hit the door. Alejandro drew his pistol, moving silently to the window. Through the blinds, he saw her. Helena. Alone. No guards. No weapons visible. Alejandro opened the door slowly, gun behind his back. “You’re a long way from your kingdom.”Helena raised both hands. “I came to talk.”He let her in, but his stance stayed rigid. She walked in like she owned the place, eyes flicking over the monitors. “So it’s true. You really are alive.”“Of course I am alive! Disappointed?” he asked flatly.“I’m impressed,” she said. “Diego was convinced you were too broken to come back. I told him we underestimated you.”Alejandro didn’t blink. “You didn’t come here to compliment me.”“No,” she said, turning to face him fully. “I came to make a deal.”Jero scoffed. “Typical.”Helena ignored him. “You want justice. Chapter 17The first snow of the season dusted the rooftops and blanketed the sleepy streets of the town in white. Alejandro stood by the window of his apartment, the same one above the hardware store, watching the flurries fall like ash. His breath fogged up the glass, and he drew a small “A” with his fingertip before wiping it away.In his lap lay the notebook he’d been filling for weeks—evidence, timelines, scribbled theories. But today, something felt different. The pieces were beginning to fit. The audio files from the USB drive had confirmed Helena and Diego’s scheme, but Jero had gone further. That morning, Jero had called with urgency.“I’ve found a name,” he said. “Someone who helped set up the offshore accounts. A fixer. Real ghost-type. Name's Lorenzo Fenix.”Alejandro’s pulse quickened. “Does he work for them?”“He did. But word is, Diego burned him recently. Cut him out of a deal, left him hanging. Fenix isn’t loyal to anyone now.”Alejandro gripped the phone tighter. “Ca

Chapter 16The next day. The first real crack in Helena and Diego’s armor came on a rainy Tuesday. Jero’s voice was low and tense when Alejandro answered the burner. “They’re panicking.”Alejandro sat up straighter. “Why?”“That audio file we got? I didn’t keep it to myself.”Alejandro’s gut tightened. “Jero…”“I was careful,” Jero interrupted. “I sent a snippet—just a few seconds—to a freelance journalist. Someone who owes me big. She’s not mainstream. Not corporate. But she has a following. She posted it anonymously.”Alejandro's breath caught. “And?”“It’s spreading. Slowly. A few threads on Reddit. One investigative blog picked it up. People are asking questions.”Alejandro stared out the window. The sky was a gray sheet, rain tapping against the glass. “And Helena? Diego?”“They’ve both gone quiet. No more public appearances. I heard Helena canceled a board meeting. Diego shut down his social media.”Alejandro allowed a flicker of satisfaction to bloom in his chest. It wasn’t vi

Chapter 15Alejandro spent his first few nights on the run in a series of anonymous, low-budget motels scattered across the outskirts of the city. The rooms were small and dimly lit, reeking of stale cigarettes and moldy carpets. Sleep eluded him, as anxiety and fear consumed his thoughts. Every time a car pulled into the parking lot or a door slammed nearby, he tensed, expecting the authorities to burst in.He kept the television volume low, scanning every news report and headline, hoping for a glimmer of truth to emerge. But the media had painted a damning picture of him. "Trusted Executive Turns Criminal Mastermind," one headline read. "Millions Missing: Alejandro Garcia at the Center of Scandal," blared another. Reporters rehashed the same narrative: he had orchestrated a sophisticated embezzlement scheme, betrayed the company, and vanished without a trace. His photo was everywhere—on television, online, plastered across newspapers. The man who had once commanded respect was now a
