The town was awfully quite. The cricket sounded far in the forest while the craoking sound of the toads could be heard.

Kael got up gently from the make shift bed he slept on. He couldn't sleep after the fight he had with Commander Rael. His eyes went towards the lamp that was rented on the table side him.

He got up and walked slowly towards the window, he winced alittle as his eyes went to the sore wound Rael had dealt to the corner of his stomach.

Kael had refused to have it treated. Maybe he had hope he died from it or maybe he didn't care about it.

He walked into the room and saw Rael rested on his sword like a guarding angel.

Kael looked at him and smiled. He stood there staring at him for a while, a part of him reminded him of his father. The way he was always over protective of him.

Kael's gaze landed on the sword. The carvings on it and how it shimmering like a gem in the dark. Kael went closer to have a look at it but he knew any closer would awake the dragon.

Kael looked at the old man and laughed. It was too simple. He saw that all he needed was to take off the piece of clothes from his broad and muscular arms. "Is that all I need to do?" he asked, staring at his face. "Boy, that is all you need to do, and if you can do that, then you don't answer to me. You are free to be your own man. Take the cloth before the sand time runs out." Kael stood still, his gaze locked on the red cloth. His brain was calculating his next moves and also predicting Commander Rael's moves. His words rang like a bell in his ears. The earth was damp beneath Kael’s bare feet. Morning dew fell slowly, making the atmosphere a bit chilly. He could hear the rustle of leaves, the flap of Commander Rael’s robe, and the creak of his old joints as the man stretched his shoulders. Kael tightened his grip on the sword, then remembered Rael’s words—no weapons. Slowly, he dropped the weapon to the floor.Commander Rael gave a soft smile, acknowledging him as a worthy o

It was nearly dawn when Kael decided to go back home. He was covered in his own blood. Most of them were his attackers, but still, he had some cuts on his body.Kael dragged his feet each time he walked. He was weak and void and could barely even walk. He got to the front of Commander Rael's home and immediately tried to behave; he was fine. He could see the old man at the front of the house training. It was Rael's habit to train each time he got up in the morning. He also liked not to be bothered. The leaves rustled gently as Kael stepped out of it. Master Rael flinched a little, with his eyes darting towards Kael. "Are you alright?" he asked, walking towards him. His eyes darted quickly over his body. "You are hurt." "I am fine." Kael replied, wincing a little bit. He was about to take another step when he collapsed into Rael's hands. The man carried Kael immediately even though it looked like he couldn't.Commander Rael laid Kael back on the long table. "Who did this to you?"

Kael ducked instinctively, the sharp whistle of the flying sword grazing the edge of his ear. The weapon buried itself into the trunk of a tree behind him, quivering with force. His breath caught in his throat. The old man didn’t flinch. He cracked another groundnut between his teeth as if nothing had happened.Kael’s grip on his sword tightened. His eyes darted across the shadows of the forest, scanning for movement. The silence that followed was heavier than the blow itself.“Show yourself!” Kael roared. His voice echoed through the trees, trembling with both fury and fear. The old man finally raised his head, spitting the cracked nut shells into the soil. “You’re too loud, boy.” His voice had dropped, rough and almost guttural. “An enemy doesn’t show himself when you call. He waits for you to make a mostake.”Kael’s heart beat fast as another sound—softer this time, like fabric brushing against bark—reached his ears. He turned sharply, sword raised, but the shadows offered him noth

As the torrent of the rain poured heavily, Kael could feel every inch of his muscles coiled up, the cold rain soaking through his tunic and pouring into his warm body. The sword felt alive in his hand, pulsing with every beat of his heart. In front of him, Commander Rael stood still, his grip on his own blade steady, his eyes burning through the curtain of rain.Kael lunged again. This time there was no hesitation — his strike cut through the storm with ruthless precision. Their blades met in a flash of sparks, and the jolt rattled up his arms. Rael pivoted, using Kael’s momentum against him, and swung low. Kael leapt over the blade, landing hard in the mud with a splash, his boots slipping but not falling.“You’re fast,” Rael admitted, “but you’re still thinking too much. You could get better with your Hakana unleashed. All you have to do is give in to it." Kael gritted his teeth. “Or maybe I’m just not ready to give into what you want.”Rael came at him without warning, his blade

Kael was seated right outside the little house Commander Rael lives in. He was lost in thought and for a moment, he wished everything was peaceful. No demonf fight, no Hakana. Just peace. " You know that is not possible." A voice came from his back making Kael to shift and stare at the man who had a worrisome look on his face. Kael's mind drifted back to the fight he had with commander Rael. " Why did you do that?" " What?" the man squeezed his face taking a seat beside him. " Oh! The fight." he later said shaking his head slightly. Kael said nothing but simply kept staring, waiting for an answer. " I did that because I knew you were holding back. You could have killed him but you held back and used his energy against him." " And what about you? Do you think I was holding back too?" Kael asked with his eyebrow arched. There was a bit changes in the atmosphere, the weather was bit cloudy and it looks like it was going to rain any time soon. " Why don't we take a w
