Melaine's face contorted with rage as she whirled on her daughter like a viper striking its prey. "Useless! Absolutely useless!" she shrieked, her voice echoing through the hospital corridor. "What good are you if you can't even handle a few security guards?"
Emilia flinched under her mother's verbal assault, her cheeks burning with humiliation. "Mother, please—"
"Don't 'Mother please' me!" Melaine snapped, jabbing her finger at Emilia's chest. "Call Denver right now! Make him fix this mess!"
With trembling fingers, Emilia dialed Denver's number, pressing the phone desperately to her ear. The phone rang once, twice, three times before going to voicemail. She tried again with the same result.
"He's not answering," Emilia whispered, her voice barely audible.
"Not answering?" Melaine's voice reached a pitch that could shatter glass. "What kind of man doesn't answer when his fiancée calls? What kind of powerful family heir ignores an emergency?"
The men in black watched the scene with obvious amusement, their smirks growing wider with each passing second.
"Having trouble reaching your knight in shining armor?" the lead man taunted, his voice dripping with mockery.
Emilia's hands clenched into fists. "He's... he's probably busy arranging important matters. We'll come back tomorrow when he can handle this personally."
"How pathetic," one of the other men chuckled. "A B-tier family that can't even guarantee a phone call."
This is humiliating, Emilia thought, her face burning with shame. Tomorrow, Denver will show these fools exactly who they're dealing with.
Melaine grabbed Emilia's arm roughly. "Fine! We're leaving! But mark my words," she snarled at the men in black, "you'll regret this tomorrow!"
The men simply laughed as the two women retreated down the corridor, their designer heels clicking frantically against the polished floor.
The next morning, Keith and Linda approached St. Augustine Memorial Hospital's entrance, the morning sun casting long shadows across the pavement. Keith wore a simple but well-tailored suit, while Linda carried a small medical bag.
As they neared the elevator bank, familiar voices rang out from the seating area nearby.
"Denver, why didn't you answer my calls yesterday?" Emilia's voice carried a sharp edge of accusation. "I needed you!"
Denver lounged in his chair with practiced nonchalance, though his eyes were bloodshot from his night of debauchery at the city's most exclusive nightclub. "Darling, I was in deep negotiations with the Miracle Doctor all evening. These high-level medical consultations require complete focus."
What a smooth liar, Keith thought, observing Denver's performance from a distance.
Emilia's expression immediately softened, her anger melting into adoration. "Oh, Denver! I'm so sorry for doubting you. You're always thinking of Laurent's welfare."
"Of course," Denver replied smugly. "The Miracle Doctor will arrive today to perform Laurent's surgery. Everything has been arranged."
Melaine clasped her hands together, tears of gratitude streaming down her cheeks. "Denver, you're an angel sent from heaven! What would we do without you?"
Denver's chest puffed out with false pride as he strode toward the men in black, who remained stationed like immovable sentinels at the elevator.
"Gentlemen," Denver announced with theatrical authority, "I am Denver Walsh, heir to the Walsh family—a powerful B-rank dynasty in this city. I'm ordering you to stand aside immediately."
The lead man looked Denver up and down with obvious disdain. "And I'm telling you to take a hike, pretty boy."
Denver's confident smile faltered slightly. "Do you have any idea what kind of influence my family wields? No one in this city dares to cross the Walsh name!"
"Your family name sounds about as impressive as a wet paper bag," another man replied with a snort of laughter.
"This is your final warning," Denver continued, his voice rising with desperation disguised as authority. "Move aside, or face the consequences of defying a B-tier family!"
The men in black exchanged amused glances before bursting into laughter that echoed through the hospital lobby.
"B-tier family?" the lead man wheezed between laughs. "What's next, are you going to threaten us with your daddy's allowance money?"
Denver's face turned crimson as he fumbled for his phone. "I'm calling my people right now! You'll be dragged out of here within the hour!"
As Denver barked orders into his phone, Emilia spotted Keith and Linda approaching from across the lobby. Her expression immediately darkened like storm clouds gathering.
"Keith!" she called out sharply, marching toward him with Melaine trailing behind. "What took you so long? Laurent needs blood immediately!"
"Stop yelling. Have you finished signing the divorce papers? If you have, hand them over. We're done," Keith said indifferently.
"You... What’s that supposed to mean? Are you threatening me?" Emilia shouted. "Let me tell you, it won’t work! You think I’m scared you’ll stop giving blood to Laurent? The miracle doctor will be here any minute — you’re useless now!"
"Oh." Keith looked at her calmly. "So, did you sign it or not?"
She snatched the pen from Keith's hand, her movements aggressive and theatrical. "Fine! You want to play hardball? I'll give you one final chance to prove you're worth keeping around as a servant!"
"Just sign the papers," Keith said with quiet finality.
"You arrogant piece of trash!" Emilia screeched, her voice echoing through the lobby. "You think you're calling the shots here? You're nothing but a used-up blood bag!"
"SIGN——THE——PAPER!" Keith stared at Emilia indifferently, his voice was so calm that Emilia felt uncomfortable.
"You..." Emilia was so furious she stomped her foot. The man who used to obey her every word like a dog had now become completely unrecognizable!
"You'll definitely regret this!" she yelled, then snatched up the pen and scrawled her signature onto the divorce agreement in a fit of anger.

The revelation about the new pharmaceutical company hit both Keith and Viola like a physical blow. They exchanged a quick glance, their earlier tensions momentarily forgotten in the face of this business threat."Tell us more," Viola said urgently, turning back to Harrison. "What else do you know about this company?""Well," Harrison began, clearly enjoying being the bearer of important information, "from what I've heard, they're bringing in doctors who are known for creating miracles. These aren't your average physicians – they're supposedly at the cutting edge of medical innovation. People who've been treating supposedly incurable conditions."Keith's suspicion immediately spiked. "Miracle workers? That's quite a claim.""That's what they're marketing themselves as," Harrison confirmed. "They're positioning themselves as the answer for patients who've exhausted all other options.""Do you know who owns this company?" Keith asked, his voice tight.Harrison nodded and looked around th

Keith arrived at the Blackwater anniversary party fashionably late, his mood already sour from Yona's deliberate avoidance earlier. The venue was impressive – a luxury hotel ballroom decorated with elegant lighting and floral arrangements that probably cost more than most people's monthly rent.Well-dressed guests mingled throughout the space, champagne glasses in hand, the buzz of conversation and light jazz music filling the air.But Keith barely noticed any of it. His eyes swept across the room, searching for one person in particular. And then he found her.Yona stood near the far end of the ballroom, wearing an emerald green gown that made her look absolutely radiant. Laughing, actually, at something the man beside her was saying.Marcus Chen.Keith felt his jaw tighten as he watched them. "Do you have any idea how worried I've been?" Keith continued, stepping closer. "You didn't tell anyone where you were going, who you were with, when you'd be back—""I told Linda I was going to dinner," Yona interrupted. "And why would you be worried? I'm nobody important. Just your ex-wife's cousin who you're helping out of charity."Keith flinched at that. "That's not fair.""Isn't it?" Yona asked, her voice hardening. "Oh, by the way, the party is tomorrow. The Blackwater anniversary party. I assume you remember you agreed to go.""I don't care about the party right now," Keith said dismissively. "I care about where you've been and whether you're safe—""Well, as you can see, I'm perfectly fine," Yona said, spreading her arms. "No harm done. Marcus was a perfect gentleman, we had a nice dinner, and I came home. Happy?""No, I'm not happy," Keith said, his frustration evident. "You confessed that you had feelings for me just last night, and now you're going out on dates with strang

Yona arrived at the upscale Italian restaurant Marcus had recommended, her stomach churning with a mixture of nerves and resignation. She spotted him immediately – he was sitting at a table near the window, looking perfectly composed in another expensive suit. When Marcus saw her, his face lit up with genuine pleasure. "Yona! You look absolutely stunning.""Thank you," Yona said, sliding into the seat across from him. "You mentioned this place has great Italian food?""The best in the city," Marcus confirmed enthusiastically. "I'm so glad you decided to come. I wasn't sure you would after our first meeting.""Why's that?" Yona asked, studying the menu to avoid his intense gaze."You seemed very cautious," Marcus said with a slight smile. "Like you weren't sure you could trust me.""I didn't know you," Yona pointed out. "I still don't, really.""Well, then let's fix that," Marcus said, leaning forward with interest. "Tell me about yourself, Yona Richardson. What do you do?"As the even

Keith stood up abruptly, pacing across the room with agitation. His mind was racing, and he couldn't quite identify the emotion churning in his chest, but it felt uncomfortably like anger."So she just went out? With some random guy she met today?" Keith demanded."I guess so," Linda replied, setting down her journal completely now. "Why? Is something wrong?""Yes, something's wrong!" Keith said, his voice rising. "She told me last night that she had feelings for me. She confessed that she liked me, that it was too painful to watch me with other women. And now, less than twenty-four hours later, she's going on a date?"Linda's eyebrows rose. "She told you she had feelings for you?""Last night in the kitchen," Keith confirmed, still pacing. "She said she liked me and that's why she wanted to move out. She was practically crying about it.""And what did you say to her?" Linda asked carefully."I didn't get a chance to say anything!" Keith exclaimed. "She just told me to pretend I didn'

"Think about it? What's there to think about, Dr. Cross?""Whether or not I can fall in love with Cynthia," Keith replied honestly. "I don't know if that's something that will happen for me.""Love can grow with time," Larsson argued, waving his hand dismissively.
