Four Months Ago, Japan

The terrorists Leo suspected of working for the Shadow Government had massed in the streets of Tokyo at nine that night, hungry for blood and determined to wipe out Leo's team once and for all. But Leo, Finn, and Henry refused to yield ground. They rallied their team and struck first, seizing the advantage before the enemy could regroup.

The trio moved like a single organism, their bodies executing mirrored, lethal choreography born from months of brutal, unrelenting training. No rehearsal could have produced this precision—only pain had forged it.

Bullets sliced past Leo as he wove and ducked, muscle memory guiding every motion, while Finn and Henry charged forward, cutting a bloody path through the enemy line.

Leo's fists found their targets the instant firearms clicked empty. He closed the distance and became the storm.

He remembered his mother's face, gray and hollowed by coma, and the fury it had ignited in him. He had hunted for answers, dug through shadows, and found a name: Harry Kane. The man leading this very mission, on Johnson's orders, though Leo hadn't known that detail until it was almost too late.

"You're done, Harry!" Leo snarled, and the two collided in a brutal, merciless dance of violence, fists and steel singing through the night while Finn and Henry tore through the remaining enemies like vengeance given form.

Henry surged forward to back Leo up, his strikes sharp and calculated, each one a small masterpiece of controlled fury, until finally his rhythm broke and Harry's technical brilliance began to overwhelm him.

Leo shifted, became something colder, something unpredictable, and drove blow after blow into Harry's neck until the man staggered and finally crashed to the ground, broken.

Leo raised his gun, hand trembling, finger hovering over the trigger, the man who murdered his mother now helpless before him. Something inside him screamed to fire. Something else — quieter, more human — begged him not to become what he despised.

He felt Finn's eyes on him. Henry's too. Both waiting, holding their breath, silently daring him to choose mercy or vengeance.

"Just do it," Harry taunted, blood staining his teeth as he smiled like a man already dead. "Kill me for taking your mother's life." Henry closed his eyes, bracing for whatever Leo would choose...

Omega Station, Phantom Zone

"What?!" Leo exploded, disbelief crashing over him like a wave. The woman he'd come to care for—gentle, warm, achingly kind—was Johnson's daughter. The revelation ripped through him like a blade.

"You shouldn't have told him," Michael snapped, rounding on Rita, his voice tight with barely restrained anger.

"He deserved the truth," Rita fired back, refusing to flinch. "He needs to understand exactly what he's walked into."

"I don't care," Leo cut in, his voice hard as stone. "Whose daughter she is changes nothing. She has a good heart. That's all that matters to me."

"This isn't about hearts, Leo!" Michael's voice rose, sharp with warning. "This is about the fate of the world. One mistake—one moment of weakness—and everything we've fought for collapses. We're in the final round. There's no room for error, and you know it."

"I *am* considering it," Leo shot back, jaw clenched. "But I also remember the rules. Even the Chancellor has no authority over who a host chooses as teammates. That line isn't meant to be crossed—not by you, not by anyone."

Michael's silence confirmed it. The truth stung, but it was undeniable.

"Then we're done here," Leo said coldly. "Julian, take me back. Now."

"Noted, Captain. Initiating teleportation." The mechanical hum enveloped him, and in an instant, Leo was gone, yanked back to the bunker in a blur of light and static.

He collapsed onto the sofa, silence pressing down on him like a weight. Rose approached cautiously, reading the storm behind his eyes.

"What happened?" she asked, her voice soft but insistent.

Leo said nothing. How could he tell her that her own father orchestrated the very apocalypse threatening to consume them all, that he was the architect leading straight to the mastermind pulling every string?

"It's nothing," he lied, exhaling sharply, the words tasting bitter. "Classified."

He turned toward Julian instead, desperate to escape the conversation, then paused, struck by sudden inspiration.

"Julian, with my new tier, could I control the sea? Boil it, kill the sea beast where it hides?" he asked, testing the boundaries of his new power.

"A valiant thought, Captain, but futile," Julian replied evenly. "The sea beast's level far exceeds your current capability. It would neutralize the attempt instantly, and could turn it back on you."

"Great," Leo muttered, frustration coiling tight in his chest. He knew the danger of underestimating a stronger enemy, yet the reminder still stung like salt in an open wound.

"So much for an upgrade," Rose added dryly, though concern flickered behind her sarcasm.

"What about Finn?" she pressed, unable to hold back the question that had gnawed at her. "You called him your friend once. What could they have possibly offered him to make him betray you?"

"That's exactly what I intend to find out," Leo said, his voice low and dangerous. "Whatever bitterness he carried, Johnson and his Anti-Omega Protocol clearly exploited it. And when I find out how, there will be a reckoning."

Johnson's plane touched down, and he strode straight from his campaign meeting into the bunker, radiating cold authority. With a single gesture, two of his men were fed to the alien beasts—their screams silenced in seconds, a brutal display of power disguised as discipline.

Finn stood apart, haunted by his own failures, watching the execution with a hollow dread. He knew, with chilling certainty, that his own fate could mirror theirs if he faltered again.

"Don't worry, Mr. Lloyd," Johnson said, voice smooth and merciless. "You won't end up like them—not yet. But your punishment stands. You're barred from advancing to the next tier. Someone else will face Leo in your place." His lips curled into something between a smile and a threat. "Someone I trust far more."

Harry stepped forward, his body a gleaming testament to cybernetic enhancement, cold and lethal.

"Harry Macquoid," Finn breathed, memory crashing over him—the last time he, Leo, and Henry had crossed paths with this man.

He remembered the truth now, sharp and undeniable: Harry had murdered Leo's mother, and Leo had spent months hunting him down, uncovering his ties to the Shadow Government.

"In the flesh," Harry said, smiling like a blade catching light.

"What?!" Finn's voice cracked with disbelief.

"You're new here, kid," Harry sneered, savoring every word. "I've served the Shadow Government far longer than you. Now I'm here to clean up your mess."

"Now that Leo has ascended to tier two," Johnson continued, satisfaction dripping from every syllable, "you'll remain exactly where you are, while Harry takes your place and does what you couldn't. He'll bring me my daughter."

Finn's fists clenched, fury boiling beneath his skin as he watched his chance for vengeance slip away, stolen by the very man who had once taken everything from Leo—and by the poisoned promise that had lured Finn into betrayal in the first place.
