Frozen in time.

Lewis pov.

He chuckles, “What do you think I'm doing?”

I twitch, “Answer my question!”

He remains calm for a while before he starts walking towards me. Yet everything remains still.

What kind of power is this? Should it be an illusion? But illusions have a gap within reality. If it is an illusion, then I should be able to wake up from it by inflicting pain on myself.

Maybe it worked.

I was certain. I slowly open my eyes.

But to my greatest surprise. It didn't work, reality remained frozen.

I gnashed my teeth, unable to express my disappointment.

He was already standing before me. I didn't even sense his presence. He stares directly in the eyes.

Rachel iAugustine pov.Rachel. I knew that there was something strange about her, but I couldn't figure her out. The way she smiles, the way she spoke. It all felt strange. Too strange. I mean, someone cannot be as nice as her. As she led us during the tour, I secretly whispered warnings into the ears of my teammates concerning her. But they didn't listen to me.Rachel took us to a certain site. While we were there, I kept my distance from my teammates and paid close attention to her. Rachel must have noticed my absence from their discussion. Because later, she meets with me. “What are you doing here all by yourself? Come and join us.” Rachel holds my hand, with a smile emerging from both ends of her cheeks.I pretended as though things were fine, I would rather not show any form of resistance towards her. “I will be with you guys. I just need some time alone for a moment,” I lied. But she kept pushing forward, insisting I follow her. But I kept resisting until she eventually lef

Yet again.Andy pov.The rest of my teammates took cover. Bernie created yet another barrier and covered us with it. I saw as the explosion ignited. As more bolts descend, I notice that Oscar's body slowly fades away. Oscar used his body as the bomb. The explosion was so tremendous that it ripped through the barrier Oscar was sealed in.Alas, it was done. We were so concerned about our safety that we left Augustine behind. When they got to him, he was unharmed. Then I caught a glimpse of the city. It was reduced to nothing. Turns out we didn't think through our plan of trapping them in a barrier within the city.I was sure it would work as always. But this time, I'm wrong. This proves my thoughts earlier, our enemies have been sending individuals stronger than us, people we couldn't hope of defeating.75 percent of the city was lost. Everyone died instantly, including the utopian soldiers sent to watch over the city. The remaining presumed 25 percent were just empty buildings.I heard

Lightning bolts attack.Augustine pov.Minutes later the noise stopped.I opened my eyes only to see the dead body of the old man. His eyes were staring into mine.I looked around and saw the bodies of my teammates scattered across the room. Luckily nobody was hurt. Then I saw him. The person who broke through the ceiling with lightning. He looks at us with a devilish smirk on his face. Then he sees me moving from his end, “Huh, you are alive? I thought maybe you'd be dead. Oh well, perhaps I will just have to kill you again.” He walks down from the pile of rubble, heading towards my direction.I was angry.I slowly picked myself up from the floor, still struggling to regain my senses. As I rose my head, I saw a flash of light. It was lightning. He directed it towards me. The force from the lightning threw me outside the building. I groan. Then he slowly walks up to me. “You are stubborn. So I will just have to rain more on you.” He strikes me again with more lightning. As the ligh

Chapter 12South-south.Lewis pov.I looked at the doorstep to see who it was. It turns out to be the man from earlier. He stops by the door. “How was your night? I patched up your wounds, so you will be fine. Only if you give yourself some time to heal, that is.”I twitched my eye. “So is that why you kidnapped me, you bastard?” “Look, Ace told me you were coming. He described you perfectly. I'm going to be your trainer only if you permit me to, that is,” he explains calmly.I deeply inhaled. He continues by introducing himself to me, “I'm Jean, and I was once Ace's friend, but along the way we parted ways with each other.”“Why did you leave the falcon? Can you explain?” I asked. He leans by the wall. “Because I would rather not be a part of that world, I left the team and stayed off the coasts. But we remained in touch.”“You still haven't answered my question. What caused it, not what happened after it?” I was persistent, maybe too persistent, because subsequently, he didn't say a

Sheila.Augustine pov.I stood underneath the acidic rain. After a while, it stopped. Lying on the ground was she. It seems she has passed out from the impact of my punch.“Augustine,” Elenore waves at me.I smiled at her as I approached them.Sheila pov.Flash back.“You two children are cursed. I don't want to ever see your faces again.” Those were the words that came out of my mother's mouth, when she locked the door of our house against me, and my elder brother. We were from the South Central district of Utopia. It was mainly the hold for the military at that time. My father was killed during the war there. Our mother remarried, and when she discovered I and my brother had powers, she threw us out of our father's house because her new husband said so.We lived on the streets, nobody seemed to care until we were sheltered by an elderly man. Use your ability to annihilate them all.Augustine pov.We arrived at another place. I took a look around. It seems nobody is here. But one thing occurred to me.How come we didn't notice this place ever existed? I mean when we arrived at this place earlier during our fight with the artist. We went around the place, but we couldn't find this place. Then I saw something. There were ashes on the floor.Immediately I remembered her. The lady with the toxic ability. Though I was unable to see or perceive her toxic, from the way the ground looks, this place was burned not too long ago.The ashes were still fresh. Smoke was still engulfing the air. She was here, I could feel it. My instincts never fail.Elenore eyes were staring at one particular place. “She is here. I can see her,” she said to me. “Then let
