Chapter 7

Lucas answered the call on the third ring.

"I'm dressing up, Peyton," Lucas said.

"Don't travel again. I have seen his face," Peyton said.

"Are you kidding me?"

"Keep your eyes on your W******p. Would send the video soon."

"Wow! How do you get it?"

"No one must see it. We must move in silence."

"Johnny had superb skills. Moving in silence won't work. I must use the video against him before he can take me down."

"Broadcasting it won't work. We don't know his plan yet. And it seems many men were working for him. Maybe I should keep the video to myself then."

"Don't do that. I will cooperate with you."

"Good."

"See me today. I will reward you."

At Kai's house, Johnny instructed Kai to shave him in the morning.

Kai cleared Johnny's beard and clip his long hair with a clipper. Kai had been clipping Johnny's hair since the time they lived in Georgetown. He knows which hairstyle makes Johnny look more charming.

"Wow! No one would doubt that you are Esposito's son now. I am looking at Esposito." Kai grinned when Johnny blushed.

"When would Hannah go back home?" Kai asked.

"She's an orphan. And I don't want her to go. She can stay with you till I settle everything. Do you want her to go?"

"No. But she might not feel comfortable living with me."

"She will."

"My Johnny, when will you visit your mom?"

"Soon."

"She called me last night and asked if you're kidnapped. And she was glad when I told her they lied."

Johnny rose and took a towel off the bed. "Wanna bath."

"Why did you always ignore me anytime I talk about your mom?"

"Need to."

"Till when?" Kai raised his voice. "Until Lucas kills her?"

Johnny dropped his jaw.

"You can't still tell? Is it me you should be protected? Protecting your mother should be your first goal. How can you take revenge on the dead when you can't save the living soul?"

Kai frowned and felt like spitting more fire, for he can't control his emotion anymore. He grabbed his jacket, his car key and walked out.

Johnny sat on the bed and think about what Kai had just said. He then realized he was killing his mother in his absence and he blames himself for taking everything higher than his mother.

Johnny took his phone and dialed Kai's number.

"Jeez."

Johnny sighed. "Send me my mom's number. Wanna visit her."

The door went opened suddenly and Kai jumped in with joy.

"My Johnny! Are you for real?"

Johnny smiled and nodded, dropping his phone back to the bed.

A gunshot was heard. A bullet broke the glasses window in, passed Johnny by, and dashed towards the man at the door.

Kai fell, and blood gushed out of his head. Johnny looked back and a sniper in a going-helicopter waved to him.

For a second, Johnny didn't know what to do. Kai's cold blood flowing out touched Johnny's legs. Hannah burst into tears as she rushed in.

Johnny knelt before the blood and wept his soul out.

"It should be me, not you, Kai. If I haven't called you, you will be alive." Johnny pounded on his chest and cried with Hannah till the moon popped its head from the sky.

Johnny then told Hannah to call for an ambulance and to tell the journalists that the wanted criminal killed Kai because Kai saved her. The news about Kai spread around New York. It makes some people sad, while some are glad that he died.

The government raised an army to help the police officers catch the criminal before he destroyed the whole of New York

Johnny shares contacts from Kai's sim with his. He wanted to call Kai's grandfather, who was living in Georgetown, but he was scared to break the old master's heart.

Later that night, Johnny threw Kai's phone into the river but kept his sim. Hannah walked inside while Johnny was smoking a cigarette.

"Have you called his grandfather?" Hannah asked.

"Still scared," Johnny said.

"Can I help?"

Johnny threw his phone at her. "I saved his phone number as an old master."

"Old master? Why?"

Johnny rose and walked out, for the hate of too many questions. After twenty minutes, Hannah meets him outside.

"Johnny, he wants to talk with you." Hannah gave him the phone.

Johnny forced a word out of his soul and a tear dropped from his eyes. "Master."

"Who did it?" the old master asked.

"I have no clue. But I guess the sniper was from Lucas."

The old master wept for a while. "Johnny, it's not your fault. It's my fault. I shouldn't have allowed him to follow you."

"I will take revenge on him."

"And so what? Can it bring him back to life? Do you think revenge can solve everything?"

Johnny dropped his jaw. Kai was just like the old master, who didn't believe in revenge and love.

"I'm so sorry." Johnny sniffed.

"It's okay. Just bring him his corpse. I want to see my grandson's face."

"Okay, master."

"The girl told me my grandson is in the mortuary. If you don't bring him, I will never forgive you." the old master hung up the call.

Johnny gave Hannah his phone, took his mask and gun inside the room, and drove Kai's car to the mortuary. With the mask on his face, he walked to the security, guiding the mortuary.

"Who are you?" the security said.

"I need my friend's corpse back," Johnny said.

"Who the fuck are you?"

Johnny knocked him down and removed the key from his pocket. Opening the door, he walked amid the silence of dead bodies and didn't waste time thinking about where Kai's body was.

He checked every corpse till he found Kai's face. Signing, he carried the corpse and then stopped suddenly as many police and soldiers stood at the door, aiming guns at him.

"Freeze. You are under arrest..."

"Don't move..."

Johnny put the corpse down gently before raising his hand.
