Chapter 7

Among the dishes thirty signature dishes were, The Fortress Stilt Fisherman Indulgence which cost twenty thousand five hundred dollars, Almas Caviar, thirty four thousand dollars per kilogram.

Everyone enjoyed the meal, even Daisy and Samantha. The only people that did not seem to be enjoying the meal were Arthur and Melissa.

Arthur knew that he did not have enough money to pay his own half of what they had eaten and Melissa knew that too, but she was downcast because she had expected Jake to still be hung up on her and not him moving on this fast.

When the manager of the restaurant heard about them, he came to their table with security.

Seeing that they ordered a lot of food and they were barely students, he thought that they could not afford to pay.

"Who's in charge here? Your bill is 250k. Are you able to pay?" The manager said, looking at them sternly.

"Ha! Of course we can pay. It's a split bill, I'll pay half and my friend over there will pay the other half and I'm not sure he would be able to" Arthur said, pointing towards Jake.

"We'll pay, sir. No need to involve security." Jake said over a glass of wine.

"I'll believe it when I see it. If you can't pay, I'll have no choice but to call the authorities to lock you up."

“You can't do that! I'm a regular customer here. The only person you should arrest is that pauper if he doesn't pay his part” Arthur said irritably.

“Okay, who's paying first?” The manager asked, looking at Arthur. “I think since you're our regular customer you should pay first.”

“I’m heading to the restroom, be right back.” Arthur walked away with unsteady feet.

In the restroom, Arthur called his father. “Hello, Dad. Good evening. Would you please wire me about one hundred thousand dollars? I took my team and some cheerleaders to dinner at the Three Seasons.”

“Arthur! Are you by any chance out of your mind? It had to be the Three Seasons? No cheaper place, and just what did you order? The Gold menu?”

When Arthur did not answer, his father went on, “You ordered the Gold menu, right? Because you are an irresponsible show-off, you went to eat at the Three Seasons and even ordered the Gold Menu. You made that decision yourself, sort it out yourself.” With that , his father hung up.

He trudged back heavily to his seat and when it was time to pay up, his card was charged and only thirty-two thousand dollars was paid, he had begun freaking out, and asked Melissa to help her complete the bill.

Melissa said, “Here charge the other eighteen thousand on my card.”

“You're supposed to pay one hundred and twenty five thousand dollars, if I'm correct.” The manager said to Arthur when he barely paid fifty.

Arthur was lost with words…

“Don't worry, I'll pay the rest.” Jake said, turning the whole attention to himself.

“It’s up to you now Jake, I hope you have the money.” Arthur demanded.

“Would you stop being haughty, you barely even paid yours. Kids like you cry to their fathers for everything, and in your case you cry to your girlfriend. Yet you still have the nerve to taunt one who has bested you.”

When it was time for Jake to pay his own half, he calmly handed the card and two hundred thousand dollars was charged from it with no drama as Arthur had wanted.

Everyone was stunned!

Some admired him now while Arthur and his friend hated him more.

“I can't believe Jake just paid that bill like it was nothing. Where'd he get all that money from?"

"Yeah, it's suspicious. He's been broke this whole time, and now suddenly he's flashing cash?"

"I bet he stole it. There's no way he could afford all that." Arthur said loud enough for everyone to hear.

“How dare you say such things? Jake is a very disciplined fellow and he does not steal.”

“You are defending him because he is your friend. You just watch and see him get arrested soon.”

"Jake, where did you get all that cash from?" Saint asked.

"Yeah, We know you didn't steal it, but seriously we need to know."

Jake flashing a wry smile and decided to calm his friends down. “Well, guys, believe it or not, I won the lottery." He said. He wasn't ready to tell them the truth yet.

“OMG! Are you serious about this?”

“Yes”

“How much did you win?”

“Three hundred thousand dollars.” Jake said.

“And you used two hundred thousand dollars from it already? You shouldn't have, you know you need money so much.”

“Don't worry guys…”

Just then, Katy came over to where Jake was seated. “You surprised us today, Jake.” she said and sat beside him.

“Oh really?” Jake asked.

“Yea… Hey, Jake! Can I add you as a friend on social media?"

"Sure, that sounds great." Jake replied and gave his social media handle.

"Thanks! Also, don't forget to come to my birthday party tomorrow night." She said and left happily with her friends.

"I'll be there. Thanks for inviting me.” Jake said after her and left with his friends too.

When Melissa saw this, she stomped angrily towards the restroom, with Daisy and Samantha following closely behind.

Meanwhile, in the restroom, Melissa, Samantha and Daisy were chatting. As they stepped out, a gangster started flirting with her.

Annoyed, she and her friends didn't hesitate to put him in his place, and the gangster ended up getting beaten by the three of them.

How may I help you please? He was greeted by an intern.“Hi,” he said brightly and flashed her a smile. “I need help in picking out some suits for a masquerade ball.”“Oh that is really nice, so would you like a dark-themed suit, something within the lines of midnight black and maroon?”“Yes, exactly. That would be just perfect.”They heard a sudden burst of laughter and both raised their heads up to look but they could not seem to find the source of the humor.“Please ignore them.” the intern told him in a nice low voice, she
