MICHAEL'S POV

I rushed through the hospital corridors alongside my grandfather's stretcher, my heart pounding as the medical team worked frantically to stabilize him. The emergency room was a blur of urgent voices and medical equipment as they wheeled him into surgery.

"Sir, you'll need to wait outside," one of the nurses told me firmly. "The doctors will update you as soon as they have news."

I found myself pacing the sterile hospital corridor, my mind racing between worry for my grandfather and the terrifying reality that Isaac Sterling was now free and hunting our family. The weight of everything I'd learned tonight was crushing—my true identity, my inheritance, and the deadly enemy who wanted to destroy us all.

As I continued pacing, I remembered that my adoptive mother was also a patient in this same hospital. The thought of seeing her, of having some connection to the simpler life I'd known before tonight's revelations, drew me toward the patient information desk.

"Excuse me," I

MICHAEL'S POVDerek stood frozen for a moment, staring at his defeated thugs scattered across the marble floor. The realization that his hired muscle had been completely useless against me was written all over his face. But instead of retreating or admitting defeat, Derek's desperation made him even more dangerous."You think you've won?" Derek snarled, his voice shaking with rage and humiliation. Before I could react, he lunged toward Sarah, who was still standing near the staircase in shock. In one swift motion, he grabbed her arm and pulled her in front of him like a human shield."Derek, let me go!" Sarah screamed, struggling against his grip."Stay back!" Derek shouted at me, wrapping his arm around Sarah's throat. "Don't come any closer, or I'll hurt her!""Let her go, Derek," I said, keeping my voice calm despite the fury building inside me. "This is between you and me.""Oh, this is perfect," Derek said with a twisted smile. "The great Michael Thompson, completely helpless bec

MICHAEL'S POVThe fury building inside me reached a breaking point as I listened to the Fletcher family's accusations. "Why are you blaming me for Derek's madness?" I demanded, gesturing at the destruction around us. "He's the one who brought thugs into your home! He's the one who destroyed your property!""Because you provoked him!" Elena shrieked back. "You humiliated him at the Mayor's event!""You embarrassed him in front of the entire city's elite!" Robert added angrily. "What did you expect would happen?""We told you to just apologize and give him back his car," Tina said with venom. "But no, you had to be stubborn and prideful!"Derek was watching this family meltdown with obvious satisfaction. "See, Michael? Even your own wife's family knows you're the problem here."He stepped closer to me, his voice taking on a commanding tone. "Now, I want you to kneel down and beg me for forgiveness, just like I was forced to do by the Mayor.""That will never happen," I replied firmly."

MICHAEL'S POVI burst through the front door of the Fletcher mansion just as one of Derek's thugs raised his boot above the head of the family's main security guard, who was lying unconscious and bloodied on the marble floor."STOP!" I roared, my voice echoing through the destroyed foyer. All five thugs immediately turned toward me, their faces twisted with cruel anticipation. They were massive men, clearly hired muscle with scars and tattoos that spoke of violence as a profession."Well, well, look who finally decided to show up," the largest thug said, cracking his knuckles menacingly. "How dare you interrupt our work, pretty boy?""Yeah," another one added, rolling his shoulders like a boxer preparing for a fight. "We were just getting warmed up with these bodyguards.""Boss said you might try to play hero," a third thug laughed. "This is gonna be fun."That's when I heard Derek's voice from the second floor, followed by the sound of something heavy crashing down the stairs. My lap

MICHAEL'S POVAs I held my grandfather's bleeding form in my arms, waiting desperately for the ambulance to arrive, I heard heavy footsteps approaching from the direction the bodyguard had gone."Sir!" the bodyguard called out as he rushed back into the study, slightly out of breath from his pursuit."Did you catch whoever did this?" I asked urgently, still applying pressure to my grandfather's wound."No, sir, but I found something important," the bodyguard replied grimly, holding up a piece of white paper between his gloved fingers."What is it?" I demanded. The bodyguard handed me the paper carefully. "This was pinned to a tree about fifty yards from where the shot was fired."I took the paper with my free hand and read the message written in neat, almost childish handwriting: "I will make your life miserable, daddy!" At the bottom was a crude smiley face emoji drawn in black ink.My blood ran cold as the implications hit me."What... what does it say?" my grandfather asked weakly,

MICHAEL'S POVI stared at my grandfather in complete shock, struggling to process what he'd just revealed. "Isaac? You said Rafael before. Who is Isaac?"My grandfather's expression grew even more pained as he corrected himself. "I'm sorry, Michael. Isaac is his real name—Isaac Sterling. Rafael was just the name he used in his business dealings to distance himself from the family.""Isaac Sterling," I repeated slowly, the name feeling foreign and dangerous on my tongue."Yes," my grandfather confirmed. "Isaac is my eldest son. I had him with a woman I loved deeply before I married your grandmother."I felt my world shift again as another piece of the puzzle fell into place. "So Isaac is your firstborn son?""That's correct," my grandfather said heavily. "When I became successful—filthy rich, as you put it—I fell in love with your grandmother and married her. Isaac's mother felt betrayed, abandoned.""What happened to them?""I provided for them financially, of course," my grandfather
