Chapter 4: Unstable

“You did what?!!!” A man with white hair asked, veins visible on his face as he glared at Kain sitting pitifully across him.

Kain had told his father, Sir. Ivan Merrill of his deal with the Lincolnshire son-in-law and he was not amused. His son losing to that person was shameful but him agreeing to hand over 70% of their family business over to Leona, that was a step the Lincolnshire Family dared to take and he was ready for war.

“Did you get attacked by the Lincolnshire Family?”  Ivan asked for the umpteenth time that night.

Kain shook his head, tears running down his face as he looked at his lap. His hands balled into fists. “No father… it was that Son-in-law, he was a demon possessed.”

Ivan held his chin and released a soft hum. That was truly disturbing, perhaps the Lincolnshire lied about their son-in-law not possessing any aptitude in alchemy or mana but for a single individual to stop seven more Class 1 alchemist single-handedly something not even he can do it.

“You are dismissed.” Ivan informed Kain.

Kain scrambled to his feet and darted out of the office before his father could change his mind. His brows furrowed and hate brewed in his heart.

Ivan slumped into his chair, his shoulders slumped in defeat. He pressed his fingers against his nerves soothing them as they were starting to get strained.

“What am I going to do with all this mess.”

“Well you can start by refusing to give that wretched abomination your company.”

Ivan's eyes widened as he heard the intruding voice, he immediately got to his feet and his hand glowed as a transmutation circle manifested.  “Who are you?”

“I, my friend, am you ally. I can help you out of this tricky situation but at a cost.”

Ivan's hand ignited as flames burned from his finger tips while not harming him as he kept a steady flow of energy to the transmutation circle to make the flame less potent on his fingers. “If you don't know yourself this instant I'm going to find you.”

The voice chuckled, a hint of madness lingering in its chuckle. “You won't find me unless I reveal myself to you but I'm here to negotiate, I'm not here to fight.” Bats appeared out of nowhere and they converged at the pivot of the office a few feet away from Ivan.

When they cleared, a man with long gray hair and dark gray eyes stood there, he had stitches crossing every inch of his body and wore a white suit with a red rose tucked into the suit's pocket.

“Who are you?” Ivan slightly lowered his hand and decreased the input of energy he was feeding the transmutation circle on his hand, depowering the flames a bit but not completely extinguishing them.

“My name is Deasvult, before you ask why I am here, I'm here to offer a solution to your problem.”

“How do I know I can trust you?”

Deasvult grinned and sat down on the chair across the table. His gray eyes sparkling with mischief. “I'm your ally in all of this, the person you are going up against isn't a person that you can defeat.”

Ivan extinguished the flames and sat down, his eyes still narrowed as he stared skeptically at Deasvult. “What do you mean I can't defeat him.”

“Let me make it this way, he's one of the most powerful people in the world far exceeding even you and your family disguised as a Son-in-law, if you don't want to lose your business trust me on this,”

“If I do trust you, what's in it for you?”

“Nothing, I'm just lacking some amusement. Relocating from the main lands to here left a sense of boredom so I overheard about the drama at Emerich's party and I thought it would be fun to spectate.”

“I see, then what I am supposed to do?”

“That… is very simple, you have to do this.”

             ****

In the Lincolnshire Family home, the children and grandchildren of Madame Lincolnshire were gathered in the room where she was sitting. In her hand, was a piece of paper and it was scrunched up, the wrinkles on her face more prominent as she thought about what was written on the letter.

Mira glanced at her grandmother and walked up to her. “Grandmother, what could be the problem? You aren't the type to wake us up this late.”

Madame Lincolnshire glared at the newest head of their family business, the corners of her mouth creased downward and she handed Mira the scrunched up letter.

Mira took the paper and opened it, her eyes scanned the letter and its content, her eyes widened slightly as she kept reading the letter and at the end of it, they were wide as saucers. She was astounded by the letter, she couldn't keep her lips shut. “What do they mean they want Leona to represent us!”

Her outburst drew the attention of the others who looked at her in confusion.

Julia heard her daughter's name being mentioned and worry gripped her heart, she couldn't go to the hospital to check on her after Sebastian took her there because of her mother prohibiting her from following them.

“What did my daughter do?”

Mira turned on her heel and glared daggers at Julia, her eyes burning with intense hatred. “What she did!? She put the family business at risk. Renegade Corps terminated the contract we have with them because of her! And her pitiful husband making a media mockery of our family.”

Julia's face twisted as she stared at Mira; despair written all over her face. “That can't be…”

“Well it can be and it happened! That's why your husband left you, you and your daughter are nothing but trouble and omens, you bring bad luck to this family.”

“Mira that's enough!” Madame Lincolnshire warned the young girl who quieted down from the command.

Julia's head dropped and she stared at her feet, what Mira had said stung, she felt as if her heart was stabbed with blades, every word sharp as a knife tearing through her heart mercilessly. In all her siblings, only she had her husband walk out on them when Leona was just a baby, and ever since she was not treated the same. She could see the treatment from her mother down to her nieces and she didn't say anything about it.

But now, Mira was putting it out for everyone to know.

With quivering lips, Julia breathed in deeply and raised her head, she bit her lips trying to stop the stinging sensation in her eyeballs to generate rivulets of water; she didn't want them to see her cry. That was the satisfaction she was never going to give them.

“Can I be excused?” Julia asked as she turned around to leave.

She didn't wait for approval from her mother, she just wanted to be gone from there. Her chest felt heavy, her breathing changed as she took deep breaths attempting to ease the pain and suffocation she felt. Once outside, the weight on her shoulders lifted and her nostrils opened up, she breathed in the night air and the image of her daughter bleeding flashed in her mind.

Julia took out her phone and scrolled to the number she never thought she could call. She pressed them and placed the phone on her ear.

“Hello?” A male voice answered as the call was picked up.

Julia breathed in again and then out. “Hello Sebastian.”

“Mother-in-law, what can I do for you?”

“I wanted to know where Leona is.”

“She's at the hospital”.

“Which one?”

“The Saint Valerie Hospital.”

Julia's eyes widened again that night. She paused to process what Sebastian had told her, Saint Valerie was the most expensive hospital in Lycoris City.

“Why did you take her there? Do you know how expensive that hospital is?”

“You worry too much. You can go check up on her, tell the desk who you are and you won't have a problem entering.”

Julia's mouth gaped, he was nonchalantly dismissing her worries, she knew at the rate everything was progressing, her mother wouldn't spare them $50,000 if there was surgery that was needed. And she didn't have that much on her, Leon's accounts were frozen by Mira after she got the mantle as CEO.

Julia rubbed the sides of her head, Sebastian… he was a trouble maker for her. He always gave her headaches with his actions. She took the suggestion Sebastian gave her and took a cab to the hospital.

               ***

Two SUVs trailed the Cab after Julia got in. The drivers inside the two cars communicated through the phone and gave each other instructions on how to proceed with their operation; the knew if they failed, Deasvult was going to send them back to the underworld.

The first SUV accelerated ahead of the taxi and decreased making the Taxi driver drive the car with the SUV pace. The driver of the taxi hit the horn, honking at the SUV.

“Is something wrong?” Julia asked from the backseat as she looked over the Taxi windscreen.

“This car!” The driver answered through gritted teeth as he tried to maneuver over to the incoming lane but couldn't as the second SUV blocked his path.

Julia held onto the car seat as the taxi swayed left and right with the two SUVs trying to sandwich it between the two of them.

The taxi driver slammed on the brakes getting room to maneuver as the two SUVs shot past the taxi. He turned the taxi to the left and took the road without street lights, the dark road was lit by the headlights of the taxi and the car was about to relax after escaping that encounter when he saw a shadow standing in the road.

His eyes widened as he tried to slam on the brakes but with the taxi going at above 100km/h instant braking was nigh impossible.

Deasvult grinned as he saw the taxi screeching toward him. He raised his hand before him, unfolded his hand and grabbed the taxi by the front, with a flick of his hand he raised the taxi above him and threw it behind him sending it crushing into the road behind him.

“That was easy.”

Julia screamed as the car crashed on the road, rolling a bit and it stopped. She coughed as she looked out of the shattered windows, glass in her face. She was bleeding from the forehead and had smaller cuts on her hands and forearm.

A gleam of terror flashed in her eyes as she looked at the approaching shoes, she wiggled her body trying to escape the clutches of the seat but couldn't.

Deasvult grabbed the door and tore it from the car, he reached into the car and retrieved Julia who was kicking attempting to get his grasp to loosen up. He changed the way he was holding her, from holding her by her hair to choking her, suspending Julia a few inches above the ground.

Deasvult's eye glowed green as the nails on uis fingers turned into claws, digging into the neck of Julia. He grinned seeing the blood from her neck trail down his white suit sleeve staining permanent red.

“That look of terror doesn't compliment your beauty you know that?”

Julia held onto Deasvult's hand with both of hers digging her fingers into his hand in hopes of loosening the grip he had on her throat.

“Who are… you.”

“My name is Deasvult. That's all you need to know.”

Julia smirked a bloody smirk. “Does Orion know that you… are trespassing in another Lord's lands? Harming his people?”

Deasvult's demeanor faltered as Julia said that, as soon as the condescending attitude he had drop it quickly returned and he tightened the grip even harder.

“Don't you dare mention that name as if you know him.”

“from your reaction I'm assuming he… doesn't know what you are doing.”

“Insufferable woman, if you weren't needed for my plan I would've ripped your throat off.” Deasvult's glowing eyes bore into Julia's and she fell unconscious.

He spat on the road, the interaction with the woman was rather vexing to him. He needed to let some steam out, the thought of facing the Sixth Lord made him grin, facing the strongest vampire to ever exist was something to look forward to, but first he wanted to make it known to Sebastian that he was in control now.

Deasvult reached into Julia's purse and took out her phone, he easily overrided the security feature that stopped him from using the phone and made a call to Saint Valerie Hospital, he altered his tone when the reception answered to match Julia's voice and requested to speak with Leona.

Leona had woken up when the reception knocked on her door, she gave permission for the receptionist to enter and was handed the phone. She looked at the phone for a second then placed it on her ear.

“Hello?”

“It's about time you answered, I was starting to think you didn't want to talk.”

“Who are you?”

“Who am I doesn't concern you, what you need to worry about is your mother here.”

Leon's eyes widened when her mother was mentioned, she took a short pause, trying to come up with scenarios of what happened; she also wanted to know, why her mother was out this late at night.

“If it's money you want I will organize everything for you please don't hurt her!”

“Too late for that, she's not dead just unconscious but she does have wounds - -”

Leon's heart sank when she heard that, she was about to talk when the voice on the line spoke yet again..

“I don't want your money, but there's something that I want. Something only you can provide for me.”

“Anything, I'll do anything you say just don't harm my mother.”

“ The game is no fun when you beg like that but anyways, tell your husband to meet me at the old factories near the Harbour in an hour and tell him to drink before he comes because he's gonna need it.”

The line cut and Leona wasted no time contacting Sebastian, she relayed the information she received from the caller with difficulty as her sobs interfered with her speech.

                  ****

Sebastian groaned as he got to the destination, he looked at his watch and groaned again, it was only a few minutes before midnight and his sleep was cut in half for whatever God knows, but there was something about Leona crying that made him see red.

“Color me surprised, I didn't think you'd come Sixth Lord!” Deasvult manifested ontop of one of the electric poles in a myriads of bats.

Sebastian glared at Deasvult, his eyes flashing red. “I'm assuming you are the one who took my Mother-in-law?”

“Perhaps,”

“I'm not in the mood for games, you made Leona cry… for that you will pay.”

Deasvult laughed at the threat. He placed his hand over his mouth and a blush shaded his pale cheeks. “Isn't that something, the Sixth Lord, making threats. Even if you are considered to be a planetary Anomaly you are still inexperienced when it comes to handling the strength you've been given.”

“Tch! Stop wasting my time, bring her back and we won't have any issues.”

“I'm shaking in my boots however, I'm not the person you are supposed to be meeting, well atleast not right this instant. Goodluck!” Deasvult disappeared leaving Sebastian standing there with a pissed look on his face.

“Kon!”

Sebastian had to dodge as his instincts flared crazy. A huge rabbit head with crimson eyes and a rod protruding from its nostril bit the air he was standing on, biting away a sizeable potion of the building next to where he was standing.

Sebastian landed on the fence and looked at the direction the voice came from and his lips fell into a straight line.

In his line of sight stood a blue haired girl, with dead blue eyes, wearing a white coat. Behind the girl was an elder man with wrinkles on his face; the man had faded blond hair, Grey eyes hidden by black squared glasses.

“You missed.” The elder of the two informed the girl.

“I won't miss this time.” The young girl replied in a flat tone, she shifted her eyes to Sebastian who was standing on the fence.

Another rabbit head shot from underneath him, forcing Sebastian to dodge from the fence and relocate to the water tank a few meters away. He looked at the duo and held his chin.

“I see, she's the heavy hitter of the two, she takes orders from him.”  Sebastian analyzed the two humming to himself. He shifted his attention to the man behind the girl, that was his target.

His blood seeped out of his pores and covered every inch of his body. “Rashoumon.” He said to himself as the blood took form of the familiar he used earlier.

“I don't know what your deal is, but… I'm getting her back.” Sebastian leaped from the water tank. Rashoumon extending in all angles and the heads grabbed the pillars surrounding him.

Sebastian threw the pillars at the two trying to pin them down, however, the two dodged to the side as the pillars stabbed through the ground. The young girl stared at Sebastian in mid air and the rabbit appeared from beneath him, its teeth out ready to clamp down on Sebastian.

Shit!

Sebastian thought as he braced for impact. Rashoumon extended creating two harns that held the mouth of the rabbit from closing. Sebastian gritted his teeth, having not anticipated the strength the rabbit could possess. It was fighting against Rashoumon, and Rashoumon's specialty was not working. In the power struggle, Sebastian did try to nullify the force of the bite from the rabbit but it didn't work.

Shaping Rashoumon to be a spear, Sebastian threw the spear  through the rabbit's mouth, blood shot from the rabbit and stained him. He licked the blood from his face and his fangs elongated, and his eyes glowed crimson.

A wave of crimson energy shot from his body and lightning began striking the metallic structures and the electric lines setting the abandoned industrial site alight starting a fire. The sirens around the city started to ring as an F3 tornado warning and a huge thunderstorm notice was issued to all of the people in the island.

The energy around Sebastian turned into a thunder tornado and a black orb fell from the heavens, it struck the land and a tiger with white mane, a body made from electricity was visible. It roared to the top of its lungs, sending random lightning strikes, across the battlefield.

“Rashoumon!” Sebastian's voice came from the thunder tornado and it dispersed as the cloak around Sebastian shot out of it, the tips becoming spears ready to impale the two who were dodging the attacks from the tiger.

Sebastian locked eyes with Kaien and he nodded, and the tiger roared in resonance and lightning struck from the heavens, closing the distance between it and the two dodging the bombardment of attacks.

“let's go, we have gotten what we wanted.” The old man said as he and the little girl disappeared.

Sebastian skewered and electrocuted everything in its path. His eyes danced around the  the facilities trying to find the attackers.

“Are you trying to kill everyone on the island?” A voice caught Sebastian's attention.

Sebastian turned to see the owner and he saw a woman with short auburn hair, silver eyes wearing a maid uniform. In her hands was a silver, lance twice her size.

“Oh Sixth Lord Of Chaos, may your rampaging reign cease her as I, the crimson moon of the spear command the heavenly force of rejection, I punish you for your wrong doings, Inquisio.” She yelled to the top of lungs, the lance she had in her hand glowed and several layers of blue runes appeared on the tip, extending outward into the atmosphere and it resonated sending blue energy across the City omnidirectionally dispersing the thunder clouds.

The wave also hit the tiger forcing it to disperse reducing the lightning strikes, it proceeded to strike the overly active Sebastian knocking him out undoing the effects of his power.

She watched as Sebastian fell on the ground unconscious and jumped to his side.

“You are one hell of a trouble maker you know that Sixth Lord.”
