Johnson slowly stepped down from the taxi and stared at the massive Clifford mansion before him.

Pain still spread through his body from the surgery, but he ignored it completely as his eyes scanned the compound.

Almost immediately, a deep frown appeared on his face.

The mansion looked strangely empty.

Usually, the compound was always busy with guards, maids, expensive cars, and gardeners moving around. But today, the place looked unusually quiet.

Johnson frowned deeply.

“Where is everyone?” he muttered softly.

He slowly began walking toward the gate when suddenly, the family’s butler rushed out of the mansion in a hurry. The middle-aged man carried a black jewelry box tightly in his hands while heading toward a standby taxi parked nearby.

Johnson immediately called out to him.

“Wait!”

The butler stopped abruptly and turned around.

The moment he saw Johnson, his eyes widened in surprise.

“Mr. Johnson?” he said in shock.

Johnson slowly approached him.

“What is going on?” he asked in confusion. “Why does the house seem so deserted?”

The butler blinked repeatedly.

“Sir… are you not aware that the event has already started?”

Johnson frowned immediately.

“Event?”

“Yes sir,” the butler replied hurriedly. “Even Madam Clifford asked me to quickly bring these jewelry boxes to BAC Event Center where the event is taking place.”

Johnson’s confusion deepened instantly.

“BAC Event Center?” he repeated slowly.

The butler nodded quickly.

“Yes sir. Everyone already left long ago.”

Johnson stared at him blankly.

“What event are you talking abou—”

But before he could finish speaking, the butler suddenly glanced at his wristwatch and panicked.

“Oh no! I am running late! I don’t want to get in trouble with Madam”

Without waiting for another second, the butler hurriedly entered the taxi.

“Driver, move quickly!” he ordered.

“Wait!” Johnson called again.

But the taxi had already sped away.

Johnson remained standing there motionlessly while staring at the departing vehicle.

His mind was completely confused.

“BAC Event Center… What is going on there?” he murmured softly.

Johnson stood there silently for a few moments before finally snapping out of his thoughts.

“If Bethany is there, then I have to go” he said firmly.

Johnson boarded another cab to BAC event center. A few minutes later the car came to a stop.

“We are here, sir,” the driver said.

Johnson slowly paid the fare before stepping out of the taxi carefully.

He was standing in front of a giant building with tall pillars and marbled walls. BAC Event Center looked magnificent beyond words.

Golden lights decorated the massive building beautifully while luxury cars filled the entire parking lot outside.

Rolls Royces.

Bentleys.

Ferraris.

Johnson swallowed hard.

“What kind of event is this?” he wondered quietly.

As he walked closer, voices from nearby guests began entering his ears.

“This wedding is unbelievable!”

“I have never seen something this grand before!”

“The decorations alone must cost millions!”

Johnson’s steps slowly reduced.

“Wedding?”

Then his ears caught another particular conversation between two richly dressed men nearby.

“This is definitely the grandest wedding I have seen in my life,” the first man said admiringly.

The second man chuckled lightly.

“Well, what do you expect? This is a wedding between the Anderson and Clifford families.”

The moment Johnson heard “Clifford family,” his entire body froze instantly.

“…Clifford?” he whispered in confusion.

As far as Johnson knew, Bethany was the only child of the Clifford family She had no brother or sister.

And she was already married to him.

Then who exactly was getting married?

Only one way to find out…

Slowly, Johnson forced himself toward the giant entrance doors.

“No matter what,” he muttered painfully, “I need to see this myself.”

With trembling hands, he pushed the doors open and entered the hall.

The luxurious hall glittered brilliantly under golden lights. Hundreds of wealthy guests filled the seats while expensive flowers decorated every corner beautifully.

At the center of the hall stood a giant wedding stage.

A beautiful bride stood on the stage wearing a dazzling white wedding gown beside a tall handsome man dressed in an expensive black suit.

The priest smiled brightly while looking at both of them.

“You may now kiss your bride.”

When Johnson’s eyes laid on the bride, he froze.

His entire world began spinning violently around him. His legs nearly gave out beneath him.

“Bethany…” he whispered shakily.
