Silas walked into the sitting room. He sees Mr. Alex and Mrs. Alex was sitting on a couch. Mrs. Alex stands up and hugs Silas. “You look handsome in your clothes, darling son,” Mrs. Alex said.
“Thank you, mum.” “What’s up, dad?”
“I’m good, man. I can see you are dressed up already,” Mr. Alex said with a smile.
“Yes, dad. I don’t want to be late for the office. You know I am starting work for the first time.”
“I’m happy you are still punctual,” Mr. Alex said and stood up from the couch. He hugs Mrs. Alex and says, “Take good care of the home.”
“Yes, I will.” “Silas, I hope you will have a good day in your office.”
“I will, mum.”
Mr. Alex clutches his briefcase and follows Silas at the back.
When they get outside, they walk in the direction of the sedan. They enter the sedan and drive the sedan away.
At exactly 8:12 am, Mr. Alex parks the sedan in front of a skyscraper. Mr. Alex clutches his briefcase and they alight from the sedan.
Silas is so shocked because of the beauty of the skyscraper. He keeps gazing at the inscription on top of the building. The inscription reads: Lakeside Telecommunication Company.
Mr. Alex notices that his son is carried away in his thoughts. He says, “I know you are surprised.” “Let’s go and check inside.” Mr. Alex pats Alex on the back.
The twosome walked in the direction of the glass door. As soon as they get closer to the door, the door goes open.
“Good morning, CEO,” a man said and collected Mr. Alex briefcase. Mr. Alex pats him on the back before he leaves, clutching the black briefcase.
In the afternoon, everyone gathers inside a large room. This room is so large and beautiful. It is well-furnished and well-ventilated. The room has many pictures hanging on the green-painted walls. Some of the pictures are: the picture of Mr. Alex, the picture of the president of the USA and the pictures of some dignitaries and men of high caliber.
“Good afternoon, my staff…” Mr. Alex said, regarding the staff in black suits.
“Good afternoon, CEO!” the staff chorused.
“I thank you all for your support of the smooth running of this parastatal. I pray God reward you,” Mr. Alex said and halted his speech.
“I am 65 years old now and I want to hand over my company to my son.” “Here he is.” Mr. Alex points to Silas.
Everyone is surprised. Mr. Alex hadn’t told them before that he had an heir to his estate.
“How sure are we that he is your son?” the shortest man said.
“Calm down, Mr. Milo. My barrister is here to help me out,” Mr. Alex said with a smile.
A man, who is sitting between Silas and a pulchritudinous lady, stands up. He coughs and says, “Good afternoon, everyone. My name is barrister Jacob. I am a friend to Mr. Alex. I handled the disownment of Silas about six years ago. The document is here. You can come and have a gaze at it later in the day. There was a clash between father and son which led to disownment…”
“You mean, this man sitting beside you is the CEO's son?” a man with a beard said.
“Yeah. I am glad you got my point,” barrister Jacob said. He handles some documents to Mr. Alex before he sits down.
Mr. Alex stands up and moves closer to Silas. “With me are the documents of the company,” Mr. Alex said and gave the documents to Silas. “I hereby make my son the CEO of Lakeside Telecommunication Company from now onwards,” Mr. Alex said and everyone clapped.
Silas stands up from the chair exuberantly. He addressed the staff. “My name is Alex Silas. I am the prodigal son of Mr. Alex. Dad told me yesterday that he would give me a job. I never believed I could be made the CEO of one of his companies. Thank you, dad…”
“We want to know more about you, the prodigal son,” Mr. Milo teased and everyone laughed.
“I won’t take sure bullshit from you, Mr. Milo.” “I am a husband to a wife and a father to a son. I've lost my son though.”
“We are sorry for that, sir,” some of the staff chorused.
“Thank you very much.” “I studied business administration at Rice university and I graduated as a first class student.”
“He is witty and prodigal after all…,” Milo said, and everyone laughed.
“I think I like Mr. Milo. Can I find out more about you?” Silas said with a smile and sat down.
Milo stands up. He bows and says, “Mr. Silas, thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak in the midst of noble men and men with good profiles.” “My name is Mr. Milo. I studied Cyber security at Harvard university. I am in charge of selling laptops and computer systems.”
“Do you have a wife?”
“Yes, Mr. Silas. I have two wives and five lions because of my promiscuity.”
“Five lions?”
“Yeah. I mean five sons,” Milo said with a smile.
“I got that,” Silas said. Silas allows three more people to introduce themselves and says, “Thank you all for your time. In the course of working here, I will know everyone.”
At exactly 3:03 pm, Mr. Alex parks his car in front of his mansion. He alights from the car alongside his son.
“Welcome master and young master…,” Luis said with a smile.
“Luis, when will you stop being chucklesome?” Mr. Alex said.
Luis collects the black briefcase from Mr. Alex. He follows father and son as they walk in the direction of the door.
Mrs. Alex drops her mugful of coffee on the floor as soon as she sees Silas. “The two CEOs are back!” Mrs. Alex screamed and hugged Silas.
“Mum, are you aware that I am the CEO?”
“Yes, of course. I pleaded with your father on your behalf…”
“Mrs. Alex, your son needs rest.” Mr. Alex frowned.
“That’s not my schedule, Mr. Alex. I will eat my lunch first,” Silas said, and everyone laughed.
“Then you can stay with your mummy, mum's pet…” “I am off to the bedroom,” Mr. Alex said and walked away.
“How is work today?”
“It went well, mum…”
“That’s good to hear, CEO.”
“You are teasing me already.”
“No, I am not. It calls for celebration, son.”
“Yes, mum!” Silas screamed happily and his phone rang. He checks his phone’s screen. It’s Rachael calling him.
