Chapter 4

"What happened, Gina? I have a very important conference call coming up," Dana said, frowning.

"It's your ex-husband! He just got divorced from you, and now he's already at a bar drinking with another woman! And guess what? He even got into a conflict with the Los Lobos gang!" Gina said excitedly, her face full of gossip.

"What did you say?!" Dana was furious. That bastard Ethan! He had the audacity to go drinking with another woman right after divorcing her?

And he had the nerve to accuse her of cheating? He must have been secretly fooling around with other women long before this!

And Los Lobos—he actually dared to pick a fight with those ruthless thugs?

"So, what happened? Did they beat him to a pulp?" Dana asked, a hint of happy in her tone. She hoped her useless ex-husband could be beaten badly by gangsters.

"Not at all! Your useless ex-husband can actually fight pretty well. Then, he made a call to the Los Lobos boss, and after that, they all kneeled down and apologized to him!" Gina said, still in shock.

"What?! Impossible!" Dana was equally stunned. Her useless ex-husband had the power to make gang members kneel and apologize?

No, something wasn’t right!

Dana suddenly recalled an event from a few months ago—a business gala where she had crossed paths with Antonio, the boss of Los Lobos. Ethan had been there too.

Could he have made a connection with Antonio back then and was now using it to trick the Los Lobos gang?

If that was the case, then he had just landed himself in huge trouble!

Dana's face darkened. She hung up the phone and returned to the conference room.

She had an important meeting to attend—but once it was over, it would be time to confront Ethan!

Meanwhile, Rosanna and Ethan stepped out of the bar. As the cold wind blew against her, Rosanna realized she might have had a bit too much to drink. She felt unsteady on her feet.

"Be careful," Ethan said.

"I'll try, but I can barely walk on my own," she said, causing Ethan to hold her hand, trying to get her to be stable.

"Please, can you take me to my hotel? I don't think I can spend another second here," she informed.

Ethan nodded and held her hand, taking her out of the pub.

Ethan and Rosanna got to the hotel, and as they climbed out of the elevator and walked towards her room door, Rosanna paused.

"What's the matter? Do you need me to carry you?" Ethan asked, and she nodded.

Without hesitation, he picked her up from the floor and carried her towards her hotel room. Rosanna couldn't stop grinning.

"I think I drank too much at the pub. It's affecting me now, and I might get a bad hangover by morning," she complained, taking her hand up to her head.

"Don't worry. I'm sure this hotel would have drugs for hangovers," Ethan assured.

"Most of those kinds of drugs don't work," she said, thinking of a way to make Ethan stay with her.

"There's this tea that I've heard of. It's mostly made for people with hangovers in the morning when they wake up," she informed, hoping that he would be a gentleman and offer to stay.

"Yeah, I know it," Ethan muttered.

"Ethan..." Rosanna called, seeing that he spaced out as a result of the amount of alcohol he had taken at the pub.

"Hmmm" He answered.

"We are at my room door," She informed causing Ethan to look up at the number on the door before asking, "The keys,"

Rosanna fumbled for them in her bag before handing it to him,

He opened the door and took her hand but she didn't move, rather she placed her other hand on his shoulder and quickly placed her lips on his.

Ethan hesitated to kiss back but it was only for a second. They kissed passionately, moving into the room, not caring whether the door was properly locked or not.

Ethan immediately lost his sense of rationality and his hand fell on the zip at the back of her dress.

Rosanna was high on the alcohol and was enjoying every bit of the kiss. Back at the pub when Ethan abruptly informed her of his inability to help her, she thought that he was only being rigid and stubborn because he wanted something in return and that something would probably be her body.

She concluded that if giving him what he wanted, her body, meant not having to marry Ferdinand for his wealth, then it was worth it.

She placed her on his belt, helping him take if off before unzipping his trousers, she locked eyes with him and slowly went on her knees.

Ring. Ring.

The buzzing sound of Ethan's phone immediately distracted them, hoping that Ethan would ignore the call but unfortunately, Ethan took his phone and found that the call was from Dana.

Ethan took a step back and zipped his trousers, swallowing hard before answering the call.

"Hel...."

"You scumbag! You promised not to tell people that you were my husband didn't you? Why then did you use my name to ward off the Mafia that was about to deal with you?" Dana roared over the phone causing Ethan to arch his brows, confused.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"You think I don't know what you did there? You must have used my name to make him afraid of you because there's no way anyone in their right mind would respect a scumbag like you!" She hissed. Ethan shook his head in disbelief.

"You're quiet? You're wondering how I know, aren't you? There's no way you have the power to make a Mafia go on his knees; I'm sure the call was just an act. If the Mafia knows that we are divorced, I'm certain he'll come looking for your head," she grimaced.

"There's nothing to be feared in your name, Dana; you call me a scumbag, but yet you fail to remember that you were married to this scumbag. Don't disturb my quality time with your call again," he said coldly before ending the call.

Unfortunately, the burning desire to get in bed with Roseanna had subsided.

She tried to kiss Ethan again, picking up from where they left off, but Ethan was no longer in the mood. He stopped her, saying, "You're drunk, Rosanna. Your eyes are tired, and you should rest."

Ethan turned around, ready to leave.

"Wait a second, Ethan!" Rosanna suddenly said.

"Hmm? What's wrong?"

"Tomorrow... Secret Corporation is hosting a business gala. I really want to attend… Would you…"

Rosanna hesitated, feeling a bit embarrassed. The dynamic between them had been strange just moments ago.

Now, asking him this—no matter how she put it—felt like she was trying to use seduction to gain some kind of advantage.

Ethan glanced at her and suddenly chuckled.

"Alright, I'll make the arrangements. Get some rest."

"Really? Then… could you come with me?" Rosanna asked excitedly.

"This… alright." Ethan looked at the woman in front of him and nodded.

After all, his actions earlier had been a bit out of line. Even if alcohol played a part, he couldn’t just take advantage and walk away.

"I'll be on my way now," he informed, feeling embarrassed and disappointed that he had let the alcohol take control of his mind.

"And I'll inform one of the workers to bring the hangover meditations for you," he added before walking out of the room.

Rosanna's face soon turned red, her heart raced as she thought of what happened some minutes ago.

I was really stressed yesterday," she said.Meanwhile, Ethan sat at the table, eating his food quietly. "I'm certain you made these noodles, Rosanna. The aroma is divine," Belen said, salivating."I remember when you used to make this at home," he added, still salivating."Yeah, and you would criticize it." "You and Grandma," Rosanna uttered, causing Belen's eyes to immediately widen as he stood upright. He didn't want Ethan to bar him from benefits he could receive because of how he used to treat Rosanna, so he tried to cover it up with a laugh."That was only because we wanted you to get better at cooking it, and I'm glad you did. If it wasn't for our criticism, if anything was too much, I'm sure the carrots would be more than the meat, but look how generous you were with the protein." If it was Cersei, he would have walked away, but he was trying to stay calm and to at least hear her out before leaving politely."That's not for you to decide. Let the doctor decide it. Besides, I'm fine, Rosanna. You're only overthinking for nothing," he said, getting to his feet.Rosanna subconsciously stepped back, feeling his intimidating aura again. "I have a flight to catch by 7am, and I really don't want to be late. I'll call you as soon as I arrive in the country."Rosanna was stunned; his words seemed like a bullet because travelling amid all this drama didn't really seem like a good idea."For real? And you're just informing me now?" Rosanna asked, watching her words, as she knew her place in his life.Ethan paused for a second and glanced

"What did you see, and why are you watching US midnight news instead of watching French news? You could get some ideas from here on how to run the business in your hands," he said, rubbing his eyes.He took the coffee cup to the coffee machine in his office, but unfortunately, something was wrong with it, and he couldn't brew his coffee."Well, who knows if anyone else gets kidnapped and you decide not to tell me. US news will!" He informed."No one will get kidnapped, Cersei. I've got everything in control.""You've got everything in control, Ethan, and yet there's news about your divorce and how unfair it is to the Guardo family," Cersei said, furiously. Before she left the country, she wanted everything to be under control, and now, just after some days of her departure, there's a mess already

The day went by very quickly; Ethan was so buried in the many files he had to sign that he didn't pay attention to the time.A few minutes before closing hours, there was a knock on Ethan's door. The door opened, and his secretary walked in. Hesitating, she said, "Sir... Miss Dana is here to see you." Ethan paused, a smile slowly spreading across his lips as he realized, "So this is Dana's doing," he murmured. He hadn't thought much about the whole paparazzi drama because he had important things to handle and most definitely did not want to entangle himself with anything."Should I send her in, sir?" His secretary asked, waiting for a response.Letting out a long sigh, Ethan glanced at his time and said, "Yes.""Okay, sir."In less than 30 seconds,

Because apart from the taste of their burger, I don't see anything impressive about this place.""And I'm certain I've tasted better burgers, and I'm only surprised because I didn't expect a local place like this would be able to make such good burgers." She informed him, causing a sly smile to form on Ethan's face."Have you seen the price of the burger?" He asked, causing Selena to quickly pick the menu up again and glance through it. "Oh my God..." She paused, shutting her eyes and then reopening them, as she couldn't believe the prices on the menu."This isn't even 10 percent of the money I spend on burgers." She said, glancing at Ethan and then the burger before throwing the menu to the table, "Did you bring me here to eat cheap food?" She asked, her mood changing from shock to displeasure."No." Ethan responded calmly,"There are mind-blowing restaurants in the city, bu
