Chapter 5

Stepping out of the hotel, Ethan replayed everything that had just happened in his mind.

What had he done? How could he have thought about being with a woman he had just met, under these circumstances…

He shook his head. After all, it was his own overstep. Helping her with that favor might be his way of making up for it.

Moreover, this could be a perfect opportunity to get back at Dana.

Ethan smirked and dialed the phone number of Lilian, the CEO of Secret Company.

"Young Master Ethan, it's so late. What’s the matter?" Lilian's voice was soft and gentle.

"Lilian, I need you to make some adjustments on the names on the list." Initially, he had planned on making sure that Dana's company became one of Secret Company's biggest business partners, making sure that the company became one of the best, but unfortunately, Roseanne would have to take that spot.

"What adjustment, sir?" Lilian asked.

"Dana's name is on the list of business partners, is that right?" He asked just to confirm that it was included.

"Yes, sir,"

"I need you to replace that name. Milma company should take that spot," he informed. Lilian didn't bother to ask why. She immediately did as he said.

"Done. Is there anything else you would want me to do, sir?" She inquired.

"Yes, Lillian. I'm heading to my mini penthouse at Road 4. I need you to arrange a car and a tuxedo, one made of the finest fabric in the country. I'll be attending the commercial dinner party tomorrow." He informed.

"Oh my God. Finally, thank goodness that you'll be coming. I'll do all that you have said. But why go to your mini penthouse on Road 4 when you can go to your mansion at the heart of the city?" she inquired.

"I have my reasons, Lilian," he responded, nonchalantly.

"Okay, sir. Would you want me to personally receive you and also announce your identity to the public?" She asked.

"There's no need for you to receive me tomorrow, Lilian." He informed,

"Okay, sir," she responded before he ended the call.

Ethan inhaled deeply before walking towards Road 4. He had no penny with him to hail for a taxi, so he had to go on foot.

He would have asked Lilian to send me a ride, but his identity was still a secret, and if Lilian had sent him a ride, it would have caused awareness, as she would send one of his expensive cars with SUVs to accompany it.

The next day.

"Is everything in hand?" He asked Lilian over the car as he stepped into the Bentley that she sent to bring him to the dinner party.

"Yes," she responded.

"Alright then," Ethan ended the call, adjusted his tie, and cleared his throat.

On getting to the party, he stepped down from the car and brought his hand up to the line of his sight to check what the time was.

As he walked towards the entrance of the venue, he heard someone call his name from behind.

"Ethan Ford," Ethan turned to look behind him only for his eyes to fall on Roseanne.

She hastened her pace until she was standing right in front of him. "You look stunning," Ethan complimented.

"You must really like red," he added. Just like yesterday, she was in a red gown, but the shade of the red gown she saw today was brighter, and beautiful crystal stones were embedded on the corset of the dress.

"It's my signature color," she laughed.

"Thank you for the compliment, though. I got an invite at the last minute, and I know it was because of your help." She grinned.

As they spoke, a car drove into parking lot D, the one next to them.

Eric got down from the car and walked over to the other side to hold the door out for Dana.

The second she stepped down from the car, her eyes fell on Roseanne and Ethan, standing together.

"Rosanna and Ethan? How did those two end up together?!" Dana gritted her teeth in frustration.

"Who?" Eric looked up and saw a man and a woman standing at the company entrance.

"Isn't that your useless ex-husband and your business rival? Them?" Eric asked, puzzled.

"Could it be that Ethan was at the bar with Rosanna last night? No wonder Milma's performance has improved recently. Ethan must have stolen my business secrets!" Dana seethed with anger, already pinning crimes on Ethan that he hadn’t even committed.

"Don’t worry, Dana," Eric said calmly, flashing a confident smile. "The company didn’t send an invitation to Milma Company. Even if they came, it wouldn’t do them any good."

"Hah! So these two losers were planning to sneak in," Dana scoffed, lifting her chin arrogantly as she strode toward them.

"Well, well, who do we have here? The League of Losers?" Dana’s sharp, mocking voice rang out.

Hearing her, Ethan’s brows furrowed tightly.

She turned to me the second she heard the door open. "Come and join me." She said.Believing he had very little choice to object, he walked towards her and stood right beside her. "Do you see the city?" She asked."Yes, I see the city through this glass every day!" He informed her, causing Cersei to nod."I've been staring at it from this angle for minutes now, and all I see is peace. No chaos! No matter how closely I try to look, I still see peace. Every single person seems to be minding their business," she said."It's serene." Ethan commented. "I wish the world were truly like that. Peaceful with no conflict," she said, turning to face him."Why do we fight ourselves? Why do we fight for things that don't really matter? Why are people greedy?" She asked,

She asked abruptly, wiping the tears that welled up in her eyes.If there was something that she desperately didn't want, it was for Eric to know that she was in tears."You sent Ethan that video! Probably we would have still been a couple today!" She said, unable to hold in her words. She needed someone to blame her misfortune on. "You sent Ethan the video and made sure he watched every second of it.""I don't force him to view my surprise package for him." Eric said, sounding naughty."If you hadn't made that mistake. I would have been a princess in all of this chaos." She said, causing Eric to burst into laughter."Do you mean to say w
