The next morning, Ethan was already awake before the first signs of activity filled the Desmond Estate. He quietly left the bed and walked toward the concealed place where he had hidden the Dragon Sword, careful not to make enough noise.

He retrieved the legendary sword and held it for a moment, his eyes resting on the familiar weapon. A calm smile appeared on his face as the memories of his late father returned to him.

“Father, I will avenge them,” he said quietly.

  • The Call that broke the Silence

Ethan continued climbing the staircase, but the receptionist's question remained in his thoughts. He couldn't understand why she had suddenly asked whether he was the biological son of Jason Voss. Her explanation about their striking resemblance seemed reasonable, but something about her expression had made him suspect there was more to it.“Why did she look so curious?” he muttered quietly. He climbed another few steps before shaking his head. “Perhaps I'm thinking too much about it.”He had more important things to attend to than wondering about a receptionist's curiosity. He would question her later. There was no need to concern himself with it now.“I'll ask her later if necessary,” he concluded before pushing the thought aside. He passed the first floor, continued towards the second, and eventually reached the third floor. The polished tiles of the passageway reflected the bright morning light entering through the windows. He adjusted his backpack and began walking forward, passi

  • The Receptionist's Suspicion

The receptionist hesitated briefly before leaning forward and lowering her voice. Her expression had changed from excitement to curiosity, and she kept glancing at Ethan's face as though trying to confirm something she had been thinking about. She took a small breath before asking, “Are you really the biological son of the late Jason Voss?”For a moment, Ethan remained silent. His expression did not change, but his eyes remained fixed on hers. The receptionist quickly explained herself. “I'm sorry if that sounds too abrupt, sir. It's just that when I look at you, I can't help noticing the striking resemblance. Your height, your face, your build, and even your voice are remarkably similar to his. It's almost impossible to ignore.”She studied him with genuine curiosity. She had seen pictures and videos of Jason Voss before, and the resemblance was striking. The man standing before her seemed to carry many of the same physical features as the late War God.“Sir, I was only wondering bec

  • The Driver's token of Gratitude

Inside the moving taxi, Ethan watched the busy road of Dervadia pass through the window. He had no particular destination in mind yet, but he needed somewhere to rest before attending to anything else. The driver continued along the busy road, occasionally slowing down whenever traffic became heavy.Several minutes later, Ethan noticed a hotel building on the opposite side of the road. Its name was clearly displayed on a large signboard near the entrance. He didn't really know the name of the avenue or street he was travelling along, so he decided to stop at the hotel to find out its location.“Driver, please stop here,” Ethan instructed. The driver glanced at him through the rear-view mirror. “Here, sir?” he asked.“Yes. That's fine,” Ethan replied.“Alright, sir,” the driver responded. The driver slowed down and pulled over near the hotel. Ethan reached for his money, brought out some cash, and extended it towards him.“Thank you,” Ethan said as he prepared to step out. However, the

  • The Nonchalant Heir

The security guard finally reached him and paused to catch his breath before speaking politely. “Sir, please forgive me for stopping you. Mr. Desmond gave me an instruction. He ordered that one of his vehicles should take you straight to the main road so you wouldn't have to experience the stress of trekking such a long distance,” the guard explained.Ethan glanced back towards the villa. “He gave that instruction?”“Yes, sir. He doesn't want you trekking all the way to the road, especially after everything you've done for him. He asked me to make sure you were transported comfortably,” the guard replied.Ethan gave a slight smile. “That's thoughtful of him. Please thank him for me when you return.”“Certainly, sir. Would you mind waiting a few minutes while I contact the driver?” the guard asked.“No problem,” Ethan replied. The security guard immediately brought out his phone and called the driver. When the driver answered, he spoke politely. “Hello, please. Are you available?”“Yes

  • Departure from Desmond Villa

Mr. Desmond stepped closer, allowing a couple of moments to pass before addressing Ethan. Although he had smiled while watching them, he could no longer hide how much he would miss the young man. He had met many influential people throughout his life, but Ethan had earned his respect through his actions rather than his appearance or growing reputation. “Son, before you leave, I want you to remember something,” Mr. Desmond began. “Your life is more important than any battle you might face. I know you're strong, and I have no doubt about your abilities, but strength alone cannot protect anyone from every danger. Always think carefully before taking action.” Ethan turned towards him. “I understand, sir.” “Good. You're still young, and you have a long future ahead of you. Don't allow your responsibilities to make you careless about your health. Take care of yourself, avoid unnecessary trouble, and never underestimate the threats posed by your enemies. I sincerely wish you good health,

  • Departure from Desmond Villa

Sonia stood directly in front of Ethan, but when she finally looked into his eyes, the words she had prepared seemed to disappear. She had wanted to ask him to stay one last time, yet the thought of making his departure even harder left her struggling to speak. Ethan watched her quietly, waiting for her to say what was on her mind. “Love, I know I can't stop you from leaving,” she began, her voice trembling. “You've made your decision, and I understand that you're a man who keeps his word. But before you go, there's something I need you to promise me.” “What is it, darling?” Ethan asked gently. “Promise me you'll take good care of yourself. Please, be careful wherever you go, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. I know how strong you are, and I know you can handle people who threatens you, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful.” Ethan said nothing. He simply gave her a faint smile, allowing her to continue. “I'm going to miss you terribly, sweetheart,” Sonia
