The next day, a new spirit burned in his soul. He decided to launch a new project for the company, maybe it would serve as a new distraction.

Freya on the other hand had been sulking and barely ate. She going pale, but didn't care about it. Lucas felt her pain, but just couldn't do anything about it.

Anytime he thought about his inability to help, tears always escaped his eyelids, but however, today wasn't for that.

“Maybe, when I launch this new project and set in motion, maybe I'll win her again. Maybe I'll get the idea to get her back, I hope this system stuff would be over by then.”

Those words felt like his morning prayers and thereafter, he headed out. But before he did, he peeped into Freya's room, she was curled up on a pillow and wet with tears.

A deep sigh escaped his lips as he left the house in frustration.

His engine hummed speedily out of the garage, it suddenly felt like it was new driver that held the wheels and it sped off into the distance.

He turned on the music in the car and nodded his head, screaming like a crazed soul as he drove.

However, his joy was cut short when he heard police sirens behind him.

He nodded his head in remorse as he listened to the officer.

Thankfully, he wasn't going to be arrested, just a stern warning.

Thereafter, he rode to his office.

When he bounced out of the car, his suit was well pressed and he walked with new confidence. That old swollen face was gone and he was beaming happily.

First of all, he went in and checked the old model, how it was fairing and observed the flaws received from the users.

“Alright, it's time to make magic,” he smiled to himself and began drafting the framework of the next model.

With the help of his tech knowledge, in a few hours, he had written the new code for the next one.

Now, it was time to arrange the new baby.

“John, Joanne, Jimmy… my office now…” the telephone clasped tightly on the table as he smiled warmly.

‘Been a while, it's time to get back in the game…’

His plan worked quite well. He wasn't thinking about Freya or family drama. He was all fired up and ready for work. Infact, his body was itching to jump right on top of his workers.

The confidence and burning spirit that overwhelmed him was a big shock to them all.

In a few minutes, the door creaked open and the team of tech experts came rushing in.

“So guys, here's our new project…”

They examined the whole thing, their eyes shone in bewilderment as they couldn't understand how their boss was so intelligent and worked out such a perfect code in just a few hours.

“Brilliant! Sir, this is amazing…”

Their lips were filled with praise as they smiled at the game changer their boss had just designed.

This was definitely going to change the market for them, most especially with the deal with the Apple corporation that would supply them with high tech materials and also Orlando's company…

The next project was definitely going to be massive and finely executed.

“So, you guys should get to work. I want that boy ready in three months time. Is that clear?”

Their feets thud against the ground as the saluted.

“Yes sir!” They chorused.

They giggled together and left.

“Silly lads. Get out…” he chuckled.

He picked up his phone and dialed Smith's number.

After exchanging pleasantries, he went straight to busyas Smith was always very unserious.

“So, I'll be needing those materials today, sir. Is it going to be possible…”

“Sure…”

He began with his annoying jokes about women and how Lucas was missing out when his door creaked open.

It was his secretary…

‘Thank God!’

This was his only escape from Smith who away yelled not to dare end the call. At least, now that he heard his secretary's voice, he'll let him go…

“I'm sorry sir, I'll call you back later. Thank you…”

The beeping sound of the call echoed softly as he gazed at his secretary. They burst into laughter suddenly.

After everything, she gave him a package.

“A delivery man brought it, he said it's for you, Sir…”

This was surprising, but well, he took and checked it out after the secretary left.

It was golden Rolex watch. On the edge, it had diamond laced around it. Under it, the initials of his name was written on it.

This watch could only be made by one person, Roxanne Freeman. She was the richest billionaire and her company made such adornments.

However, he and Roxanne never had anything in common, neither did they know themselves from anywhere.

In his dilemma, his system beeped with a new notification.

“Accept and wear the gift to three public appearances.”

One name flashed into his mind–Smith.

Guilt swelled in his heart as he remembered how poor he looked that day at his event. He knew he bought the watch for him just to make him feel among.

Smith was a man that loved partying. And he always had events rolled up on his sleeves. But while they were chatting on the phone, he had told him about the new models of phones that his company planned to reveal at three events that as usual, said was going to change the history of the world.

He exhaled softly as he buried his head in shame.

One of the events was today. The clock on his system was already ticking for the first one.

“Damn!”

He had no other choice but to pull up his car and headed there.

The place was bustling with activities.

“Lucas! My boy! You came!”

Smith was already by the corner waiting for him. Their friendship was growing everyday.

“Wow, that watch looks good on you, my boy…” he smiled and led him in.

He knew he was the one.

The event began and the high and mighty gathered from all corners of the world to witness the unveiling.

It was at this moment that Smith whispered to Lucas he was going to do the unveiling to cement their relationship to the public.

His heart pounded with fear as the words hit him hard.

“Come on, boy, it's nothing. You just have to read the words, that's all…”

After much hesitation, he finally agreed.

“We want to seize this opportunity to invite, Mr. Lucas Ross to come over to the stage…”

The area shook with thunderstorms of clapping and screaming.

As usual, he was not a nervous person I heard just walked briskly to the stage and held up the microphone…

“Good evening, California!”

They thundered with joy as he read out and unveiled the newest model of the device from the Apple corporation and also read one shocking line, it was there in the small paper that was given to him as Smith had stressed he read it.

“I wish to also reveal the partnership with Apple corporation and my company and also, Roxanne’s jewelries…”

The arena shook with screams as he concluded the speech. The party carried on all through the night and Lucas knew the watch was all Smith's plan. Richard was also in attendance at the event and they all took pictures together.

For the very first time, Lucas didn't return home and it baffled Freya.

Even though she hated him, she was worried about him not being at home.

However, she dropped her pride and called him countless times but he wasn't answering.

“Lucas! Where are you now?!” She cried.

It was in her dilemma and tears that her phone pinged with a new notification.

“APPLE CORPORATION REVEALS THEIR LATEST MODEL OF PHONES…”

What caught her attention was Lucas on the picture.

Worst of all, he stood with Roxanne whom she immediately recognized. Who didn't know Roxanne…

Then the watch on his wrist!!! She knew he didn't own that, or so she thought. That watch was a customized and limited edition of the newest Rolex designs Roxanne had just advertised and right now, he was wearing it and taking photos with her, her arms on his shoulder…

“What?!”

It cemented all her thoughts.

“He's cheating on me! He's with her right now, that's why he doesn't want to answer my calls!” She dropped to her bed in shame and shattered her hair, rumpling the sheets as she rolled and screamed from one corner to another.
