Victoria had never liked boastful individuals, especially those who didn't hesitate to toot their own horn when they could, which was why even as she was devastated over her younger sister's current state, she didn't allow that to blind her to the fact that Vincent was a boastful individual.
“Are you going to take responsibility if something happens to my sister!” Victoria questioned causing Vincent to reply. “Miss Smith, you can count on me. I am the best surgeon this hospital has to offer so don't you worry.” Victoria still seemed doubtful so Damian spoke up. “Young Miss, don't worry, my son is an expert in his craft. I dare say he is even greater than I am, so don't worry, your sister is in good hands.” Naturally, the doctors and nurses on the ground could only shake their heads as they expected Damian to pick his son even as he was known to commit blunders while operating on patients. There had even been an instant where Vincent had forgotten an item in a patient, only remembering after he'd finished the operation. If not that Damian acted quickly, the patient would have died and the hospital would have ended up being sued for negligence. So, Claiming that Vincent was the best was an overstatement, especially when William was currently in their midst. He had managed to carry out some of the most impossible feats in the operation room, feats that no one else had been able to replicate. If anyone deserved the title of the best doctor in Red Angel, it was undoubtedly the LifeGiver, William Belmont. Unfortunately, Victoria didn't know that and the doctors weren't about to say anything for fear of being relieved of their job. In any case, Victoria didn't have much time to think about things so she spoke up. “Alright then, you can go ahead with the operation.” Excited that he succeeded in being picked, Vincent glanced at William with a mocking grin on his face. Who's the fool now?... Now just watch as I impress Miss Smith and get her to fall in love with me. Soon, you'll be forgotten, and I will be the new superstar; just wait! William paid no heed to Vincent, only hoping that the young girl would be saved since that was the most important thing. Meanwhile, Damian quickly hurried to the operating room with Vincent following closely behind. Just then, two senior doctors approached William to pay their respects. They were part of those that knew William when he worked at the hospital and so, held great respect for him. William greeted them cordially, only for one of them, Doctor Raymond, to express his displeasure. “It's quite unfortunate that you weren't picked, William, I wonder why the vice president continues to pick his son even when he knows how prone he is to mistakes. You were a better candidate.” William chuckled. “There's no need to think about that. In the first place, I only came to see some old friends. It remains that I don't work here anymore. And anyway, what matters is that the patient is saved, so let's just hope everything goes well.” “But still, Vincent is the worst choice.” “I agree.” Doctor Steven, the second of the duo remarked. “I'm sure if you had expressed your interest, the vice chairman wouldn't have accepted Vincent.” “There's no assurance that he would, and even if he did, Vincent might not accept this, which could cause an argument. So should I put myself first or the patient first?” Raymond sighed as he replied. “You are too good for your good, William.” William smiled as he replied. “I would be more than happy to tackle Vincent in another location but right now, a patient's life is at stake.” As the trio conversed, Victoria couldn't help but listen in on what they were talking about. In the meantime, Victoria was still uncomfortable with the fact that Vincent had been a bit too boastful. To set her mind to rest, she decided to investigate his credentials to ensure that he was as good as he claimed to be. She immediately put a call across to her secretary, Tanya, who immediately did some research only to come back with some worrisome news. “Madam, the doctor you told me to check up on has an abysmal record.” “What?” Victoria could hardly believe her ears. “It took me a while to dig up some dirt, but that's only because someone has paid people not to talk about it. However, according to what I learned, he is one of the worst surgeons in Red Angel Hospital. He has been sued several times by multiple patients due to mistakes in the operating room which resulted in complications later on. One of the patients nearly died as a result!” “No, this can't be happening.” Victoria began to panic as she asked. “Then who is the best doctor in the hospital?” “According to the system, a man that goes by the name William Belmont. He has even been given the title of LifeGiver due to his extraordinary medical skills. But then, it seems he quit a few years ago.” “He quit?” Victoria furrowed her brows as she asked. “Why?” “He got married to Miss Celia Rodriguez and decided to become a house husband.” “A house husband?” “Yes, but it seems Miss Rodriguez has divorced him,” Tanya said before unintentionally adding. “Quite unfortunate.”Latest Chapter
Third time's a charm
William stepped out with Zara to welcome Missie aboard Blackbeard's ship. On seeing William, Missie immediately froze, her eyes wide as she stared at him while he met her gaze with a calm look on his face.“Missie!” William called out as he approached. “I had warned you, didn't I?... So why?... Why didn't you listen?”Missie, realizing that the gig was up, dropped all pretenses as she replied. “Fuck you, William Belmont!”William paused, his expression impassive as he stared at her.Missie's heart tightened as she continued. “Did you expect me to do nothing and watch you leave with everything I have worked for!... Of course not!... So don't make it look like I decided to mess with you!”“Excuses. That's all I can hear right now and it is not making your case any better.”Gritting her teeth, Missie asked. “So what now?”“I already told you, Missie. Third time's a charm and it's also your end.”“Don't think I would go down without a fight!”As she said that, she pulled out a gun and tr

Blackbeard chuckled as though he'd already won. “That fool really thought that I'd fight him fairly. Pathetic. I wonder how Missie failed to defeat such a fool.”“Boss, Mistress has sent a message, she is asking if we have dealt with William Belmont.” “Tell her that I have dealt with the fool, so she should make sure that my money is not delayed. I have a rather short temper with regards to finances.” “I'll let her know.” “Good.” Blackbeard remarked and was just about to get back to enjoying his easy victory when he saw someone appear from within his captain quarters. His heart palpitated strongly as he exclaimed. “Impossible!” Blackbeard had encountered many things in his days as a pirate but none as mind boggling as having sunk a ship along with its occupants only for those same occupants to appear on his ship without warning! The first question that came to his mind was how did they survive the boat sinking and the second was how had they gotten on his ship without his knowledg
Aboard a sunken ship
The boat stopped moving at a certain point, almost like it was waiting for something. It didn't take long for what it was waiting for to reveal itself. From all indications, it looked like a pirate ship but instead of apprehension, Caleb seemed excited at their arrival. When they finally got close enough, the leader in charge of the pirate ship stepped onto Caleb's yacht with six other pirates.“Hey Blackbeard, got my money?” Caleb remarked.Blackbeard glared at him, causing him to step back in fright. “Do you have the goods?”“Of course. They are in their rooms. I drugged them with enough medicine to knock an elephant out.”“Unfortunately, I don't think that was enough.” A voice suddenly said, causing Caleb to go wide eyed as he glanced back to find William and Zara awake, contrary to his beliefs that they were asleep.“How?”William snorted. “We aren't stupid and you must be foolish if you thought you were fooling anyone with your poor acting.”Caleb naturally felt offended as he la

Balling her fists, Missie inquired. “Fine then, what do you want?”“The total profits you made from kidnapping Miss Khan.”“That's impossible.”“Either make it possible or I will not hesitate to ensure your possibilities end today.” William threatened.Missie breathing became uneven as she replied. “Fine then, I'll hand it over.”“Secondly, you and your pirate friends will leave her company alone. Not even a pebble should be taken when you withdraw, understood?”“You are going too far, William Belmont, you are going too far!”“And I will not hesitate to go a thousand miles so either shut up or be prepared to pay the price.” William spat coldly causing Missie to flinch.Who would have thought that William could be so ruthless? When Missie had initially been contacted by Charles, she had only seen profits and nothing else which was why she didn't hesitate to attack Zara. Now, it seemed she would be losing much more than she gained, leaving her no choice but to despise William and Zara.
Meeting Missie again
Snorting derisively, William didn't even bother with a response as he turned and left.Only after he was gone did Old Man Sha turn his attention to the metallic box and open it to find the object within. However, instead of joy, he was left with a frown as he sensed that these objects were devoid of demonic aura.At this point, they were completely normal items but how come?... He had clearly sensed that they had a demonic aura yet now, they were completely normal.Maybe that was why William had tossed it to him.Since they were ordinary items, they had no use for a powerful figure like him but that also meant that Old Man Sha had no use for them as well.He clicked his tongue in annoyance as he closed the metal box before he ordered the last remaining subordinate to take the metal box and follow him.Meanwhile, William made his way back into the main hall with the contract in his hand.He quickly arrived in the room where Zara was kept.He opened the door and entered inside to find t

They would have already known that William was a rich man.William also didn't discount the fact that Mistress has a hand in them ganging up on him like this. After all, for a bunch of criminals that despised working together, they were looking quite coordinated.“I don't want to hurt you.” William calmly said. The female criminal among them sneered. “It seems you are quite delusional.”“Maybe it's because he was able to push Old Man Sha around that he thinks he is some kind of bigshot. Oi, I'll let you in on a little secret, Old Man Sha is waiting for you outside so don't think that you can walk out of here alive. That Old man is definitely going to use you for one of his weird sacrifices.” Saying this, the criminals burst into laughter, mocking William for being so daring.Did he think that he could do as he pleased just because he had a bit of money?Foolish! In this dark auction hall, no one cares about how much money you had.In fact the less money you spend, the better your cha
