Victoria had never liked boastful individuals, especially those who didn't hesitate to toot their own horn when they could, which was why even as she was devastated over her younger sister's current state, she didn't allow that to blind her to the fact that Vincent was a boastful individual.

“Are you going to take responsibility if something happens to my sister!” Victoria questioned causing Vincent to reply.

“Miss Smith, you can count on me. I am the best surgeon this hospital has to offer so don't you worry.”

Victoria still seemed doubtful so Damian spoke up. “Young Miss, don't worry, my son is an expert in his craft. I dare say he is even greater than I am, so don't worry, your sister is in good hands.”

Naturally, the doctors and nurses on the ground could only shake their heads as they expected Damian to pick his son even as he was known to commit blunders while operating on patients.

There had even been an instant where Vincent had forgotten an item in a patient, only remembering after he'd finished the operation.

If not that Damian acted quickly, the patient would have died and the hospital would have ended up being sued for negligence.

So, Claiming that Vincent was the best was an overstatement, especially when William was currently in their midst.

He had managed to carry out some of the most impossible feats in the operation room, feats that no one else had been able to replicate.

If anyone deserved the title of the best doctor in Red Angel, it was undoubtedly the LifeGiver, William Belmont.

Unfortunately, Victoria didn't know that and the doctors weren't about to say anything for fear of being relieved of their job.

In any case, Victoria didn't have much time to think about things so she spoke up. “Alright then, you can go ahead with the operation.”

Excited that he succeeded in being picked, Vincent glanced at William with a mocking grin on his face.

Who's the fool now?... Now just watch as I impress Miss Smith and get her to fall in love with me.

Soon, you'll be forgotten, and I will be the new superstar; just wait!

William paid no heed to Vincent, only hoping that the young girl would be saved since that was the most important thing.

Meanwhile, Damian quickly hurried to the operating room with Vincent following closely behind.

Just then, two senior doctors approached William to pay their respects.

They were part of those that knew William when he worked at the hospital and so, held great respect for him.

William greeted them cordially, only for one of them, Doctor Raymond, to express his displeasure.

“It's quite unfortunate that you weren't picked, William, I wonder why the vice president continues to pick his son even when he knows how prone he is to mistakes. You were a better candidate.”

William chuckled. “There's no need to think about that. In the first place, I only came to see some old friends. It remains that I don't work here anymore. And anyway, what matters is that the patient is saved, so let's just hope everything goes well.”

“But still, Vincent is the worst choice.”

“I agree.” Doctor Steven, the second of the duo remarked. “I'm sure if you had expressed your interest, the vice chairman wouldn't have accepted Vincent.”

“There's no assurance that he would, and even if he did, Vincent might not accept this, which could cause an argument. So should I put myself first or the patient first?”

Raymond sighed as he replied. “You are too good for your good, William.”

William smiled as he replied. “I would be more than happy to tackle Vincent in another location but right now, a patient's life is at stake.”

As the trio conversed, Victoria couldn't help but listen in on what they were talking about.

In the meantime, Victoria was still uncomfortable with the fact that Vincent had been a bit too boastful.

To set her mind to rest, she decided to investigate his credentials to ensure that he was as good as he claimed to be.

She immediately put a call across to her secretary, Tanya, who immediately did some research only to come back with some worrisome news.

“Madam, the doctor you told me to check up on has an abysmal record.”

“What?” Victoria could hardly believe her ears.

“It took me a while to dig up some dirt, but that's only because someone has paid people not to talk about it. However, according to what I learned, he is one of the worst surgeons in Red Angel Hospital. He has been sued several times by multiple patients due to mistakes in the operating room which resulted in complications later on. One of the patients nearly died as a result!”

“No, this can't be happening.” Victoria began to panic as she asked. “Then who is the best doctor in the hospital?”

“According to the system, a man that goes by the name William Belmont. He has even been given the title of LifeGiver due to his extraordinary medical skills. But then, it seems he quit a few years ago.”

“He quit?” Victoria furrowed her brows as she asked. “Why?”

“He got married to Miss Celia Rodriguez and decided to become a house husband.”

“A house husband?”

“Yes, but it seems Miss Rodriguez has divorced him,” Tanya said before unintentionally adding. “Quite unfortunate.”

“Bastard!”Even after Donald’s figure disappeared into the night, Victor’s chest was still heaving up and down vigorously. He was clearly still livid.“How on earth did I give birth to such a dimwit? What a great misfortune for my family!” Victor rattled on, his face full of disappointment about Donald.William wanted to comfort Victor, but he didn’t know how to start. After all, Donald was really foolish beyond William’s expectations, and he could fully imagine how frustrated Victor was now.He knew that Donald was prejudiced against him and would definitely try to find trouble with him.But he didn’t expect that Donald would actually barge into Victor’s residence and criticize him right in front of Victor.William didn’t know what to say about his behavior.“William, I’m really sorry. It’s my lack of proper discipline that resulted in my son saying such unpleasant things to you. Please don’t take it to heart!” Victor said to William apologetically.William shook his head. “It’s fine

The bracelet was from the Emerald Garden, so it had to be extremely expensive. But since William could give it away, Victor didn’t bother about whether it was too expensive for William.William was not the kind who would puff himself up, and the friendship between the Lancasters and William was more than that. There was no need for Victor to dwell on such a trivial matter.Victor and William were sitting on the plain tree stump chairs and ate the sweet fruits while chatting and enjoying the night view harmoniously.Suddenly, there was knocking on the wooden door outside the idyllic residence.“Come in!” Victor said casually. The wooden door was opened with a creak, and Donald entered from outside.Victor subconsciously frowned upon seeing his son. “Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be helping Cecilia with the party?”Donald didn’t say anything. Right from the beginning, he was staring at William, who was sitting beside Victor. When Donald saw that a significant portion of the fruit plat

Victor said dotingly while looking at the back of his beautifully dressed granddaughter. After rinsing the basket of fruits under a tap, a servant placed them on a fruit tray, brought it over to the courtyard, and placed it on a stone table under a tree. This resting corner was decorated in an idyllic style, with a small stone table and three antique round tree stumps around it.Victor warmly asked William to sit down on a tree stump. “Quickly take a seat and try the fruits I planted myself. They are definitely better than what you can get elsewhere!”William smiled. “Thank you, Mr. Lancaster. I’m in for a treat today then.”At the same time, in the villa where Donald was…Donald had lost his temper just now from his failed attempts to convince Zayn and Richard to sever ties with William. He had even smashed his phone. He had to down several mouthfuls of tea to calm down.At this moment, the butler-like man who had previously invited William hurriedly came in from outside and reported

  • The ultimate bliss

After lashing out at Donald, Richard immediately hung up without giving Donald the chance to respond.Holding his phone tightly, Donald stood dumbfounded without reacting for a long time.Richard’s words were still ringing in his ears.As the only son of Victor, the head of the Lancaster family, it had been a long time since Donald had been reprimanded badly and had someone hang up on him.If it were someone else, Donald would have used the power of the Lancasters to kill them. But since he was facing Richard, the helmsman of the Smiths, who had recently risen in strength and was almost on par with the Lancasters, Donald had no choice but to bear with it.If this matter spread to his father’s ears, he would probably say that Richard had done a good job reprimanding him.He might even force him to apologize to Richard. Thus, he could only grit his teeth and tolerate it for now.But Richard’s attitude clearly showed that the Smiths would rather go to war with the Lancasters than sever t

Donald clearly stated his displeasure toward William. In his opinion, William managed to befriend the Khans entirely because he leveraged the power of the Lancasters. As long as he made it clear to the Khans what the Lancasters’ attitude toward William was, he believed that Zayn would draw a clear line with William immediately. He reckoned that Zayn would agree, especially since he had promised some benefits and extended an olive branch. Those wealthy families would eagerly agree immediately.“Mr. Lancaster, I’ve already told you that it’s impossible!” Zayn’s tone became cold and harsh, with extreme determination and some anger.“Regardless of what yours and the Lancasters’ attitude toward Mr. Belmont is, the Khans will never sever ties with Mr. Belmont!“Mr. Lancaster, if you called me today just to talk about this matter, then we don’t need to talk anymore. I still have something important to do, so I’ll hang up now. I’ll visit Mr. Lancaster Sr. another time.”With that, Zayn hung u

  • Making things clear to a fool

“Do you think I befriended the Khan family, the Smiths, and the others because of the Lancasters?” William suddenly asked.Donald frowned and asked rhetorically, “Isn’t it?”“It’s really true.” William raised his eyebrows and smiled faintly. “In that case, Mr. Lancaster, why don’t you call Mr. Khan and Mr. Smith to ask if they’re friends with me because of the Lancasters?!”He had a look of mockery on his face.He had long guessed it. Donald indeed thought that William had borrowed the Lancasters’ power to establish a relationship with the Khans and the Smiths. Just now, he even accused William of taking advantage of the Lancasters, which was simply hilarious.“Also, I hope that you won’t casually speculate on my intentions. I’m not interested in being your son-in-law, nor am I interested in the Lancasters’ assets. I only treat Cecilia as my younger sister.“As for my friendship with Mr. Lancaster Sr., this is a matter between us. You don’t seem to have any right to interfere, do you
