[Selene's System

 {Profile}

 Desmond Moon

 Age: 18

 Race: Human

 Level: 1

 Magic Ring: -

 Cultivation Realm: -

 Skills: -]

When Desmond carefully examined this system window, he noticed his name, age, race, and something he had never seen before called "level".

There were also two sections called "Magic Ring" and "Cultivation Realm".

[As you can understand, you can begin training in two powers altogether. It will be a bit painful, but your cultivation veins need to open, and your heart needs to be strong enough to carry the magic rings. That's why you need to be in a city or an empty place where no one will touch you.]

While Desmond was lost in his own thoughts, these words suddenly appeared in his mind, and he immediately clicked a few times towards the front of the carriage, saying, “Very well.”

With that, the carriage stopped again, and this time the doors opened normally.

“Yes, sir, was there a problem?” asked George.

“I was just wondering, how long until the next settlement?” asked Desmond, putting his cloak back on, still not wanting to show his face; George was the only one who had seen it anyway.

“There's a large town nearby, about thirty kilometres away. We expect to reach it in the evening, but the horses are being a bit stubborn, so it might be later in the night,” replied George.

“I understand. Please continue,” said Desmond, then suddenly stopped George.

Reaching into his magic bag, he took out a few of the snacks he had bought before leaving the city and handed them to George, saying, “Here you go.”

George seemed surprised and pleased by this gesture. Hunters weren't highly valued individuals; unless they were S-Class, meaning stronger than even Desmond's sister, their numbers were naturally quite low.

“Thank you, sir,” said George, gently closing the carriage door.

The carriage began moving shortly after, and Desmond examined the system window in front of him for a while longer.

He soon realised that the system window had different sections, and even saw a shop section where he could buy things related to magic and cultivation.

“Unbelievable…” Desmond muttered, and it truly was.

Perhaps even a 'Phoenix Tear', which might be priced at a hundred million gold, was selling for only a million gold. It was an unbelievable price. It was wonderful that such an incredible alchemy ingredient was so cheap. Desmond was sure that if his sister saw this, she would faint on the spot.

There were other locked areas on this system. These areas were written in a language Desmond didn't even know, couldn't even read the names.

Still, everything was perfect. Desmond wanted to believe the voice he heard in his mind, even if it hurt him deeply.

If the goddess Selene, whom his family had worshipped for generations, for over ten thousand years, had given him such an opportunity, he had to make the most of it.

That was precisely why he wanted to prepare himself mentally, at least, for the immense pain he was likely to feel.

After somehow managing to close the system window, he lay back down where he was and closed his eyes, even though the carriage was moving. He wanted to sleep until they reached the village.

Five minutes after closing his eyes, he finally managed to fall asleep.

As seconds turned into minutes and minutes into hours, Desmond had been asleep for a full eight hours.

When the horse-drawn carriage suddenly stopped, he was jolted awake.

As he stood up inside the carriage, the doors opened and George said politely, “We've arrived at Dekilar Town, sir, one of the two towns before reaching the eastern border. From here on, there won't be any settlements for nearly fifteen hundred kilometres.”

Hearing these words from the horse-drawn carriage, Desmond got out, and after the hunting party greeted him respectfully, he began to make his way towards the inn district of the town.

As they approached the inn district, he said to George, “I want you to rent the best inn for three days,” and handed him a pouch from his magic bag containing about five hundred gold coins.

“That's too much, sir,” George protested.

“It's nothing to me,” replied Desmond; after all, he needed a quiet, peaceful place where he would not be disturbed.

There were many hunters around. Everyone's eyes were fixed on him. Of course, this was because of the members of the hunter group protecting him.

Every hunter under the Hunter Guild had an emblem indicating their hunter rank.

These emblems progressed from the lowest rank, white, to the highest, black, and the colour for the A-Class rank was red.

A group of hunters, each wearing a dark red emblem, meant they were a group of hunters very close to the S-Class rank.

Of course, being very close never diminished the HUGE power difference between A-Class and S-Class, but technically, that was the reality.

When Desmond entered the inn district, the leader of the hunter group, George, and several group members had temporarily left to speak with the owner of the most luxurious inn in the area.

“You're a noble, aren't you, sir?” Desmond suddenly heard someone ask. The question came from one of the members of the hunter group.

However, the moment the member asked the question, another member instantly hit him as hard as possible on the head. The sound of hitting an empty pumpkin echoed throughout the area.

“Are you stupid? Our job is not to ask questions, but to protect!” the female group member said immediately.

It was possible to see that the person who had been hit on the head was quite young. He was short, his muscle mass not particularly developed for his age, but it was not difficult to see that he was a cultivator who was quite good and had potential for development.

In short, it was nothing more than the curiosity of a child even younger than Desmond.

“Yes,” replied Desmond. Anyone who looked at him could tell he was a nobleman.
