Desmond had started running through the catacombs. Naturally, he had no idea what the test was about, but at least he could try to find something, and he had tried to do so.

After a long struggle, he realised there were two doors inside this catacomb.

The door on the right side of the catacomb had [Gate of Life] written above it, while the door on the left side had [Gate of Death].

Strangely, there was an area in the middle of this catacomb, right in the centre of the room, where the two doors were located. An area with different images drawn on it.

It looked like a closed well, a well that was completely sealed.

Although Desmond did not quite understand what it was, there were things written in a language he did not know on this thing that sealed the well.

Desmond had never seen this language in his life.

The young man realised he couldn't understand anything from this, but he still took out a large piece of paper from his inventory along with a little ink and began to copy everythin

When Desmond began listening more carefully to the sounds, he turned around and walked back towards the door of the room. Standing in the doorway, he tried to discern where the sounds he was now listening to more attentively were coming from.It was a puzzle, but it had a pattern, much like an illusion spell. Each drop represented an area. Steps that turned from the corners, straight or to the right. When Desmond began to listen carefully to these drops, he realised that after a while, they repeated themselves. More precisely, it was as if the areas where the sounds of the drops came from were being revisited by the drops. After listening to these sounds for a while longer, the young man closed his eyes and gathered himself. With that, he took his first step.He stepped where he thought was right, and everything fell into place as if he had entered a regional coordinate. More accurately, this area had come to life in the fullest sense. The poisonous smoke around him had vanished, and

  • Just Like An Illusion

The spell had advanced towards the demons and had already slowed them down considerably, striking them. The demons had slowed down significantly, which naturally suited Desmond. The young man immediately left his spot and, in doing so, transformed the staff in his hand back into a sword. He lunged towards the demons and, as he did so, enveloped his sword in pitch-black fire.As he did this, the aura of darkness and starlight around his body flowed into the sword, making the pitch-black fire sharper, purer, and more powerful. At that moment, Desmond saw the demons amidst the ice dust. The pair hadn't just slowed down; they appeared to be completely frozen in place. The young man, seeing them pinned down, didn't hesitate for a second and calmly said, "Dash."Activating his ability, he appeared in front of a demon and plunged his sword directly into its throat. The sword entered the demon's throat like a knife cutting through butter. As soon as Desmond thrust the sword into the demon's t

  • Need To Move

By the time noon turned to evening, Desmond had already managed to connect to Estella in the capital thanks to Maria.Estella was incredibly worried when she saw the concern in her little nephew Desmond's eyes and the dark circles under his eyes."Des... Are you alright? I was surprised when Cardinal Maria wanted to see me urgently; I heard she had seen a prophecy. What's going on?" Estella asked calmly.Desmond looked at the communication device in front of him, the magical orb, and told Estella on the other side of the orb everything he had seen.Estella was naturally worried. One didn't need to be a genius to understand how terrible this kind of prophecy was. Estella herself had begun to worry about Claire, but the real problem was that they didn't know when this prophecy was likely to come true.It was truly worrying."All right, I'll contact Claire as soon as possible. Empress Andromeda has already contacted us. More precisely, the empress contacted Evander. Don't worry, I'll get

When he opened his eyes again, he was in a strange place, a place he was certain he had never seen before. He was sure it was a dream, but everything still seemed very strange to him.The only reason for this was the strange smell in the air. Desmond was in a room, a room he didn't know the type of.There was an exit, and it had prompted the young man to get up from the bed he was sitting on.When the young man pulled down the door handle and opened the door, he tried to go outside and was met by fires all around him.At that moment, he understood what the smell was... no, he remembered. It was the smell of burnt flesh... the smell of burnt corpses.Desmond could see dozens of people around him wearing servants' uniforms or butlers' uniforms. Not only that, but he could also make out many knights and people who he could tell were cultivators just from their physiques. The young man couldn't really figure out what was going on. He could only make out the pitch-black and deep blue fires

Desmond had already had his breakfast and had been standing in the middle of his alchemy area for nearly five hours. The formula he had created was proceeding without a hitch. Absolutely.Desmond had thought he would succeed on his seventh attempt and was delighted, and indeed he would. The liquid inside the cauldron had begun to slowly turn a pale green. Perhaps three, perhaps two minutes remained. The young man spent this time carefully, trying not to move even for a second. He just waited at the cauldron. With each passing second, the liquid inside the cauldron turned a brighter green, and indeed, within a short time, it had turned completely bright green. With that, the potion was complete.Desmond calmly used his mana to cover all the liquid inside the cauldron and began slowly pouring the potion liquid into the bottles he had placed on the table. After finishing this process, he removed every alchemy ingredient from the tables, then closed the caps of the bottles and placed them
