"You're forgetting to return my card," William said so casually like nothing had happened.

"Huh?" She was stunned.

Quickly, she moved to the table and picked up the handheld machine only to see the message on the screen.

'Card is unreadable'

This was the first time she had seen such a message.

Rose dared to not delay as she pulled out the black card and handed it over to William with the slight bow of her head.

Her fingers fidgeted as she did and she glanced in the direction of her boss, hoping he would come to her rescue.

There was a fierce look on Grey's face instead.

He scolded her, "Rose, what did you do?"

Somehow, he knew she had done something wrong.

Young Master William knew the right place to insert his black card.

Rose's legs went jelly and she dropped to her knees, "Forgive me, Mr. Grey. I didn't know he was an important person. He warned me to not insert the card and requested to see you. I was wrong"

She knew how ruthless her boss could be when he got annoyed.

Right now, it wasn't about losing her job.

Whoever could make her Boss bow, was no person to be reckoned with.

Grey's eyes turned dark instantly and he roared, "How dare you offend the young master? Have you made a pact with death?"

When she heard this, her face turned pale and she begged, "Forgive me, Young Master. I deserve death"

At first, she wasn't sure why the shabbily dressed man was being referred to as a young master.

But now, she remembered something.

Mr. Grey Almond had always talked about a young man who saved his life and paved a path for him to become great in life.

He claimed the influence of that young master was unmatched and offending him was the same as embracing death.

It can't be. Could this be the same young master Manager Grey has rambled about for years?

William sighed as he took his card from her and looked into the pitiful look on her face.

He never planned to cause a scene today but it has happened.

All he wanted to see at first was the reaction of Rose when the armed men arrived.

He wanted to see how long she could keep up with her arrogance.

Grey turned his face to meet William and said, "Forgive me for not training my staff well, young master. I would punish her today for disrespecting you"

Rose's face turned extremely pale from hearing this and more tears flowed down her red cheeks.

William waved his hand and mumbled lazily, "It's alright, Grey. She doesn't know what a black card looks like. Let her off the hook"

Rose's eyeballs almost dropped in shock.

Was this handsome man sparing her right now?

"Thank you, Young master. In the future, I'll do anything you ask of me " Rose clamped her hands together as she said to him.

'Even if you want me to be your woman' She didn't dare to say this out.

If only she could associate herself with such a powerful man, her status would elevate and she would be no pushover too.

William didn't care about her promise as he turned away and beckoned at Grey, "I have someplace to be today, Grey. Let's be done with this"

Grey hurried after him but not after saying to Rose, "Hurry and Prepare tea for the young master. "

"Right away" Rose did not dare to hesitate.

"Young master," Grey said as he caught up with William.

William halted sharply and turned to him, "Oh, can you stop being polite? I'm William, or have you forgotten my name"

Grey scratched the back of his head and replied, "No. I'm just happy to see you after all these years"

He could not hide the emotion on his face.

William sighed, "Call me William in the future. I don't need unnecessary attention. I hope you understand"

The old man stammered, "But you're back, right?"

Why was William rejecting his title of honor?

It felt strange to him until he heard his response, "I'm not. Treat me as a friend"

William continued walking down the hallway.

This left Grey confused.

"Wasn't there a global message yesterday about the return of the second-generation heir of the Miller family?"

Grey was overjoyed when he saw the message and was already making arrangements to find his long-lost savior.

Years ago, he had failed at a task while working for the Miller family as a butler.

The punishment for such a mistake was death but William had taken the blame instead and had him sent to this city.

That wasn't enough as the good young master connected him with powerful people in the city and in no time he was at the top.

  • 271: No Turning Back

Harry stood motionless, the phone still pressed to his ear as the last of the laughter died away. The world around him seemed to crumble, the weight of the revelation sinking into his bones. He had been used, no, worse. He had been nothing more than a stepping stone, a tool in someone else's game. The realization hit him like a slap to the face, but it wasn’t enough to break the anger that was building inside him.He dropped the phone to the ground, watching as it bounced once, twice, before it clattered to a stop. His fingers twitched with rage, and the gun in his hand suddenly felt too small. Tracey’s tear-filled eyes locked onto his, and for a brief moment, he considered the woman who had once foolishly loved him with everything. But any trace of humanity he had left was swallowed by the rage creeping over him. He turned away from her, away from everything. Amelia had arrived at her family's villa, and the moment the gates opened, she could see a flurry of activity inside the space. Her mother’s voice pierced the air before she even stepped out of the car.Vera Sinclair was marching down the marble steps with fire in her eyes, flanked by four master practitioners and a visibly tense Edward right behind. Her hands were on her waist. “Where have you been?! Do you have any idea the chaos you caused? We were about to send every Sinclair master out into the city!”Amelia stood still, her hands on the car door, not even glancing in her mother’s direction. Her voice was calm, but her chest was rising and falling with the weight of something heavier. “Is William here?”Vera blinked, almost offended.“Excuse me?”“I said, is William here?” Amelia repeated, turning fully now and facing her parents. Her mo
