“Everyone, hold it right there,” Sophia barked, her voice slicing through the bedlam like a whip.

She’d already heard Florence’s frantic version—and everyone else’s—about how Alex had wrecked everything and how Charles was supposed to swoop in and save the day.

She didn’t want to listen to another second of it, but shutting her ears was impossible.

Still, she needed to hear Alex’s side of the story.

“What’s going on, Alex? Care to enlighten the rest of us?” Sophia gave him a single, razor‑sharp chance to defend himself.

“Bella was acting like an unruly brat, so I put her in her place,” Alex responded without a hint of remorse.

“Did you lay a hand on her?” Sophia frowned, her eyes narrowing in disbelief.

“I only slapped her once,” Alex shrugged. “After that, the other guests joined in with their own slaps.”

“You all heard that, right? He laid hands on her first, so he started this entire mess! It’s his fault the Lancasters got banned!” Florence shouted, her anger flaring like wildfire.

The conflict tore at him from within—Luther was the child he'd raised, blood or no blood, a son he’d cherished despite every betrayal his mother inflicted.David had vowed never to hold the sins of parents against their child. But now, faced with Luther's twisted fury, he felt his resolve wavering."You've never shouted at me," Luther hissed, a wounded animal snarling betrayal."Never raised your fist. But now, because of her, everything changes? Am I suddenly nothing to you?""Listen carefully," David said through gritted teeth, desperately fighting the storm inside him."There's much you don't understand yet. Just go home, cool off, and tonight I'll explain everything.""Fine," Luther snapped, his jaw tigh

Alex and Lyra stepped into a quaint café tucked behind an unassuming flower shop, distant from the bustling street. The air was fragrant with roses and coffee beans, peaceful yet oddly charged.Lyra cast a skeptical glance around. "Alex, seriously, why are we here?"Alex smirked as he flipped open the menu. "Trust me, Lyra. If my hunch is right, we're in for quite the spectacle."She raised a teasing eyebrow. "If you're paying, this might actually qualify as a date."He chuckled dryly. "Order whatever you want. Though, I'm still puzzled by your eagerness to spend money when you spend your days piling it up."Lyra grinned playfully. "Money's nice, but it doesn't beat watching you squirm when the check arrives."They exchanged laughter, enjoying the brief respite until Lyra suddenly leaned forward, eyes wide. "Wait—isn't that David?"Their corner seat shielded them from view, but offered a perfect line of sight.David strode in, scanning the small café urgently until his gaze landed on

"David, do you want some time alone? We can come back later."“No,” David snapped, his voice dangerously calm, eyes flashing with a sinister fury.“I have to thank Alex personally for unveiling this nightmare.”He rose abruptly, bitterness seeping into every syllable.“Life’s a twisted joke. I’ve spent my whole existence doing good deeds, only to be repaid with HIV, a cheating wife, and now—the bitter irony—my beloved son isn’t even mine.”He drew a ragged breath, anguish heavy in his chest. All the wealth and power he’d accumulated, yet now he stood heirless, a broken king without a legacy.David reached fo

David lowered his eyes, shame flickering briefly across his face."Maybe you're right," he admitted quietly. "I'm sorry for doubting your miracle pill."Lyra's lips curled into a knowing smile. "Glad we're clear. Your last announcement caused my sales to plummet. That needs fixing."Forcing a strained smile, David sighed deeply. "I'll publicly endorse it again, I promise. But you need to help me get rid of this disease first."Alex leaned forward."Easy enough. Just take the miracle pill once a month, and within three months, your body will eradicate all traces of HIV. Trust the process.""Then we're finished here," Alex said, rising smoothly from his chair."Wait!" David’s voice broke urgently, punctuated by a rattling cough. "There's something else. Just a moment, please.""No rush," Alex replied, exchanging an intrigued glance with Lyra.David signaled to one of his guards, and shortly after, a young man about seventeen stepped nervously into the room."This is Luther Morgan, my on

"Explain what?" Rose screamed, her voice echoing harshly against the sterile walls."He's lying—every single one of them is! We’ve been doing just fine with Dr. Louise York. Now suddenly these frauds show up and hand us a completely different result? No way. They’re all liars—plain and simple!"The doctors and nurses exchanged weary, condescending glances, staring at Rose as though she were raving mad."If you can't accept reality, that's your problem," the lead doctor said coldly, her tone dripping contempt."Feel free to find another hospital to peddle your delusions. But be warned, your precious private doctor is nothing but a fraud who'd sell his mother for the right price."With a dismissive sneer, the doctor pivoted sharply, stalking back toward the helicopter, leaving a bitter, unbearable truth hanging heavily behind him.Lyra broke into bitter laughter."Alex, why don't you break it down for them," she mocked, "as a professional, of course."Alex’s smile curled into something

Rose exploded, clawing desperately at her fading dignity."I just left the hospital today, got a clean bill of health, and you dare frighten me with this filthy slander?"Alex merely shrugged, utterly unfazed, his eyes glinting like sharpened steel. "Suit yourself, princess. Believe whatever helps you sleep at night.""You insufferable wretch! You dare humiliate me in public?!" Rose roared, her voice splintering under the weight of her rage and shame. She spun furiously to her muscle-bound bodyguard. "William! Smash his smug face into the ground—right now!"William, muscles flexing like iron beneath taut skin, took one imposing step forward, fists clenched, eyes darkening with silent menace as tension crackled like a prairie fire. But before he got close, Alex raised a casual, commanding hand."Think twice, big guy," he warned."I'm not joking about her condition. If she spits on you, God help you—you might end up counting your days right alongside her. Are you sure

Josephine’s eyes widened with surprise and admiration."Josephine," Lyra chuckled warmly, placing a comforting hand on the young girl's shoulder, her tone filled with playful scolding."How many times must I tell you?
