I died as the Nine Realms’ strongest Sovereign. Or so they thought. I woke up 5 years ago in a broken body — no memories, no cultivation, no name. The Carter family took me in as their live-in son-in-law, a dog they kicked for three years straight. The day my cheating wife threw divorce papers at me, I signed without looking back. At the crossroads, a girl in white was waiting. She called me “Your Majesty”... and returned something I’d buried: a shattered soul bead. With it came whispers. Fragments of a past life. And a truth: my death wasn’t an accident. It was betrayal. Now I have no power, but I have time. Nine soul fragments scattered across the realms. Nine betrayers who took my throne. Nine steps from trash son-in-law to the man who rewrites the heavens. They think I’m crippled. They think I’m done. Let them laugh. Every slap, every insult, every “worthless”... it’s all fuel. Because when the last fragment awakens, the Sovereign returns. And this time, I won’t die alone.

Chapter 1: Divorce

Chapter 1: Divorce

"Sign it."

The folder landed on the table with a loud slap.

Ethan Carter slowly lifted his head.

Across from him sat his wife, Olivia Carter. She wore an expensive black dress and diamond earrings he could never afford. Her beautiful face was filled with disgust.

Three years.

Three years ago, the Carter family had taken him in after finding him half-dead beside a mountain road. He had no memories, no family, and no future.

They gave him a place to stay.

In exchange, they treated him like a servant.

No.

Servants were treated better.

He cooked.

He cleaned.

He washed cars.

He endured endless insults.

And now...

They wanted him gone.

Olivia crossed her arms.

"What's the matter? Are you deaf now?"

The living room erupted with laughter.

Her younger brother, Ryan Carter, sneered.

"Maybe he's hoping you'll change your mind."

"Dream on," Olivia said coldly.

Ryan stood and tossed a bank card onto the table.

"There's ten thousand dollars in there. More money than you've earned in your entire life."

"Take it and disappear."

Ethan looked at the card.

Then at the divorce papers.

Strangely enough...

His heart felt calm.

Not sad.

Not angry.

Just empty.

As if none of this mattered.

As if he had once lost something far more important than a marriage.

Olivia frowned.

"Well?"

Ethan picked up the pen.

Without saying a word, he signed.

Olivia blinked.

She had expected resistance.

Begging.

Tears.

Something.

Instead, the man she had spent three years humiliating simply signed and pushed the papers back.

Done.

Just like that.

A strange irritation rose inside her chest.

"Good."

She snatched the papers away.

"Get out."

Ryan smirked.

"Don't forget to bow before leaving."

The room exploded with laughter again.

Ethan stood.

No explanation.

No argument.

No farewell.

He walked toward the door.

The Carter family's mocking voices followed him all the way outside.

"Good riddance."

"Useless trash."

"Finally."

The door slammed shut behind him.

Silence.

For the first time in three years, Ethan stood alone.

Rain began to fall.

The city lights blurred beneath dark clouds.

He walked without destination.

Without purpose.

Without knowing where he belonged.

Then—

Pain.

A sudden stabbing pain exploded inside his head.

Ethan staggered.

Fragments flashed before his eyes.

A golden throne.

Countless stars.

Nine enormous gates floating in the void.

A voice screaming—

"Your Majesty, run!"

BOOM!

The vision vanished.

Ethan collapsed to one knee.

"What was that?"

His heart pounded violently.

The images felt real.

Too real.

Yet before he could think further—

A soft voice came from ahead.

"I finally found you."

Ethan looked up.

At the crossroads stood a young woman dressed entirely in white.

Rain fell around her.

Yet not a single drop touched her clothes.

Her beauty was beyond mortal description.

Most shocking of all...

Tears streamed down her face.

She looked at him as though she had searched for centuries.

Then she slowly knelt.

Right there in the rain.

In the middle of the street.

Her trembling voice carried through the night.

"Your Majesty..."

Ethan froze.

The world seemed to stop.

The woman opened her hand.

Resting on her palm was a shattered crystal bead glowing with ancient golden light.

The moment Ethan saw it—

The sky thundered.

And somewhere beyond the clouds...

Something awakened.
