Chapter 3, The Blue Armored Knight.

The University Stadium was in ruins—screams echoed through the air as people fled in every direction, some trampling over others in their panic, while a few unfortunate souls lay trapped beneath rubble or the gnashing teeth of the ghouls. Ali sprinted back into the fray, his sword flashing as he cut down one grotesque creature after another. But no matter how many he killed more seemed to pour in from the shadows, their guttural snarls filling the air.

They took bizarre shapes and forms, one had 4 arms, other had five tails, and their shark like teeth and crimson red eyes made them even more hideous and terrifying.

Then he saw her—a little girl, no older than six, kneeling beside the lifeless body of her mother, her tiny frame shaking with sobs. Without hesitation, Ali scooped her up with one arm, his grip tightening on his sword with the other.

"Hold on tight!" he shouted over the chaos as four ghouls lunged at them.

Swinging with desperate precision, he carved through the monsters, but the added weight of the child slowed him down. His arms burned with exertion, and he knew he couldn’t keep this up.

Spotting a family frantically loading into a car in the parking lot, Ali bolted toward them. He shoved the girl into the arms of a wide-eyed woman.

"Get her out of here—now!" he ordered.

The engine roared to life, but a ghoul, faster than the rest, scrambled toward the vehicle. Ali intercepted it, cleaving its skull just as the car screeched away.

Panting, he allowed himself a single breath—before a sharp pain exploded across his back. He stumbled forward, the armor absorbing most of the blow, but the force still sent him crashing to the ground.

Rolling onto his back, Ali’s blood ran cold.

Surrounding him were figures with glowing red eyes—they looked like  humans but something was wrong, . One grinned, his tongue stretching out like a lizard’s, flicking grotesquely. Another had rows of jagged, shark-like teeth. Then Ali realized what they were, they were shape shifters.

Ali barely had time to react before they attacked. These weren’t mindless beasts—they fought with strategy, dodging his swings, striking with crude weapons. He cut two down, their inhuman shrieks piercing the air, but they outnumbered him.

He found himself in the same situation he was before the system gave him another chance "was it all pointless?" He asked himself. "Did I fight hard and act brave for nothing?"

Negative thoughts sneaked to his mind, he looked around and noticed that the number of the Ghouls are growing. After everything he's done there's still no difference and he couldn't change their fate.

A club smashed into his ribs, and he gasped as his knees buckled.

They forced him down, their breath hot and rancid. The one with the elongated tongue leaned in, jaws unhinging—

Then, without warning, a violent gust of wind slammed into them, hurling the creatures backward like leaves in a storm. Ali blinked in shock, his sword still clenched in his trembling hands.

"What the hell was that?" He asked himself.

The air crackled with energy, and for the first time since the massacre began—he dared to hope.

"Are you ok?" A firm, deep voice asked. He looked up, and a guy wearing blue armor and holding a huge fan was looking down at him. The armored man held out his hand, and Ali took it. The guy helped him up to his feet and said, "I saw you fighting them. You've fought well, but those shapeshifters are above your level. You're just an amateur, and you're injured. Fall back and let us handle it."

Ali didn’t know what to do, so he just nodded. He wanted to ask the armored guy who he was, but the man didn’t give him a chance—he launched at one of the biggest ghouls and struck it with his fan, sending it flying until it hit the wall. Then, he used his huge fan to blow the smaller ones away, causing a strong wind.

Ali was speechless. Then it hit him—the spiky black hair, the blue armor, and the fan. He realized who this guy was, he was one of the famous knights of Askalan.

Ali wanted to join the knight and keep fighting, but his ribs hurt. Then, suddenly, he saw the screen again:

[You've defeated many ghouls and successfully leveled up to Level 2.]

After that, he felt the pain in his ribs slowly fade. So he picked up his sword and launched toward a group of ghouls who were attacking the knight from behind. He felt himself moving a little faster and lighter than before—in a flash, he cut them all down.

The knight turned to him and said, "Didn’t I tell you to stay back?"

"I’m fine. In fact, I fight even better now. Let’s work together and take them all down," Ali replied.

The knight didn’t respond. Instead, he jumped high and struck the air with his fan, sending a winged ghoul crashing into a building. Then he said, "If you slow me down, I’ll leave you behind. So you better keep up."

Ali followed behind the knight, and together, they cut down all the ghouls in the university stadium.

After an hour, Ali was kneeling down and panting. They had successfully taken down all the ghouls in the area. Then, the knight got a call from one of the other knights, informing him that they had managed to eliminate all the ghouls at the seashore and were now searching the city for any stragglers. The knight reported that he had also cleared the university ghouls—with the help of a mysterious guy in a white armor. His friend told him to bring Ali along because they needed to question him.

The knight turned to Ali and said, "You need to come with me."

Ali was exhausted, he had no energy to argue with the Knight, suddenly the screen appeared.

[ Congratulations on completing your first mission, you've leveled up to Level 4.]

Then other messages from the system appeared .

The abandoned mall stood like a a Haunted house in the heart of Ariha, its shattered windows and the smoke that filled the air, a remaining evidence of the catastrophe. The atmosphere was filled with something far worse than blood, it was decay, the kind that didn’t come from the dead but from things that refused to die. Hadi sent Ali, Malik, and Laith to help. Three days ago, the Knights of Ariha received a call from a worker in the mall, saying that he saw a group of ghouls in a warehouse. Soon, the ghouls flooded the mall, and chaos erupted. The Knights of Ariha went there immediately but were unable to eliminate the ghouls. There were too many of them, and they couldn’t find out where they were coming from. Malik tightened his grip on his blade as he, Ali, and Laith approached the barricade where the Knights of Ariha had set up their command post. The leader, Hassan, turned to greet them, his face streaked with dirt and exhaustion. "Took you long enough," Hassan muttered, wi

After the announcement of the Knights' Association, things grew quiet again. Ali and the others were unhappy that their efforts for peace had gone to waste, but there was nothing they could do. Soon after, the Association ordered the knight groups to film their battles and upload the footage to social media. At first, the knights rejected the proposal, insisting they were not influencers. However, the Association argued that in this day and age, it was necessary to maintain their public image. A strong social media presence, they claimed, would provide a platform to share their perspective and protect them against future defamation. The Knights of Nablus were the first to respond. With their vast numbers and dedicated supporters, their videos went viral almost overnight, turning them into global heroes. Seeing their success, the other groups soon followed their lead. The fish market was in chaos. Stalls were overturned, people screamed, and the stench of blood mixed with the s

The doctors moved briskly, their voices low and grim.Marwan gritted his teeth, fists clenched. "Whoever did this... I'll find them. I don't care if I have to dig them out from under the earth myself."Ali stared at Haitham's bandaged hand, three fingers gone, the rest blackened and raw. "This wasn't random. They knew where he'd be."Just then, Hazim entered, his expression unreadable. "The Commander of Tulkarm Knights was assassinated an hour ago."A heavy silence fell over them.Ali frowned. "That's too convenient. You think... it's connected?"Marwan's voice turned sharp. "This is too much, we must put an end to this, aren't you going to

  • Chapter 37, Assassin's Attack.

The night was quiet as Hadi drove home, the city lights flickering past his car windows. He loosened his tie, exhaustion settling in after another long day at the firm. Just as he turned onto the deserted stretch leading to his neighborhood, a deafening explosion shattered the silence. His car lurched violently, flames erupting from the engine. Instinct took over. Hadi kicked the door open and threw himself onto the pavement, rolling to smother the sparks licking at his sleeves. Before he could catch his breath, a dark figure lunged at him from the shadows. Hadi barely dodged the first swing. His attacker was human-no telltale signs of a shapeshifter-just a man with a grudge and a knife. Hadi blocked the next strike, twisting the assailant's wrist until the blade clattered to the ground. A sharp pain shot through his shoulder as the man landed a solid hit, but Hadi retaliated with a well-aimed kick, sending the attacker stumbling back. Seizing the moment, Hadi bolted into the alley

That means we’re recruiting, starting now."Marwan, who had been leaning against the wall with his usual scowl, suddenly pushed himself forward, his face flushing with frustration. "You’ve got to be joking," he snapped. "These five can barely hold a sword without tripping over themselves, and now you want to add more to the mess?"Hazim’s jaw tightened. "We don’t have a choice, Marwan. The Siege Ghouls aren’t going to wait for us to be ready.""Then you train them!" Marwan shot back, throwing his hands up. • Chapter 35, The Groups Assemble.

The grand hall of the Association of Knights was filled with the leaders of various knight groups, their armor gleaming under the flickering torchlight. At the center of the room stood Mr. Ameen, the Head of the Association, his stern gaze sweeping over the assembled warriors. Beside him, Ali Hazim and Hadi stood with quiet pride, having just returned from successful negotiations with the King and Queen of the Underworld. Mr. Ameen raised a hand, and the murmurs in the hall ceased. "Attention Knights," he began, his voice firm. "The peace talks with the Underworld are progressing, thanks in no small part to the Knights of Askalan." He nodded toward Hazim and Hadi, who exchanged a brief glance. "But let us not forget, our true enemy still lurks in the shadows. The Siege Ghouls are waiting. Watching. And when they strike, we must be ready." A ripple of unease passed through the crowd. "Which is why," Mr. Ameen continued, "we must strengthen our forces. Effective immediately, each

The hall was quiet as the Knights of Askalan gathered. Hadi stood at the front, his expression as serious as ever as he waited for everyone to settle. “I called you all here because the Association has made an announcement,” he began, his voice steady. “After reviewing our report on the Queen of the Ghouls’ willingness to negotiate, they’ve opened formal peace talks with the King and Queen of the Underground.” A murmur rippled through the room. Peace talks with the Ghouls? After centuries of bloodshed, the idea was almost unthinkable. Hadi continued, “The Association has formally thanked us for our role in this and wants representatives from Askalan to attend the negotiations.” He glanced at Hazim, who gave a slight nod. “Hazim and I have decided to go, along with the members who were present during the initial encounter.” Malik and Haitham, who had been leaning against the wall with crossed arms, exchanged a look. “Not interested,” Malik said bluntly. Haitham shrugged. “I

  • Chapter 33, The Harsh Truth.

The training grounds were quiet in the dim light of dawn, the air still cool from the night. Ali arrived early, as he often did these days, determined to make the most of his time. Balancing his new identity as a knight with his career was no easy task, but he had a plan, train in the mornings with his friends Karim and Fadi, study at night, and somehow find a way to make it all work. When he stepped onto the field, he expected to be alone, but to his surprise, Hazim was already there, running through drills with slow, deliberate precision. The older knight paused when he noticed Ali, wiping sweat from his brow. "You're early," Hazim remarked, his voice calm but curious. Ali shrugged, adjusting his training gloves. "Can’t afford to waste time. I’ve got courses to study for, job hunting won’t wait." Hazim nodded. "I see. Well, good luck with that." A moment of silence passed between them before Ali spoke again, his tone thoughtful. "Hazim… do you think if we had more members
